Return of the last survivor

Chapter 74: Prey

This was Merlin's latest discovery. Within the library of 'Archive', Merlin had found a very much apt spell for this situation.

A peak Tier 2 spell, which drained nearly 70% of his mana; [Hell-Fire], which summoned a meteor from space, and caused it to attack a certain region, obliterating anything at that location and 1km around it.

The strength of the spell was limited to 1km around it on purpose to not cause irreparable damage to the planet it was used on. This was perfect because it prevented his sanctum, which was around 2 km away from the impact zone to be levelled along with the enemy.

Once the spell was casted, Merlin immediately began to greedily absorb all the Tier 2 mana in the air, while pulling out some mana stones to do the same.

At this moment, multiple notifications came up on his interface.

You have killed …

Soon, Merlin had received 22 such messages, allowing him to reach Level 3 easily. He did not gain anything from killing the Tier 1s of the horde, and so he did not receive a notification for those tens of thousands of kills.

However, now the real battle began. Merlin had to kill the remaining 12 Tier 2 within this Class 3 threat, which definitely contained at least 1 General.

With a serious yet crazed expression, Merlin scanned his surroundings and found his first prey, a Tier 2 Tank!

This was the natural enemy of a mage like himself when in group battles, and was the first thing Merlin should get rid of.

Just like what the name implies, Tanks as simply Tanks. They have an abnormally high magic resistance, as well as an insanely high HP, which allows other more fragile and higher DPS zombies like Liches to hide behind then.

It also allows then to charge the human mage and prevent the mage from attacking any other creatures.

These tanks had an incredible weakness as well. They were stupid. Stupid beyond saving. So stupid that at least a commander was needed to allow it to recognise its enemies and attack them, instead of doing nothing and just standing in one place.

This is why this Tank was Merlin's first prey. It had to be killed during this moment of confusion before it could re-unite with its horde or commanders.

With nearly 60% of his mana recovered, Merlin did not hesitate to empty out half of it to bombard the stationary Tank as if he was target practice.

*Boom**Sizzle**Crash* Whoosh*

Spells bombarded the Tank, slowly chipping away at its bone exterior. After nearly a minute of continuous rapid-fire, the standing tank collapsed. However, Merlin did not stop and continued until a frozen puddle of nothingness was left.

This was because of another ability Tanks have. [Revival].

This was a skill, that when a general or higher specialisation of the same or higher Tier as the Tank sacrifice a single limb, the tank can be revived.

Naturally, this had its limits, and the only way to revive this puddle was to completely sacrifice to Tier 2 generals, which no sane General would allow to happen.

Merlin quickly absorbed more mana from stones and the air, as he lifted off the ground into the air to search for his next prey.
