Succubated!

v2 POLL FOUR: Premium Versions

Many authors on Scribble Hub offer “premium” access somehow as a way of supporting the authors’ work. For Succubated, we opened a ko-fi  page after one reader wanted to donate a tip (thank you!) and we plan on sharing any income with other authors who contribute to the Nexus NYC universe—like The Wolf Among the Woods, who writes Parturient. Some of us have expenses that could really benefit from some income!

There are lots of ways authors do this:

  • ”Tip jars” like Ko-fi for anyone who wants to help support (easy, we already have that)
  • Patreon subscriptions to get access to bonus content or get chapters earlier. (We’re not likely to do this since we want to spend most of our available time getting new content released, but it’s worth considering.)
  • A book version of some kind, usually through another platform like Amazon or Smashwords. (This is probably our favorite option, since it also helps new readers find the series!)

So here’s the question. If you can afford it—and it’s totally fine if you can’t, we always want to make these stories available for free too!—would you ever buy a reasonably priced ebook or print book of Succubated? Based on the usual pricing for books of this length, Succubated would probably be sold in two parts, each around US$3-4. We’d probably consider including at least one “bonus chapter” only available in the book, and books are also more nicely formatted than the way web novels / online series show up on websites. (It’s extra work, but worth it.) Plus, it’s nice to have a book version in case websites ever go offline or out of business!

Last note: for readers who can’t afford to buy books, some authors offer “advance reader” programs where you can get a copy of a book before it comes out (usually just ebook) for free if you’re willing to write a review on a site like Goodreads, Amazon, etc. We might consider doing that too, especially since Scribble Hub readers are already “advance readers!”

Does any of this sound appealing to you?
