Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 48: The Fake Meets the Real Deal

"What's their aim?" Xu Luo was puzzled.

When invading others, people generally followed the principle of proximity. No one would travel far to invade.

The reason was that the farther the distance, the higher the transfer channel cost.

Using Bronze Tier 1 as a basic unit, the closest distance had a one-fold consumption, meaning one point. At distance two, Bronze Tier 1 consumed two points.

Now, the transfer fee for Bronze Tier 9 was ninety points, meaning the opponent was ten Divine Realm coordinate points away, with a tenfold consumption.

Invading from such a distance was extremely unwise.

Take the human Sword Saints, for example. At Silver Tier 1, consumption was ten times that of Bronze. Ascending one tier added one to the base, and with the tenfold distance consumption, it became a hundredfold, requiring 200 faith power per unit.

Over 2,000 human Sword Saints would cost 400,000 to 500,000 in transfer fees.

This was just for Silver Tier 1. Tier 2 would be 300, Tier 3 400. The higher the tier, the greater the transfer cost. Who would pay such a price to invade him?

After all, you don't know if you can recover your costs!

Now, these five people had spent several million just on transfer fees, plus five avatars and building the transfer channel. The consumption was already enormous, not to mention the unit losses during the invasion.

What was the point of spending such a fortune on one invasion?

"This isn't an invasion!" Xu Luo wasn't a fool. After a moment's thought, he realized only revenge would drive someone to do this.

But the question remained: who would be willing to pay such a high price to take revenge on a student?

The range of suspects narrowed considerably.

He wondered if it was someone he had offended, or if it was because of—the seed!

Xu Luo's heart tightened. The seed quota was a big deal, and surely many would be envious. Now that he had obtained this quota, others would certainly be upset.

However, regardless of who sent these people, Xu Luo intended to keep them here and destroy their Divine Realms, absorbing them.

The Acid Zerg quickly transferred into the opponent's Divine Realm. Although they were soon discovered and killed by the opponent's guard units, Xu Luo gained a general understanding of their defenses.

"Boss, that kid is probing our Divine Realm!" As Xu Luo investigated their Divine Realm, the owners naturally discovered this.

"What's there to fear? It's not like he can invade our Divine Realm," the lead youth said dismissively.

Although their most elite units had been deployed, their Divine Realm base still had some Silver tier units guarding it, along with other Bronze tier units. The opponent was already impressive fighting their main force one against five; he didn't believe they had the strength left to attack their Divine Realms.

Hearing this, the others relaxed. That's right! Although the opponent had shown surprising strength with numerous units, they were now tied up here. If the opponent chose to split their forces, it would actually be beneficial for them.

Unfortunately, what they didn't know was that Xu Luo's Zerg were far more numerous than they imagined. They were currently facing less than half of his forces.

Moreover, after they had lost a large number of units, some of the Earth Dragon Zerg originally meant to deal with them could be reassigned.

Looking at his remaining faith power, Xu Luo sighed. He had originally planned to save it to buy breeding cards to refresh the Queen's egg-laying times, but now it seemed this reserve faith power needed to be used.

Earth Dragon Zerg were Silver Tier 9, and with the Silver tier base plus one, transferring one required 1,000 faith power. Xu Luo used up all his remaining faith power to transfer 15,000 Earth Dragon Zerg to the five people's Divine Realms.

In his home Divine Realm, he deliberately didn't kill quickly, instead engaging the enemy. If the losses were too great and the opponent cut off the transfer channel connection, it would be counterproductive.

With the opponent's units still here, disconnecting would mean abandoning these units. It depended on whether the opponent was willing to do so.

The moment the Earth Dragon Zerg counter-invaded, all five people discovered it. However, they didn't take it seriously, instead thinking the opponent was too arrogant to split their forces while fighting them.

But when they mobilized their guard units, they realized things weren't as they thought. The opponent's units were all Silver Tier 9, extremely powerful.

The five weren't true invaders or hunters, so they usually didn't maintain many troops. They generally maintained a certain number, only temporarily increasing when needed. They couldn't afford to maintain a large force long-term while also having to pay tributes.

But now they faced a problem.

The opponent, while fighting one against five, still had the strength to invade them.

"How does he have so many units?" Looking at the others, one of the avatars couldn't help but exclaim.

"A freshman with so many units, no special terrain or buildings in his Divine Realm. Who do you think he is?" the lead youth asked gravely.

"Could it be..." The others weren't fools and quickly realized only one type of person would raise so many troops.

"That's right, we've encountered a real hunter, and a top-tier one at that!" The lead youth, named Qi Ze, looked very displeased.

Initially, the information from the Xiang family only said this was a first-year student with mutated species, so he hadn't taken it too seriously. Unexpectedly, this carelessness had led them into their current situation.

"Boss, my guard forces have been completely wiped out!" The one with Elven units suddenly spoke up in panic.

"I used Divine Arts and various spell scrolls, but only managed to kill a portion. How are his units so strong? Is this really a freshman? Haven't we encountered a God Fighter?"

To suffer such losses without even seeing the opponent's face was unimaginable in the past.

"So fast?" Qi Ze was stunned. How much time had passed? The Divine Realm still had guarding Silver tier units and numerous Bronze tier units. Not to mention travel time, even killing should take some time!

"The opponent used teleportation scrolls to directly transfer units in front of mine, and then it was a massacre!" The youth's face was bitter. With his active forces killed, it meant his Divine Realm had fallen.

This was despite him personally intervening and using years of accumulated resources, but to no avail.

At this moment, he silently cursed. If they didn't have to hand over a certain amount of faith power every month, and if the Divine Realm's output didn't have to prioritize supporting the main family, how could they be so weak?

The Divine Realm had numerous rare terrains, but what use were they now?
