Shuttling Between the Two Worlds

Chapter 98: Mission, start! [2]

It was more than a week ago that Lugh joined Team 7. Originally, he was made to join after the higher-ups decided that they are still lacking a single member.

When Lugh and Light sparred, they were both at SS+ Rank. But now..

"5 days ago, I sensed that you broke through SSS- Rank. 3 days ago, Kaede told me that you've broken through SSS Rank. Now, you're at SSS+ Rank?"

Irna vented out her disbelief. Even she who has much experience of this world couldn't believe at what happened just now.

"Now.. Lugh wouldn't be chosen as his disciple if not for his talent. If you look at it, wouldn't this be completely natural?"

Meili said so.

"T-that's right."

After Kaede stated her opinion, they talked about other things, so as to digest that information first. It didn't take long for them to talk about the upcoming big mission, the Origin Slate Mission.

"The Origin Slate mission is the biggest one that we received up until now. Because the Deities on our side will entangle the Zerg Deities during the distraction, they will make sure that they'll detect any Deity who would sneak behind and steal the slate."

Originally, the Alliance was informed that the zergs would create a diversion to bring back that slate to the zerg world. They were bold enough to leave it be to their Demigods, so as to not arouse the Alliance's suspicions.

What's more, the Demigods will surely receive God-Ranked Artifacts for this mission. With this, the zergs thought that they have a higher chance of success.

However, they never would've thought that there was someone that successfully left their Divine Senses in the Slate itself. What's more, he got unparalleled stealth, too.

This only showed up for the first time in the Alliance's history. Even when they scanned it with a High Rank Deity's Divine Sense, they still couldn't detect it.

With that, the Alliance prepared a counterattack.

"There's a new change to the master plan."

When Irna said that, the members suddenly became serious.

"At this point in time? The mission would start in 2 days."

Light is the one who asked the question that they've wanted to ask.

"He got something to do with this."

She pointed towards Lugh. The members didn't rush to ask her questions, but let her explain it more first.

"I saw his newly awakened trait. It has the ability to swap space with someone."

They were shocked after hearing that. Inferring the change to the plan with his trait, almost everyone here successfully deduced that it works on Deities!

If it doesn't it's impossible for him to change the master plan itself.

"I will count on everyone else after using that trait. You can treat me as out of combat at that time."

" Alrighty! You can count on me!"

Mane is the one who responded.

"M-me too. I'll p-protect you."

"No worries."

""Understood, Idol's disciple!""

"You can count on us."

Everyone replied to Lugh, which he did not expect. He only told that to them for formalities, but it seems that everyone here is a sincere person.

"You've heard them already. You'll be alright."

The team leader, Irna, said it last.

"Then, I will count on you guys."

2 days quickly passed. During that time, I accepted one last mission, raising my credits to more than 9,000 credits again. With that, I bought a Demigod-Ranked dagger and mechanic-related materials.

I wanted to try dual-wielding quickly, so I tried to do it a few days ago.

Well, it is quite effective. I asked Light to have a spar against me, and it is effective when it comes to blocking nearby incoming attacks. The reach of a dagger is shorter, thus I chose to do it this way.

I've also learned some God-Rank dagger techniques from the library. One of them is useful with my current style.

"Today's the day, huh."

Maen spoke beside me. Even he, someone whom I judged to be complicated, is showing a serious expression. I can tell that it's not acting, too.

"Let's hope for a smooth victory. If things go according to the plan, we'll have it easy."

Light comforted us.

'Sorry to say this, but things doesn't seem to go according to my plans every single DAMN time..'

Recalling the things that I've gone through, things don't really go according to my wishes. Me and Aria being transported to a faraway world is definitely the most unexpected thing that happened.

To top it off, that's also the same planet where the zergs planned to make their bridgehead.

Even that time when I first entered this world. Who would have expected that I'll suffer from a conspiracy?

"Everyone. The commander is calling us to her special docking area."

As a special mission, the preparations for it were special as well. Take note that Team 7 only got this after 20 years of consistently good work.

We went towards the docking area silently. The aura of seriousness here is too thick that if I didn't train well for 50 years, I'll probably be overwhelmed by it.

Once we arrived, we are greeted by a dozen of Deities together with Commander Lucia.

"Now that everyone's here, I'll introduce you to each other."

She pointed towards the female elf beside her.

"This is Vera, my trusted aide. She's a High-Rank Deity."

"Greetings, everyone."

She said with a soft voice while her golden hair cascaded as she removed the head part of her Armor.

As Commander Lucia's aide, she, of course, is an elf.

"Hut!"

All of us saluted after her greeting. This is very natural since she has a higher rank than us. After that, we stood straight, waiting for what she will say next.

"Hm?"

Suddenly, she stared straight at me for a second. Though it didn't last long, I am guessing that she initiated mental communication with Commander Lucia.

"We'll be waiting of your success."

""Understood!""

A white glow enveloped the docking area. Inscribed on the floor are the combination of runic symbols and runic characters.

In an instant, small cubic spaces can be seen on the walls of this docking area. It ejected pure energies and supplemented the array on the floor.

With the help of mechanical funnels, this process became even faster. After a minute, the array on the floor is saturated.

"I announce the start of this mission!"

The array emitted a dazzling gold light. After that, I felt that we are getting sent to a faraway place.

As I opened my eyes, the vast universe greeted me. Thanks to the Armor that we're wearing right now, we are protected against the dangers in space.

Even if one is a Demigod, it's still much more convenient that we wear Armor instead of continuously using our power to protect us against it.

"According to the plan, we'll wait until the targets arrive."

If I'm not mistaken, the place where we're at now is behind enemy lines. Since there's a gap of empty space behind the zerg side, they couldn't do what they usually do, which is to use planets as a station.

Still, they have artificial planets around this place together with some patrols. After all, they'll only have patrols in this area whenever someone breaks through their nigh-impenetrable defense line in the frontlines. The number of times that this happened can be counted on a single hand.

Though, Commander Lucia's ability to transport others in this place is what made the plan possible.

The 1st plan is to meet up with others who are hiding on the backlines, then break through the special line in the frontline and bring this Origin Slate back.

They have confidence in this plan as the zergs wouldn't have expected this. Who would expect someone to send troops behind the enemy lines?

Moreover, their defense here is much laxer than the one from the frontline; the zergs are confident that no one can sneak past them.

"They're here."

After a not-so-long wait, the targets are now spotted.

Announcement

Woah, I couldn't believe that we're already nearing 100 chapters... I didn't expect before that I'll reach this far when I started writing this; with a chapter per day update to boot! Well, I'd probably do something like 1 chapter/day during the week of my 100th chapter.

Happy reading, folks!
