That Time I got Reincarnated as Son of an Idol

Chapter 60 – Within the Hoshino Family First

Edited by The Darkest Knight#4796

Weak light filtered through the corridor where I waited for Miyako and Ai. At the edge of my eyes, I could see a bit of black mist drifting in different shapes. However, they were never as clear as the shadows or ghosts I saw at Jimina's place. Although, at that time, the spirits were more like human shadows.

This time, however, what I saw was not clear. Sometimes it felt like it was just a ball, sometimes, it was just smoke, but I never saw the black mist actually take the shape of something. Like before—

I wondered if this was due to the aftermath of Ruby's kiss. Well, this world is an anime-like world, so it's not strange if there's a power-up or stabilization from going berserk with just a simple kiss.

For now, at least, I don't feel that something beyond logic is trying to take my mind away like before. Although I could still see the black mist, I didn't feel like I was connecting with that indistinct being like what happened at Azki's concert.

I guess Ruby's presence also helped me, who was currently lying on the chair with her head on my lap. She seemed a bit tired after crying and lay down without falling asleep, letting me play with her hair and gently pat her head.

"So you can see unseen things? Like Ghosts or something?" Ruby commented after listening to what I told her about what happened to me.

I basically didn't want to tell Ruby about what happened to me, however, after seeing what happened a few minutes ago. I decided to be honest with her about this. I didn't know if twins could feel each other more strongly than normal siblings. But when I heard that, Ruby could accurately tell what I was feeling. In other words, it proves that there is some truth to it.

I thought there would be more harm than good in keeping what I was experiencing from Ruby, who could almost understand what was happening to me mentally. However, Ruby may not know or understand why I had such feelings. She still understood that something was wrong with me.

That's why rather than keeping what happened a secret, it made it possible for Ruby to do something or think something that might be beyond what I thought Ruby could do. Talking to her honestly would be better in a situation like this.

"Hm, is that bad?" Ruby asked with her eyes still full of questions.

"Yeah, it definitely felt horrible, to be honest, I suppose. I mean, I saw a black shadow resembling a human and gave off a negative aura that gave me goosebumps. I don't think it was a pleasant experience." I answered her with a low voice as I didn't want any supernatural being to hear me. I don’t think those ghosts are nearby as I felt nothing close to me.

To be honest, this incident made me remember a manga about a high school girl who can suddenly see ghosts, and I can say that what the high school girl saw was worse than what I saw. The manga's depiction of ghosts or otherworldly creatures is very creative and horrifying.

Honestly, compared to what's often shown in horror manga, what I saw wasn't anything genuinely horrifying. However, seeing a black shadow that resembled a human and gave off a negative aura and cursed people was terrifying enough.

"Hm, I wonder why? But I feel like you had this kind of expectation?"

"What do you mean?" I must have been a bit surprised by Ruby's answer because my eyes widened for a moment, and I was dumbfounded for a while.

"Well, I could feel how you were scared, wanted to cry and maybe run away, but I didn't feel anything about the shock, and it felt like you knew this was going to happen to you," Ruby answered my question without hesitation. Her pinkish eyes looked at me as if she could read inside my heart.

"Hahaha, it feels like I can't hide something from you." I didn't know why, but I laughed for a little while, teasing her by pinching her small nose… Yes, talking to Ruby like this makes my heart and mind clearer. However, I can see various black fogs everywhere. For now, I don't feel any negativity and am not even that afraid of their existence.

"I don't know what to say. However, in my country in my previous life, mysticism was still quite strong. Plus, there are many stories where people who are about to die experience supernatural events. Considering that both of us are also supernatural, it's not strange for me to think I will experience something like this one day." I explained my reasoning to Ruby, who expressed, 'Yeah, that's true.'

"I wonder if someday— I will see something too." Ruby gave me an absurd sentence with a serious face.

"What are you saying? It's not good, you know, and we don't want to make our mother trouble too." I responded while teasing her again.

"Geez— Stop doing that!!" Ruby responded and got up from my lap. She pouted before saying, "I just don't want it to be just you experiencing this. I also want to feel what you're going through, and I want to at least lessen the burden you're experiencing right now." Ruby said that while staring at me with a dead-serious expression on her face— giving me a notorious reliable feeling and warmth toward my heart.

Yes, her words made me feel so happy that I think right now my face is probably full of smiles.

"Hearing you say that already makes me happy. But as a big brother. I don't want my little sister to experience something like this."

"Geez, you always treat me like a child. Even though it's true that I'm your little sister, and I love being treated and coddled like one."

I never thought she would say something like that in such a proud tone.

"Even so, I'm a mature girl who can handle the burden with you," Ruby repeated while waving her hair as if those kind gestures a mature girl does.

"Mature— Huh—" I couldn't help but respond to her like that.

"Yeah, I've lived twelve years in my past life, and I've lived twelve years now. In other words, I'm a very mature adult woman!!!" Ruby said while pointing her finger and showing me a proud like-expression.

Even though she said it like that and it may be true. In the end, she rarely acted like an adult and still felt like she was not far away from her previous age.

"Well, if you really are an adult— You should stop sneaking into my bed."

When I said that, Ruby responded by giving me a cute smile and an oblivious expression.

“Yeah, basically that is that, whereas this is this. Hah- Really, I'm happy that you think like that, but you know. With you by my side, I feel very good, and the things I see are more under control. I'm very grateful to have you by my side. You don't have to do anything more than that for me."

Ruby gave me a blooming smile as she, without any hesitation, hugged me and said in my face.

"In other words, we should sleep together often!"

"No, I don't think like that."

"You two really get along—"

Until the two of us heard Ai's voice as she came out from the counseling room with Miyako.

"Anyway, Aqua must be tired. We're going home."
