Nightmare Paradise : Starting as a Doctor

Chapter 82: New Side Mission

With a distinct and audible thud, the humeral head, which had been displaced from its original position, seamlessly realigned itself, restoring the natural shape and configuration of the shoulder joint.

Lynn then deftly repurposed the patient's shirt, freshly cut it to size, and transformed it into a makeshift sling. This impromptu measure aimed to provide support and stability to the injured arm and shoulder.

Securing the affected limb to the man's chest, he ensured that it was comfortably immobilized. Lynn gave him a few more instructions, mainly not to move the arm for a few days, before letting go of the patient, who had become a sample of teaching.

After successfully treating the injured patient, he took a moment to check the continuous chiming notifications on his panel. Indeed, sharing medical knowledge is also considered to be acting like a doctor.

Lynn shifted his gaze towards the assembled crowd of spectators. Within a matter of minutes, the room became even more crowded as two additional rows of men joined in. Their presence was overwhelming, creating a sense of unease and apprehension, particularly for the patient and his companion.

The thought of fleeing crossed their minds. They were uncertain whether they should attempt to escape, fearing the consequences of being caught or the possibility of becoming experiment material. The patient's companion, realizing the urgency of the situation, swiftly guided him towards the doorway of the classroom, disappearing from sight.

Lynn, observing the unfolding scene, understood their feelings. No one would feel safe lying upon a cold, hard stone surface, that bore a striking resemblance to a sacrificial altar, rather than a comforting bed.  The intimidating ambiance was further amplified by being surrounded by a group of black-robed men.

It was not difficult for an ordinary individual to develop an instinctual dread when finding themselves thrust into the heart of an anatomy classroom, especially when you were neither the spectator nor the operator, but rather an unwilling participant caught amid an unsettling spectacle.

Lynn shook his head before turning his attention to the gathered people. "I hope this demonstration provided some beneficial insights. The crucial aspect is to maintain calm and act swiftly, yet with care, to properly realign the joint."

The apprentices nodded eagerly, their eyes bright with fascination as Lynn concluded his impromptu tutorial. The knowledge he had shared had clearly struck a chord with them, leaving them eager to soak up more information and expand their understanding. The enthusiasm of these people to learn gave Lynn some cold sweats

"Your techniques are truly astounding," a voice, coming from the back row, suddenly resonated through the room, prompting an immediate hush among the crowd.

A black-robed man sitting in the back row calmly stood up and walked down the steps. Gregory who had been sitting beside the speaker also rushed over, a somewhat embarrassed smile on his face. "Allow me to introduce Hospital Director Nolan," Gregory announced.

A distinguished gentleman in his prime made his way forward, his jet-black hair elegantly touched with strands of gray near his temples. With genuine sincerity, he expressed his gratitude. "I have been informed of a generous physician willing to share his valuable knowledge. Please accept my deepest appreciation for your enlightening contribution," he said, offering a humble bow.

The commotion caused by this medical demonstration was a bit significant, attracting more and more people. Sensing the potential for chaos, Gregory decided to discreetly exit the show to alert the director, with whom he had a good rapport, to avoid any responsibility.

Director Nolan playfully remarked, “I heard that you were also part of law enforcement, Sheriff Cooper is hiding such a genius in medicine. I must talk to him to transfer you to our hospital!” However, beneath the lighthearted tone, he seemed genuinely interested in exploring the possibility.

Lynn maintained a polite smile to this remark. "I appreciate your kind words," he responded. "But I have been assigned to this town as a reinforcement to address the recent attacks against patrol officers."

Nolan absentmindedly nodded. "That's why I've never heard of you...," he began, but his words abruptly trailed off as a bolt of realization shot through him, causing him to freeze in place.

His eyes widened in astonishment as he fixed his gaze upon Lynn. In that moment, a whirlwind of thoughts flooded his mind, racing at an extraordinary pace, like a thousand wild stallions galloping through an open plain.

The director hesitantly asked, "Are you the rumored special detective?" The question was filled with uncertainty as if seeking confirmation or clarification.

Maintaining his calm, Lynn nodded in acknowledgment and confidently replied, "Yes, I am the one brought in to investigate the strange incidents plaguing this town."

Director Nolan's astonishment was evident as he processed this revelation. "To think we were graced by the presence of such an esteemed individual without even realizing it," he uttered in disbelief. “That’s explain your knowledge that surpasses anything we currently possess.”

He paused for a moment to assess the number of individuals who had witnessed the showcase. Although it had been agreed upon, but Gregory caused such a large group of people to observe the other party's advanced medical technique.

"Sharing this knowledge wouldn't cause any problems, right?" Concerned about the possible ramifications, Director Nolan inquired about the potential trouble that could arise from sharing this advanced knowledge.

Lynn smiled reassuringly. "You are being too serious," he said. "I merely provided some helpful tips. It wouldn't cause any trouble." With those words, he skillfully employed the enigmatic background of the special detective as a guise to conceal the origin of his modern medical expertise.

Hearing this the director’s eyes immediately lit with enthusiasm, and he took Lynn's hand and said " Although I must admit it is somewhat audacious of me to ask, I hope you will forgive the request of a man of limited talent."

"Huh?" The unexpected gesture took aback Lynn, his brows furrowing in confusion as he tried to make sense of the situation.

"On behalf of all those dedicated to saving lives, I sincerely invite you to share your valuable insights and expertise with us," Nolan earnestly extended an invitation.

"Wait, what?" Lynn's eyes widened as he started to realize where this was going.

"It's indeed a shame for me to make such a request to someone who is already fighting to maintain peace in the town and who has limited time to spare," the gentlemen continued, acknowledging the weight of Lynn's existing responsibilities.

"Nevertheless, in order to save more bodies from suffering, I'd like to invite someone like you to temporarily teach here."

From the moment the hospital director was introduced, Lynn's mind brimmed with strategies to persuade him to grant free access to the hospital facilities. However, it seemed that fate was working in his favor.  He didn’t expect that he didn’t have to do anything and his goal was already achieved.

As Nolan ended his request, a notification sounded in Lynn's mind, informing him that a new side mission had been triggered:

[Side Mission: Director Nolan has requested you to temporarily teach at the hospital. Conduct three medical lectures/demonstrations 1/3]
