Vol 1 Chapter 6: The Master vs The Disciple Part 1

...

A month has passed since I got transported into this world and met Shin, who's my self-proclaimed master

Well...as things stand, I did get use to calling him Master Shin ever since we started training...

The first three days of training, Master Shin taught me all about proper sword handling, as well as footwork and proper stance

He said to me that "With those basics integrated within your body, you can at least execute a good swing without trying to"

To my surprise, he wasn't lying about it. I did get a sharper, concise swings right after I got done with the first training regime

Although it was good and has a good sound to it, Master Shin raised the difficulty for me by ordering me to swing in different directions as well as swinging while moving

A week of that training, and finally, he let me advance to the next training regime, which was different sword moves, especially slash, stab, chop, deflect, block, and parry

To you, it should've taken more time than a month or two for me to get these four training regimes, but the reason why I was able to finish them all is because of the skills that I gained that I never even knew I had

A few weeks ago, I learned that whenever I close my eyes and try to clear my mind, a passage of texts would eventually form and show up. From there, it will show me the skills that I have

As of now, all I have are passive skills, which are Quick Witted, Stamina Max, Mana I, and Swordsmanship Max

Quick Witted, from what the passage of texts displayed, is a passive skill where you can quickly learn other passive skills or active skills with ease. This is the skill that got me the other passive skills that I got right now

Stamina is more of an interesting thing, its referring to my fatigue that I got from doing certain actions. The higher this passive skill is, the less fatigue that I will get, giving me more endurance as well as more time to train late at night. Ever since I got it up to max, I have never felt fatigue in every training that I do, or maybe it just drastically lowered the fatigue that I'm getting and I'm just not feeling it at this point

Next is Mana, same concept with Stamina, the more I cast or use spells, the higher this passive skill will be, but since I haven't got any active skills myself, I have never touched or used my mana

Last but not the least is my Swordsmanship. From the passage of texts description, it helps me to use any types of swords as well as it helps me to adjust my form, footwork, and handle accordingly. I've never tried any swords except Longsword yet, but with my Swordsmanship maxed out, I think it will all work out just as intended

Due to these skills that I have right now, the training regime that Master Shin set up for me was quite a breeze. He was mostly surprised at my endurance as well as the quick pace of learning his instructions, but as day passes by, he eventually had formed a look on his face as he was saying "Its only natural if its you" to me

...

And now, we're back on the present, Master Shin told me that this fifth training regime will be the last thing he'll be teaching me. I can do whatever I want right after I'm done with it

"At this point, I shouldn't be questioning everything, *sigh*"

"Is something the matter?"

"Nothing, I'm just still amazed by how far you've mastered the last four training regimes that I've given you. That regime took me a year, but you did the last 4 in just a month"

"What can I say? I'm a natural"

I said to Master Shin, while hiding the fact that it would've taken me longer than a year without my passive skills

"Don't let it get through your head just now, you still haven't cleared my last training regime"

"You've been telling me that since yesterday, but what exactly is the last training regime?"

"Your last training regime will be, Spatial Awareness"

"Spatial Awareness?"

"As of now, you've done nothing, but training on your own with the help of my instructions, but in a real battle, you'll be facing off with different kinds of people. People who have experience in fighting, people who are veterans in the battlefield, and people who can kill you off"

"Uhuh..."

So that's why this time, he has a sword with him...

"In order for you to take what you've learned so far in a real scenario, you and I will be having daily mock battles, no handicaps, no mercies, no any advantages. Just you and me, fighting like our life depends on it"

Huh?! But you said its a mock battle earlier!

Why's it like, if I die, that's just it?!

"Uh, will the mock battle end if one of us can no longer fight?"

"No, the mock battle ends if I deemed it"

Yikes, this will probably take a while since he will be the one who will call it off...

"You should have nothing to worry about. You've gone this far, Surely you can at least survive in more than 1 minute"

So he doesn't intend to lose even here?!

...well he did say that there will be no handicaps or any advantages to both sides...

I took a deep breath, and raised my sword at him, declaring my eagerness to start the mock battle

"Well, would you look at that! You even have a fiercer look than what I had"

...? Did he just flinch?

...

Master Shin then showed a hint of smile, as if showing a hint of proudness

"Are you ready?"

"Yes"

"Then..."

Without any further ado, he showed me again the dark aura like last time, slowly leaking out from his body, eventually becoming more and more intense...

...until suddenly-

"?!-"

...

...He closed the gap on me again once more...
