The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 89: Makeover

Chapter 89: Makeover

“What the hell happened earlier!” Fang Lin hissed at Bloodspear as they entered the third carriage. As for the mercenary guards, they were in the second carriage. The old man and the brat were of course in the first carriage.

“I have to agree with them because I have no choice but to agree!” Bloodspear hissed back at Fang Lin. The inside of the carriage surprised Fang Lin. It was actually much bigger than what its outside appeared to be.

For Fang Lin’s carriage, it had been filled with miscellaneous stuff. There were foodstuffs in one corner. It was obviously their food. Fang Lin then saw various tools stacked on the other end of the room. Cleaning materials and repairing tools were prevalent there. Fang Lin grimaced, knowing that these these are the tools they will use for maintenance.

There was also a bathroom in the carriage, and it’s separated into male and female. There were three beds at the middle, clearly for resting.

Mina ignored both of them as she went straight towards the bed farthest from them. She went under the cover as she snuggled her pillow.

Fang Lin could only smile at the shy Mina.

At that moment, Fang Lin could feel the carriage moving. This means the carriage was already going towards the Forest of Death. He then noticed a transparent glass attached to the wall. Upon looking through it, Fang Lin could see the outside scenery blurring past by.

He then continued questioning Bloodspear.

“What do you mean you have to agree? You said I was your Guide! What the hell happened to the principle, ‘Stand by your Brothers?’.”

Bloodspear shifted uncomfortably. He lowered his voice as he whispered to Fang Lin. “The Laws of the Tian Ji Empire was something that the Mercenary Organization cannot ignore. As long as we do not violate these laws, the Mercenary Organization will have no problem.”

“The laws of the Tian Ji Empire? Does that bratty boy represent that same laws too?”

“Shuush! Do not say those things out loud!” Bloodspear hurriedly covered Fang Lin’s mouth. He just answered him solemnly,

“The best that I can say right now is that we do not have any way to disregard what they want. As long as it is within my bottom line, we can allow them to do as they please.”

“But if they surpass my bottom line,” Bloodspear’s eyes started to narrow. “They shall step over my dead body first!”

Fang Lin could just cry to himself, “But what is your bottom line?”

Fang Lin then sighed sadly as he knew that his fate in the Forest of Death was sealed as of now.

After an hour of awkward silence, Fang Lin felt the carriage slowing down. It did not stop, its speed just became slower. He looked outside the window, and he saw the previous vibrant surroundings turn murky and dark.

The trees that he can see were now dead trees with their branches limp and hanging. The soil on the ground were also black, and they seem to have a murky texture on it. The air seems to look a little gray and stale. From inside the carriage, Fang Lin could see thick plumes of miasma further inside the forest,

“So, this is the Forest of Death.” From such a sinister name, what Fang Lin saw did not disappoint him.

Suddenly, Fang Lin squinted his eyes as he saw 30 silhouettes approaching the first carriage. When they got closer, Fang Lin realized that these figures were not living beings at all!

All of them have no skins on their body. For some of them, they still managed retain some muscles and organs attached to them. Most only existed as skeletons. All of them seem to hold weapons as they approached the carriage.

“First Grade Undead!” From what Fang Lin researched, the grade of the undead is comparable to the strength of the practitioner. Each successive grade of the undead also has their own differing characteristics.

First Grade Undead

—–First Stage Strength, mostly made up of skeleton and hanging bits of flesh.

Second Grade Undead

—–Second Stage Strength, body covered with muscles and organs with some patchy skin.

Third Grade Undead

—–Third Stage Strength, looks like a human being except it looked closer to a newly dead human being. No basic emotions yet.

Fourth Grade Undead

—–Fourth Stage Strength, can command other undead too. Can understand basic communication, but not rational enough.

Fifth Grade Undead

—–Fifth Stage Strength, people at this level of will have a powerful mind. This made them retain ability to have reason and be like a normal human being even they become undead. But they still lose memories of their past lives.

Because this is only a Fifth Stage Planet, the Forest of Death cannot produce any Sixth Stage Practitioners here. As such, the strongest beings here are the Fifth Grade Undead.

Fang Lin watched carefully as the 30 First Grade Undead ambled towards the brat’s carriage. He then watched as the doors of the second carriage opened and a mercenary guard appeared.

The mercenary guard clenched his fists as it glowed with blinding white light.

“Skree!!” He pointed it to the 30 undead. A light beam erupted from his fists that hit them.

“Fizz....”

The light immediately disintegrated all the undead. It seemed like that mercenary guard has a light-attribute dao or law, seeing the ease the undead were defeated. Well, since they have at least Fourth Stage of strength, just a wave of their hands could have been enough for these undead.

“Show-offs.” Bloodspear muttered at the sidelines. He looked at the skyline as he grimaced. Fang Lin grimaced as he looked outside too.

The sun was starting to set.

Bloodspear put his hands on Fang Lin’s shoulder as he soothingly said,

“I will watch out for you from the outside. I swear, if that.... brat does something inappropriate to you, I will personally get you out of here! I swear that as an oath!” Bloodspear looked apologetically at Mina.

“I am sorry Mina, but I might jeopardize your first job too.”

“It’s.... ok...” Mina said slowly. “That brat..... bad. Teach him... lesson later.”

“Good luck Fang Lin.”

“Drats!” Fang Lin could only curse as he was immobilized by the old man and was brought inside their carriage.

Due to the speed of the old man, Fang Lin were not able to see the details of the insides of the brat’s carriage. Next thing he knew, he was already lying on a metal table. By moving his eyeballs, he managed to get a limited look on the room.

The room was slightly dark, making it hard to see. If Fang Lin will use his qi, he can see clearly in this room. But the old man did not just seal his movements, he also sealed his cultivation.

From the limited vision that Fang Lin could use, he managed to see the silhouettes of evil-looking metallic tools. They were composed of scissors and large needles.

“Grhh....” Fang Lin started to let out growls from his throat as he panicked. He was helpless at this situation now. He just prayed that Bloodspear will be able to rescue him before he gets ‘played’ upon,

Actually, Fang Lin realized that he can still use the bloodline abilities of fusion and transposition. But that was his most guarded secret. If Bloodspear fails to protect him, he will use fusion as a last resort.

His thoughts were cut short as he heard footsteps echoing across the room. With his limited vision range, he managed to discern that the newcomer was the brat. The brat wore loose clothes that covered his whole body. Aside from this, what Fang Lin could see was an excited expression on the brat’s face.

An irritating voice pierced through the terrifying silence.

“Are you now ready for my ‘makeover’?”

“NGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!”
