The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 50: Shadowqueen

Chapter 50: Shadowqueen

“What do you mean by Eldest Sister huh?” Fang Lin drew closer to the two childish women and loomed himself above them. The twins retreated slightly, seemingly intimidated by his massive frame.

“Do not dare lie to us!” Tao’er drew her face closer to Fang Lin. “We can sense Eldest Sister’s shadow essence emanating from you!”

“Shadow Essence?” Fang Lin could only think of one person with the shadow type essence.

“Yao’er, come out.”

Fang Lin’s shadow wriggled as a little girl with height reaching Fang Lin’s waist appeared. Her cute faced pouted as she went in front of Fang Lin with her arms outstretched on both of her sides.

“Unnn... Do no bother master! Yao’er will protect master! Come near and I will slit your throats!” Yao’er jumped up and down adorably with her knife on her right hand as she said this.

“It’s really Eldest Sister..... I can feel that domineering shadow essence from her....”

“But what happened to her? Why is she like this?” Tao’er and Yue’er could not believe what was happening right now.

At that point, Fang Lin looked towards Lin Xiang. “Look brother Xiang, I do not also know what is happening right now. Why don’t we talk among just five of ourselves in a private place.” Fang Lin glanced towards the confused Tang Ya and Venomshade.

Lin Xiang nodded in agreement. Fang Lin looked towards his teammates and said “I have a private matter to discuss with this Lin Xiang. This will take fast I promise.”

“Hmmph, do take your time. Just make sure you two perverts will not force these girls to have some ‘playtime’ with you!” Tang Ya caressed her broadsword as she uttered that threat.

“Yes, yes I get it!”

........

Inside a private room.

Lin Xiang and Fang Lin sat opposite of each other. The atmosphere could have been serious if not for the curious Yao’er. She approached the nervous Tao’er and Yue’er who shrank back when Yao’er went near. Yao’er touched and stroked the twins’ braids as she looked at Fang Lin reproachedly.

“Master! Give Yao’er these braids too!”

“This perverted bastard! He must have put Eldest Sister under a curse!”

“We will never forgive you!”

Fang Lin said with a sigh “It’s nothing like that. But first, let me ask you two a question” He looked towards the fuming twins. “Are you two from the same assassination organization as Yao’er?”

Lin Xiang who was observing the conversation earlier, was the one who spoke up. “Actually, the assassination organization where Tao’er and Yue’er came from is just a branch organization of Yao’er’s assassination organization.”

“Just a branch?”

Lin Xiang nodded as he continued. ” You can say that Yao’er’s organization is an assassination organization that spans both of the Immortal and God Continent. All the best assassins will be sent for the highest difficulty missions. And because that organization has bases on both the Immortal and God Continent, they can send a Godly Ascender Assassin towards the Immortal Continent and vice versa.”

“In this case,” Lin Xiang looked towards Yao’er who had been happily sitting on Fang Lin’s lap. “This girl you see right here is one of the best assassins in the organization. Her code name was Shadowqueen. Her own essence was perfect for being an assassin. She was also slated to be one of the candidates to be the new head of the organization. From what I heard, she accepted an SSS-class difficulty mission 6 months ago. Then 2 months ago, her jade slip indicated that she failed and was captured. All the assassins have been in uproar after that happened.”

“How come you know a lot about that event?”

Lin Xiang let out a bitter smile. “As I told you earlier, Tao’er and Yue’er came from a branch organization that originated here in the immortal continent. As you can see, they greatly dolize the assassin Shadowqueen. They even have copies of her own shadow essence as a memorabilia.”

“The heck? They really are hardcore fans!”

“Yes I know. And that is the reason why they recognized Yao’er here.” Lin Xiang then squared his shoulders as he continued. “Now let me ask you a question. What happened to one of the most talented assassins that she was reduced to this?”

For this question, Fang Lin just let out a smile. “If I do not want to say it?”

Upon hearing this reply, Lin Xiang just let out an enigmatic smile. “If you do not want to talk about it, then its fine. There is a rule that we assassins all follow. Once you failed your kill and got captured, you are no longer part of the organization. That means this girl right here is no longer our priority. So you can stop worrying about information leaks. Besides, I doubt these two angels beside me will allow me to bring you and Yao’er into danger.”

Fang Lin of course did not entirely believe what Lin Xiang said. He sighed in his mind, knowing that there might be more troubles arriving in the future. “I must really have a good backing here in this sect.” He thought of this before giving Lin Xiang one more question.

“In that case, you three are not only here to attend the selection?”

At this point, Lin Xiang’s eyes narrowed. He let out a slight killing aura towards Fang Lin as he said “Yes, we still have another ‘business’ here. But if I were you, you should not obstruct with our ‘business’. After all,” Lin Xiang and the twins then started to leave. “an assassin hates those who interferes.”

.......

“What did you and that Lin Xiang talk about?” Tang Ya was of course very curious about their private talk. Yao’er at this moment have been fused back with Fang Lin’s shadow.

“Well then, what’s your deal with that Fen Chen?”

“.....”

“Tang Ya stopped questioning Fang Lin after that.

At that moment, they heard the bell signaling the start of the group semi-finals. Fang Lin’s group then started going back into the arena.

Once they arrived, they saw the fight arrangement.

First Match: Fang Lin’s Group vs. Fen Chen’s Group

Second Match: Shadowbane’s Group vs Lin Xiang’s Group.

“It seems like we go first.” Venomshade looked towards the disgruntled Tang Ya as he said “Calm down ok?”

“I am calm!”

“You clearly are not.”

But before Tang Ya could retort, they heard Chu Yang’s summons for the first match. They then went in the arena as they faced off against Feng Chen’s team.

Chu Yang then said “Match Start!” The two teams then assumed their fighting stances.

Feng Chen’s team seemed to be composed of one Peak Qi Condensation and two Ninth Level of Qi Condensation. The strongest among them was a sleazy-looking man with his hair tied on the back of his head.

Once he saw Tang Ya, he said in his nasally voice “Ah greetings, Big Sister Tang Ya. Mother said she misses you a lot.”

Tang Ya just looked away upon hearing this.

At that point, Fang Lin heard what the crowd was muttering.

“Bastard daughter.....”

“Tang Clan.....”

“Fen Clan..”

Fang Lin then made his own conjunction about Tang Ya’s situation. It seems like she had been a bastard daughter between an Elder of the Tang Clan and a maiden from the Fen Clan. And it also seems like she had been living with her mother ever since she was born.

“That explains why is she so irritated about this Fen Chen. Hmmpph, this Fen Chen must be here to bring Tang Ya back!”

Fang Lin then swore to himself that he, as Tang Ya’s friend and maybe lover in the future, must protect her from this sleazy person!

He faced Fen Chen as he said “I am sorry, but it seems like Tang Ya is not interested on returning.”

“Who are you to butt in here?” Fen Chen’s powerful aura appeared as 10 flying swords revolved around him.

“Ten Peak First Stage Flying Swords!” Fang Lin narrowed his eyes upon seeing these swords. It seems like this Fen Chen will be difficult to fight with. These ten swords will provide Fen Chen with a solid defense and an unpredictable offense.

“Why am I allowed to defend Tang Ya?”

At that point, Fang Lin’s mind played many possibilities on what word to say to get this Fen Chen surprised. Once this man is surprised, that’s when Fang Lin will strike!

“It was because I am Tang Ya’s future husband!”

“Eh?”
