Return of the last survivor

Chapter 84: Outside the Overseer's reach

Back in the immediate void around Earth, the two higher beings of the Overseer's faction were completely shocked at this development.

Shem, the self-proclaimed goddess of hope within Earth's dimension, had just noticed what had occurred.

She turned to Krog and yelled, "Krog! Use the emergency beacon!"

"Huh? Why? Which one?" Krog, who was taking a leisurely break responded with hesitation.

"Blue! Quick!"

"Blue?" A moment of comprehension later, colour drained from Krog's face as he spoke with a trembling voice, while collecting his mana into his right claw and sending it over to Shem, "Someone left the plane?!"

"Yes!" Shem collected the mana, and using some unknown method, fused it with some of her own, while transforming both into a dark blue shade, and then sending a long string of runes into it.

Next Krog and her both stretched out their hand, and claw to inject mana into the void and create a portal small enough to send the ball of mana.

"Phew, so who was it that managed to leave?" Asked Krog after the portal closed.

"That Merlin fellow."

"Him again?"

"Yes, but how did he know how to contact the planer will? And the plane he has gone to… I cannot locate it. This means… that it is outside The Supreme Being's reach?! But no such place is supposed to exist!!"

"Who cares? It is not our problem anymore. Those old fogies will manage it. I'm off to sleep." Replied Krog as he moved his reptilian body lazily through the void to the other side of the plane.

Back in the 'Hyperbolic plane' as Merlin named it, Merlin had spent nearly 2 days to recover, and was now about halfway to his full strength.

He decided to find a better location to absorb mana. The mana of this plane was clearly slightly lower than Earth's current concentration, but not by too much. It was enough to support Tier 2 beings, and was growing, just like Earth's mana. However, the rate at which it was increasing was incredibly slow, nearly 10 times slower than Earth's.

This discovery had got Merlin to think about something.

'Could Arcania, or that 'Master' be the ones injecting mana into each plane? And because of the time displacement on this plane, the speed of this injection is slower than Earth?'

However, thinking about something at that level would not help him one bit currently, and so Merlin put this thought at the back of his mind.

His current strength was comparable to that of a Peak Tier 1, which should be considerably strong on this plane. He could feel the Planer will trying to suppress his level, however, the incredibly thin layer of golden mana surrounding him would fight it off every time it tried to attack Merlin.

This meant that given enough time, Merlin would be able to regain his Tier 2 strength by just absorbing mana and healing his wounds. However, Merlin did not let his guard down. Being peak Tier 1 on a Tier 2 lane was incredibly dangerous. Tier 2 zombies could pop-out from anywhere to try and kill him.

Mecha had in fact completely dropped in Tier back to Tier 0! It had shed the last layer of itself just as Merlin was entering the plane, following Merlin's instructions, in order to keep the planer corruption out of the plane.

The only one unharmed was Cortana, who was still at Tier 0. Only when she lived long enough, another month or so, to use [Extraction] would she be able to increase in level. And as she grew in level, so would Phillip. This was a pyramid, with Phillip always being at the highest level of existence in all his race.

With his guard up, mana flowing through his muscles, Merlin made his way slowly to the top of a mountain. He did not want to fly, since it would most likely attract the attention of many Tier 2 beings, and his strength was too weak to fend them off.

Instead he chose to move slowly and cautiously, with most of the mana restricted to flowing within his body and not allowing even a wisp of mana to escape.

After nearly a half a day of climbing, Merlin reached a high enough location to look for miles in any direction, except to his left, where the rest of the mountain was located.

HE hadn't come here to scale a mountain, only to get high enough to spot anything he could use in this plane. Any signs of intelligent life-forms or other living creatures, including non-living ones like zombies.
