Rehabilitating the Villainess

Chapter 112: Happiness (2)

It meant that I fell in love with Shael.

The cute villainess didn’t even know that, and she continued to give me tight hugs as if she was trying to tease me for daring to tease her.

“Since when did you like me?”

“That is a very sudden question.”

Unlike the words that unconsciously said, I was thinking about the answer to Shael’s question in my head.

‘When did I start liking Shael?’

I failed to pinpoint a the time, and couldn’t find an answer.

‘What made me fall in love in the first place?’

If I couldn’t find the answer, looking back at the past events might help.

‘What made me fall in love with Shael?’

Even that was not an easy question to answer. so I decided to think some more about the past.

The very first thing that came to my mind was that I used to hate Shael. Of course, I felt a slight affection towards her when I read the novel, but that changed after coming to this world.

It was natural. I spent six months suffering from her abusive behavior, but what I got as compensation was even more abuse.

‘The first time when things began to change was probably…’

The time when I first scolded the villainess. She became flustered more easily than I thought, and revealed her cute side. It was the first time I discovered Shael’s charm. I could feel the indescribable cuteness in

her behavior, and my affection began to rise from then on.

The affection accumulated every time we insulted each other, until the point it reached a new level. So, the question of when did I fall in love was not appropriate.

I didn’t even know when I started to love Shael.

I knew that I fell in love at some point, and I was aware of the amount of my love. It was bigger than anything

else, bigger than the tallest mountain.

Recalling my love, I answered Shael’s question.

“I don’t know.”

I couldn’t see her expression because I was carrying Shael on my back.

‘Is she making an annoyed expression?’

“…stupid.”

Shael said with a grunt.

Even so, I didn’t feel any feeling of contempt from her voice.

Of course I didn’t want to lose, so I asked Shael in return.

“Then, when did you start to love me?”

Shael went silent. And the answer she finally came up with was a bit clumsy.

“Mooo…I don’t know.”

“Stupid.”

It was only natural for me to return the words I had received just a moment ago

“How can someone be stupid for something they might not know?”

“Who said that I was stupid in the first place?”

“That and this are different.”

“It looks the same to me.”

And so, the random childish squabble continued.

As always, in the end we happily reconciled with a smile.

* * *

A few days passed.

Even though it was a short time, those few days felt like eons of time to me.

And….’

Finally today.

The day had come when Shael and I would be forming a firm bond.

It felt the pounding heart in my chest, and even though it was still early in the morning, my body wasn’t tired.

On the contrary, my eyes were bright and my whole body was full of energy.

‘Shael is sleeping.’

Here I was, feeling nervous about what’s to come, and she was immersed in a sweet sleep?

Of course I didn’t wake her up. I just raised my hand and patted her head.

After that, I pictured the future in my head…and even in my imagination Shael was still sleeping like she was now.

‘It’s a sight I’ll keep seeing in the future.’

If that was the case, I would whisper softly to Shael, who fell asleep in the future.

[How long are you going to sleep by yourself? I wonder if you are tired of kissing me secretly last night.]

Then, when Shael wakes up, she’ll come up with strange excuses, and she’ll even laugh while arguing with me.

It was a very happy future that I had no choice but to look forward to.

I hugged Shael so that she could sleep more comfortably. My shadow cast over Shael’s body as if it wanted to protect her.

Yes, it was a warm shadow. It was a fact that could be understood by looking at Shael, who had a warmer smile on her face

Closing my eyes, I put a warm smile on my face, just like Shael.

The sunlight warmed up my emotions, which were already burning hot.

The ticking grandfather clock made me look forward to the wedding that I was still looking forward to so much.

The end that would announce a new beginning was approaching.

In other words, it would be a time when true happiness would blossom into a bright flower bud, nourished by our combined efforts.
