Naruto: I, Uchiha, Just Want to Die

Chapter 30: The Jashin Cult Doesn’t Accept Illiterates!

Chapter 30: The Jashin Cult Doesn't Accept Illiterates!

With a stern shout, Ci's voice did not cause the leader of the Jashin Cult to hesitate for even a moment. His indifferent eyes remained fixed as he thrust his long black spear directly at Yuko.

Seeing this, Uchiha Ci could no longer hide his identity as a ninja. He immediately activated his chakra, swiftly flashing in front of the little girl.

In the heat of the moment, he had no choice but to reach out, gripping the incoming black spear tightly.

The sharp edge of the spear cut into his palm, and blood began to seep through the bandages wrapped around his hand, dripping onto the ground.

Uchiha Ci glanced at his bleeding hand and frowned slightly.

Allowing the Jashin Cult members to obtain his blood was not a good sign.

"I said, stop!"

He raised his head slightly, his Sharingan coldly locking onto the cult leader before him.

"Sharingan? Uchiha?" The cult leader squinted his eyes, halting his actions, his gaze flickering slightly.

An Uchiha? Why isn't one of them watching over the savages at the Blood Pool but instead running over to their Jashin Cult territory? What are they planning?

"Ci! What are you doing?" At that moment, Hidan came running out, placing himself between Uchiha Ci and the cult leader. He hurriedly explained to the cult leader, "Sir, this guy is my friend and also determined to join our Jashin Cult."

The cult leader's gaze turned cold as he looked at Uchiha Ci, as if waiting for him to explain.

Seeing the situation slightly ease, Uchiha Ci immediately spoke, "Hidan is right. Let her go, and I'll be the sacrifice!"

This statement shocked everyone present, all eyes turning towards Uchiha Ci in surprise.

This kid wanted to sacrifice himself to save a little girl he didn't even know?

In the crowd, a young girl in a hood calmly observed the situation. Wrapped in a shadowy black cloak, only a few strands of reddish-brown hair peeked out from her hood.

When the cult leader had earlier thrust his spear at the girl, she had been ready to intervene, but seeing Uchiha Ci step forward, she withdrew her hands, which had already formed a hand seal.

She looked at Uchiha Ci in disbelief. How could anyone be so foolish as to sacrifice themselves to save someone else?

"Wait, Ci, what are you saying?!" Hidan, the first to break, stared at Uchiha Ci in shock.

His expression screamed, 'I knew it!'

At this moment, Hidan looked like someone anxiously waiting behind Uchiha Ci in a job interview, competing for the last position and terrified that the person ahead would snatch the offer.

Inwardly, he was already howling, "This guy, he's trying to steal the Jashin-sama's favor from me!"

"You, want to become the sacrifice?" The cult leader, stunned by this statement, took a few steps back, pulling the spear out slowly. He looked at Uchiha Ci, seemingly examining him.

His gaze lingered several times on Uchiha Ci's scarlet Sharingan, and he couldn't help but take a sharp breath.

An Uchiha, coming to the Jashin Cult, and asking to be a sacrifice?

The cult leader began to wonder if he was dreaming.

"Exactly," Uchiha Ci took a bold step forward, speaking righteously, "I want to be the sacrifice! Sir, take me to the headquarters of the Jashin Cult!"

However, instead of being pleased, the cult leader's expression twisted in confusion after his initial shock.

He stared at the boy before him, his face twitching as though he'd ordered jackfruit online, only to receive a durian shell. Disgusting and prickly.

If the Uchiha clan found out that the Jashin Cult had sacrificed one of their own, they wouldn't even wait until the next day.

By that very night, the Uchiha forces stationed in Hell Valley could cross half the Land of Hot Water, skin him alive, and stuff him like a scarecrow!

The cult leader's expression darkened as he thought this through.

Under the eyes of everyone present, despite his inner reluctance, he reluctantly asked out of professionalism:

"Are you a ninja?"

"Yes," Uchiha Ci nodded.

"Well, then, we don't accept ninjas," the cult leader immediately seized the opportunity to say.

"What did you say?" Uchiha Ci's eyes widened as he turned to Hidan, his gaze seeming to ask, 'What's going on?'

Did you invite me to the Jashin Cult only to find out the team was already full?

Feeling slighted, he shot a look at Hidan.

Hidan, equally baffled, stood beside the cult leader and reminded him, "Sir, I remember we do accept ninjas. Didn't you tell me to bring one back last time?"

The cult leader's smile froze. "I did tell you to catch a ninja, but you brought me an Uchiha?"

Didn't you know that the Uchiha ranked second on the list of the ten most difficult people to mess with in the Land of Hot Water?

"Oh, I must have remembered wrong, then." The cult leader wiped the sweat from his brow.

But if he were to truly sacrifice an Uchiha kid, the consequences would be dire.

His gaze grew cold, and he secretly signaled to two of his subordinates standing behind him.

Then, with a stern face, he asked Uchiha Ci in a cold voice, "Do you even know our Jashin Cult's doctrine?"

Uchiha Ci was momentarily stunned. Has the job market become this competitive? Am I supposed to study a book just to be a sacrifice?

"Uh... just give me a second, I think I remember." Uchiha Ci, feeling nervous, quickly pulled out a pamphlet that Hidan had given him and flipped through it like he was taking an open-book exam.

But suddenly—

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Two black spears shot towards Uchiha Ci from both sides.

The cult leader gritted his teeth, abandoning all pretense. He released the spear Uchiha Ci was holding, swiftly drawing two more black spears from his robe.

His eyes turned icy as he sneered, "Hmph, you don't even understand our doctrine. How dare you think you're worthy of hearing the gospel of Jashin-sama?"

"Our Jashin Cult doesn't accept illiterates!"

As the two spears twisted through the air, hurtling towards him, Uchiha Ci's instincts screamed danger, and his body reacted instantly.

A tremendous sense of crisis surged through him, making him realize that these three cult members were no ordinary henchmen—they were strong!

In the next moment, text appeared in front of his eyes.

[You are being attacked by Jashin Cult minions (defected chunin from the Land of Hot Water), with the leader openly declaring you an 'illiterate!']

[Talent: Battle Instinct, S Rank, activated.]

A jolt of electricity shot through Uchiha Ci's body, and in an instant, his Sharingan whirled as he twisted in mid-air, tracking the trajectory of the incoming spears with a trembling red line.

He fiercely hurled the bloodied spear in his hand, knocking one of the spears away, but the other one hurtled straight towards his vital point!

Recalling Hidan's future techniques, Uchiha Ci's pupils contracted sharply, but he was still mid-air and couldn't muster the strength to dodge the second spear fully.

If it struck him, he would definitely be wounded!

And if he bled again, combined with the earlier cut from blocking the cult leader's spear, the Jashin Cult members could easily collect his blood and use it to activate the "Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood."

Under that terrifying jutsu, he'd be nothing more than a meal on someone's plate!

Uchiha Ci's eyes widened slightly, realizing that the Land of Hot Water was far more dangerous than he had imagined.

Even a random group of Jashin Cult lackeys had such terrifying ambush capabilities!

However, just then—

A girl with a hood leaped out from the crowd, her reddish-brown hair swaying with the wind.

She pulled out a kunai from her cloak and formed a hand seal.

Her emerald-green eyes sparkled like gems as she shouted towards Uchiha Ci, "Idiot, duck!"

"Water Style: Water Fang Bullet!"
