Single Stat System

Chapter 38: Steal!

Sakim didn't waste any moment as he inserted the [Black Key] at the hole of the chest to unlock it. He was just hoping that this time, he should at least get better equipment to use.

Even so, Sakim wasn't expecting too much. After all, he didn't know the value of this chest and he didn't want to feel disappointed later on if this chest turned out to be a trash bin.

So with a click, the key then entered the chest's hole. It also vanished right away as the [Black Chest] slowly opened on its own.

Sakim suddenly felt a mana fluctuation in his surroundings as it turned out that this chest was the cause. At that moment, Sakim felt that something good was going to happen. This chest must be a good item!

With that in mind, Sakim readied himself to be surprised. Even so, he knew as well that his surprise wouldn't shock him for too long as he would try his best to suppress it at any cost. After all, he already had enough of this. He had failed to control his state of mind many times already in the past few hours of venturing this world. He even felt that he was more and more becoming like someone who couldn't control their emotion. As an old man who had already seen and acquired many treasures in his past life, and was already numb to it, he felt that feeling excited or agitated to whatever kind of wonders he could encounter in this world was not like him.

So then, Sakim took a deep breath as he didn't even blink while fixing his gaze at the black chest that was now opening its mouth. And when the chest was finally fully opened, Sakim's eye couldn't help but widen again a little.

"P-pet Egg?" Sakim muttered in wonder before a new smile formed on his lips again.

What he saw was an egg of which size was twice bigger than his head. Dark blue spots were blended on its dirty white color as it exuded out an aura of a majestic emperor.

"So it turned out to be a pet egg huh," Sakim muttered to himself. In many RPG games, He knew that there was a thing called pets. And he could tell that this egg would turn into a pet once hatched. On what rank or level of pet would it be, Sakim had no clue. Even so, this gain was still satisfying. It appeared that his journey in this world wouldn't be so lonely anymore.

So after a moment, Sakim finally reached his right hand towards the egg as he had made contact with it. Perhaps, the System would tell him what kind of egg was this, right?

So then, the moment Sakim's hand and the pet egg made contact, the System that he was expecting had appeared.

[Pet Egg]

• ???

But to his disappointment, there was no information available displayed on the window screen.

Tsk! Trying to act mysterious huh? Sakim could only click his tongue as his excitement had indeed subsided greatly. But thinking about it now, most items that had their information being classified were most likely precious items. Could it be that this egg was actually an incredible item? Perhaps, the beast inside it was on the top of the food chain?

And just like that, Sakim's thought had run wild again for a good while. A smile and frown would appear on his face alternately before a long sigh finally triumphed in the end. Because he had no way of determining the value of this egg as of now and it really made him disappointed.

So knowing that there was nothing else he could do on that [Pet Egg], Sakim put it in his inventory. The knowledge he received before didn't mention anything about how to hatch it. That said, Sakim assumed that the System wasn't responsible for this job. Perhaps, he could find an answer in the beginner's village, right? Maybe there was an NPC there that could help him.

"Now then..." So after throwing the egg in his Inventory, and knowing that there was nothing else he needed to do in that place, Sakim turned around as he fixed his gaze at the dungeon exit. But when he looked at it, he could only sigh deeply again as he took a step forward.

When Sakim walked closer to the dungeon exit, another sigh came out from his mouth. Indeed, Sakim could tell clearly that the barrier he was planning to steal a while ago was now nowhere to be found anymore. It appeared that the moment he defeated the Hidden Dungeon Boss, the barrier vanished together with it. It was really just a pity that he wasn't able to steal such a precious item.

But come to think of it now, why did he not level up after defeating a very strong boss? Was it really that difficult to level up in this world?

And also, why did the System did not inform him about how many exp points or other things he received after killing the monster boss? Was it because he died that was why he didn't get the notification? It really was a pity that he wasn't able to calculate how many experience points were needed to level up in each level. If only there was an experience point indicator in the System, then he wouldn't have any trouble thinking about it. Sakim could only sigh deeply as he was dying to know how many experience points he needed to level up. If only he could steal...

Wait!

Sakim suddenly thought of something as an excited smile formed on his lips. How could he not think about it earlier on? Since his passive skill: Greed could steal everything he touched, then perhaps, once he touched a certain monster, he could steal their experience points as well, right? If that was the case, then he wouldn't need to worry about leveling up too slow. He might not even need to go to the beginner's village anymore just to take some quests that could give him more experience points. He could just steal his way on leveling up, right?

With that in mind, and since his job was done here in this hidden dungeon, Sakim hurriedly took a step forward to exit the dungeon. It would be best if he could find a swarm of monsters around.

But after which was done, the surroundings then suddenly turned dimmer. Sakim turned his gaze behind him as he'd just noticed that the light inside the hidden dungeon was only limited inside and couldn't pierce its way out of the dungeon. This thing was really a wonder for him. He was even thinking if this dungeon would still go back to normal of which it was supposedly dark inside.

In any case, it wasn't that important now. Sakim shifted his gaze ahead of him as he looked for his new target. He was just hoping that what he was thinking was could be done.

And of course, it didn't take long for Sakim to find his next target. After all, the thing that was lighting the surrounding area was the monsters themselves and it wasn't hard for him to find them.

Ghost Fire! Sakim muttered the name of the monster he was spotting on as it floated peacefully in the midair. Never it thought that an incoming disaster was now coming at it.

With that said, Sakim went closer to one of the Ghost Fires in the area. If his guess was correct, if he could steal their experience points or even their stats, then surely, getting stronger in the fastest way possible wasn't a problem anymore.

Steal! That was the only thing running in Sakim's mind. He couldn't help but become excited as he even felt that he was now already standing on top of the world.
