That Time I got reincarnated as… The Demon Lord’s butler?! Now I should help her annihilate all Humans while hiding the fact I’m helping them

Ch 57. The Oddities

When the weird trio was close enough, right before our party prepared to fight, something extremely weird happened.

I don't know how to put this into words, I mean, I don't even know how that happened, but somehow, the Hare and the Leprechaun jumped towards us with an insane speed. But that's now what's weird about all this.

You already know Fynx and Kirwha. Both of them have already shown that kind of skills and what they are capable of, but somehow, the duo of weirdos managed to catch them off guard.

It's not like they managed to hit them, in fact, Kirwha and Fynx blocked the strike at the last second, but the thing that was worrying about that, was the fact that they didn't do it on purpose.

In other words, even with their high abilities and speed, both of them were almost finished with a surprise attack, meaning that their reactions were slow or that somehow the weirdos were even faster than they appeared to be. But the fact that neither of those two options appeared to be true, was mortifying us.

“How?!”

“What a close one! Fufu~”

“Ohoho, they are quite a thing, right?”

“Look! They turned pale!”

“Did you say pale?!”

“Yeah, they turned pale!”

“Whkakakaka~!”

“Kiukiukiukiu~!”

“...”

After another of those unsettling jokes, the Hare and Leprechaun continued launching attacks at Kirwha and Fynx. This time, they attacked by the sidelines. Again, thanks to their high speed and the slow reaction of our team, but at the same time by none of them, they were really close to land a hit.

The chain of attacks continued and it was clear that Kirwha and Fynx were in a pinch. Both of them were losing ground, being constantly pushed and forced to step back while on the other hand, the duo of weirdos were simply attacking at high speed.

“W-What do we do, Onii chan?! They need our help!”

“I-I know, but how do we help them? Those two are really fast, I can't do anything against them, and you are a ghost!”

“Awawawa! I don't know!”

We continued looking at the fight between Kirwha, Fynx and the odd pair. Our side of the battle was clearly struggling to hold against those two. Even if they didn't look strong at all, it felt like they were a step in front of us all the time.

I squeezed the handle of the stone sword I was given after the war. I was forced to carry it around with me, even if I’m not good with weapons, because, as the Demon Lord said <<It could be useful someday>>. Sadly, even if I knew how to handle a sword, there's no way I could be a match for those two.

“What if we attacked the Dormouse?!”

“Uh...?”

“Look! He is doing nothing, he is there, looking at the fight, just like us. But I don't think he had the same reasons to be looking that we have…”

“Now that you mention it, there's something really weird going on…”

“S-Shall we try it then, Onii chan?!”

“O-Okay, let's go!”

I gathered all the strength and courage that I could and started running towards the Dormouse with <The Maggot> by my side. But things weren't going to be that easy.

At some point, it felt like we were slowed down by a massive and heavy burden on our shoulders. No, it was something different. It felt as if the world around us had started moving faster than it was less than a second ago.

Before we could do anything about it, the Hare and the Leprechaun were upon us, ready to strike.

But something unexpected happened. Kirwha and Fynx managed to intercept the attack, blocking it and pushing back the dangerous pair.

“It seems like we are finally ahead of them, right kid~?”

“I’m not a kid, I’m 16…”

“16? You look like 24 right now. Fufufu~”
“...”

We left our saviors and those (unnecessary) words behind and continued charging toward the Dormouse. There was something really weird going on here!

“That thing just now… It wasn't normal at all, Onii chan!”

“I know… But who did it?”

“Maybe the Dormouse?”

“Won't that be too obvious?”

“What do you mean…?”

I didn't wanted to tell her what I was thinking. But these three are awfully weird. They are so weird, that there's no way that something as obvious as <The one who looks as if he is doing nothing, is actually supporting the ones doing the hard job> could be true.

No, there was another kind of possible scenario in front of us. One far more dangerous, the one where we were about to open Pandora's box.

You still don't get it? Let me put it simple: What if he was actually doing nothing...?
