Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 68: New Zerg Creatures

Although it was an army composed of a large group of mixed forces, under unified command, countless units worked together with clear divisions of labor. Tanks in front, archers and throwers behind, and mage units at the back - the layers were distinct, and their combat power was not to be underestimated.

Despite the millions-strong army attacking from several directions, with most being Bronze-tier units and only about ten percent Silver-tier, with few elites and Lords, the alien races initially believed their joint army could sweep through and rout the hunting team.

Who in the novice Divine Realm, apart from a few war maniacs, could field an army of several million?

Now, their view had changed.

Spells thundered in attack, and various war machines were constructed.

But the opponent's units were too bizarre.

Not only were their physical and magical defenses terrifyingly high, but they also possessed powerful combat abilities, extremely fast movement speeds, and could even burrow underground.

If not for their lack of spellcasting abilities, the aliens might have already prepared to retreat.

With their prized magical attacks not fully effective at this stage, it came down to the tiers of the units themselves.

Numerous Bronze-tier units, especially mages, could devastatingly strike even Silver-tier units if they could restrain them.

But the prerequisite was being able to break through their defenses.

The Earth Dragon Zerg, possessing Dragonkin bloodlines, had very high dual resistances. Moreover, being Silver Tier 9 elites, they had huge advantages in both tier and strength. The area covered by spell attacks on the battlefield was vast, naturally making it difficult to strike them effectively.

Furthermore, when faced with spell attacks, the Earth Dragon Zerg could burrow to avoid them, so relying solely on spell attacks to cause massive casualties was unrealistic.

What truly caused heavy losses for the Earth Dragon Zerg were the Silver-tier elites and various Lords interspersed among the numerous units.

Whether Bronze or Silver Lords, their strength was formidable. When encountered, the Earth Dragon Zerg couldn't resist and died in large numbers.

At this point, Xu Luo was using the existing Earth Dragon Zerg to buy time, disrupt the enemy's formation, and engage in attrition warfare.

This was his home ground, continuously nurturing new units, while the enemy was rootless, their unit losses were permanent.

Although his losses were also heavy, he had the previous income as a foundation. Moreover, the corpses of these units were also a significant gain.

Various genes and talents could be obtained in abundance.

Although many were unusable, those that could be used would greatly enhance the Zerg's strength after application.

In the enemy's formation, several Silver-tier Lords were the most lethal main force. If not for the Queen being unable to move, the casualties wouldn't have been so high.

Looking at his gene pool, Xu Luo hesitated, wondering whether to use that gene now.

He liked to keep something in reserve and didn't really want to expose all his trump cards to others.

But thinking of the current losses, he didn't persist.

Worm: Sub-Bronze tier unit.

Skill: Cocoon!

This was a creature not even at Bronze tier, like the Crawler at the beginning, also considered a member of the crawler class.

But Worms were not useless units; this had been proven, with decent development potential.

In fact, Worms once held a status similar to Crawlers, also belonging to the ignored, useless creatures.

At that time, a female from the Mocha civilization got this creature as her starting unit and was ridiculed endlessly.

However, unexpectedly, she researched a unique advancement path herself, gradually elevating the Worm's status.

It was somewhat like how Zuo Tianyao developed human units, raising the status of a species.

The ultimate unit of Worms - the Hell Nether Butterfly - is still a unique advancement path mastered only by the Mocha civilization.

Xu Luo had forgotten from which unfortunate soul he had extracted this gene, but with this basic creature, his gene pool became richer, and the Zerg gained another advancement path.

The Mocha civilization's advancement path was confidential, just like humans' three major advancement paths for human units. But some paths had been exposed or researched by others and published due to lack of follow-up.

Worms had many advancement directions.

Xu Luo's choice wasn't one researched by others in the market. When he obtained this creature, the Zerg Overmind already had its unique evolution method, and it didn't need to absorb other genes to evolve like his previous Zerg.

Combining all known evolution methods for Worms in the market, the Overmind system spent a large number of evolution points and faith power to create a unique evolution path.

This should also be considered the most complete evolution path Xu Luo currently possessed.

Worm -> Striped Butterfly (Bronze Tier 1) -> Flame Butterfly (Bronze Tier 5) -> Emperor Butterfly (Bronze Tier 9) -> Butterfly Fairy (Silver Tier 4 Elite) -> Butterfly Queen (Silver Tier 9 Lord) -> Butterfly Monarch (Gold Tier 4 Monarch) or Butterfly Fairy -> Butterfly General (Silver Tier 9 Elite) -> Soul Butterfly (Gold Tier 2 Elite)

This was the complete advancement direction for Worms, reaching Gold tier with Monarch level.

Their evolution only required evolution points and faith power.

There were two paths, with Lords and Monarchs having quantity limits. Only one Butterfly Monarch, ten Lords, and no limits for the others.

In classification, these also belonged to the Zerg.

Higher tiers currently lacked sufficient faith power and evolution points, but a batch of Butterfly Fairies could still be produced.

After merging with the Worm gene, they also needed to be produced by the Queen, occupying egg quantities. This was also why Xu Luo hesitated, as Earth Dragon Zerg were clearly stronger.

Bronze-tier butterflies were actually very fragile, only improving somewhat at Silver tier.

Due to limited evolution points and faith power, Xu Luo only chose to produce 3,000 Butterfly Fairies.

Butterfly Fairies were Silver Tier 4 elite units. Their combat power wasn't particularly strong, with little attack power, but their support abilities were formidable.

They could not only heal but also possessed hallucinatory abilities.

At this moment, in one direction, 3,000 Butterfly Fairies flew over. As their wings fluttered, some powder was continuously scattered around. The attacking enemy legion suddenly became chaotic and eventually turned on each other.

Seeing this, Xu Luo was very satisfied. This was just with 3,000 Butterfly Fairies; wouldn't it be even more terrifying with larger numbers?

Choosing them didn't seem to be a mistake.

It wasn't just powerful individual strength that could play a significant role.
