Rise of an Alpha Male

Chapter 10: Car Ownership

After Karen and Silvio left the university with her Volkswagen, the basketball players and cheerleading girls surround Sara and discuss what just happened.

"So, it turns out that someone beautiful like Sara's cousin likes a poor man like Silvio. What a joke!"

" What's wrong with that stinking loser, Silvio? He doesn't have money. Even a beggar on the street is better than him!"

" If Sara's cousin dates Silvio, he will spend her family's money. How could she allow trash like Silvio into her life?"

When the guys saw Karen snatched Silvio, their words began to drip with jealousy.

"Who said my cousin is dating Silvio?" Sara bursts with anger as she is embarrassed about her cousin dating a loser like Silvio. She is afraid because of this, her image in this circle would be jeopardized, so she desperately denies it.

"Didn't your cousin say she was looking for a boyfriend?" One of the basketball players asks.

She reluctantly nods.

"Wasn't she leading Silvio away proof that she is her boyfriend?"

Sara tries hard to hide her nervousness," Ha, ha. You guys. You are really reading too much into this!" Sara laughs. The others are puzzled and don't understand what she meant.

Sara adds, "It seems Karen's acting was too realistic. We tricked you all!"

Upon hearing her words, everyone is dumbfounded, they couldn't understand what she was trying to say. Both of the women were acting? Why? That's what they think.

"Since there is so much misunderstanding, I will tell you a secret." Sara feels relieved as she sees that the others are curious about what she is going to say.

"The truth is this.." Sara says and goes on to explain how she and her cousin, Karen are pretending that Silvio is Karen's boyfriend to make another man jealous.

However, Sara doesn't know why Karen acts very differently from what both of them agreed and the change in Karen's attitude is omitted from Sara's explanation to her friends. From the first time Karen met Silvio, it appears that Karen really falls in love with Silvio and that is making Sara very frustrated.

The last time Sara brought Alan to catch Karen on a date with Silvio, Alan was extremely upset. Besides, Alan had often asked her about Karen. Alan acknowledged his jealousy. Thus, Karen has achieved her goal and Sara had made this clear to her but Karen seems no longer interested in Alan.

However, to protect her pride within her circle of friends, she bluffs that Karen's plan is still in progress.

"So, that's the case." A girl says.

A man says, "I said before, Sara's cousin is too beautiful for Silvio."

"Silvio must be feeling proud of himself, but he doesn't know Karen is just using him." Another man says.

Sara's bluff cure the boys' ego whose are defeated when a top class woman like Karen chose a loser like Silvio over themselves.

***

Bank office, Silvio Gesell and Karen Swift are standing at the counter with a bank officer.

Bank Officer: Thank you for coming in today. I see you’d like to change the ownership of the Volkswagen to joint ownership?

Silvio: Yes, that’s correct. Karen and I have decided to make it official.

Karen: (looking confused) Official? Silvio, we barely know each other. Why would we do this?

Silvio: (smiling) It’s just a practical step, Karen. We both benefit from it, and it simplifies things in case of emergencies.

Bank Officer: It’s common to have joint ownership in situations like this. It can provide some added security.

Karen: (still unsure) But I didn’t agree to this. I thought this was just about the loan.

Silvio: (leaning in slightly) Trust me, Karen. It’s for your protection too. It’ll keep things smooth if anything unexpected happens.

Karen: (frowning) I didn’t expect this… I didn’t even know you were serious.

Silvio: (softly) I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t think it was important. Just think of it as a gesture of trust.

Bank Officer: If you’re both in agreement, I can proceed with the paperwork.

Karen: (pausing, glancing at Silvio) I’m not sure. I mean, it feels a bit… rushed.

Silvio: (firmly but gently) Sometimes we have to take bold steps, Karen. It’s just a title. It doesn’t change anything between us.

Karen: (hesitant) I guess… I just need some time to think about it.

Silvio: (nodding) Of course. But consider this: it shows I believe in our connection.

Karen: (thinking) You really believe that?

Silvio: Absolutely. This isn’t just about the car; it’s about partnership.

Karen: (taking a deep breath) Okay, if you think it’s for the best…

Silvio: I do.

Karen: Alright then. Let’s do it.

Bank Officer: Great! I’ll get the paperwork ready.

Karen: (smiling faintly) I suppose it’ll be an adventure.
