The Curse of Time (Harry Potter Fanfic)

Norbert

After the match, I went to my room to write down the idea for the new Quidditch rules as requested.

I had to explain the situation and the various changes that would need to be made.

This task took me more than a day to ensure everything was as clear as possible.

I, of course, signed it with my name to give the new rules additional credibility.

Afterward, I headed to the aviary to deliver the document to the designated place where the rules of Quidditch are governed.

We then enjoyed two weeks without any incidents, and it was finally the day to visit Hagrid, who hadn’t left his house except on rare occasions since the beginning of the week.

"Hagrid, are you there?"

"Yes, yes, just a moment."

After waiting a little, he opened the door and let us in.

"Oh, you have a pet! Can I pet it?"

"Yes, you can, but don’t scare him."

I looked at the spot where Marie was about to pet the creature, only to realize it was a dragon.

Without hesitation, I grabbed Marie by the collar and pulled her back. In the place where her fingers had been just seconds before, the dragon’s fangs were now poised.

"How can you not recognize a dragon, Marie?"

"But he looked so cute."

"And also incredibly venomous to humans. I’m not too worried about Hagrid because he’s resistant, but if that dragon had bitten you, you’d need to head straight to the infirMarie."

"I didn’t know. Thank you, Evelyn, you saved my life."

She took this moment to calm me down, and I let her as long as she didn’t overstep her boundaries.

"Now, Hagrid, I’d like to know how you got this dragon, which, as I remind you, is forbidden for anyone to own."

"I won him in a card game. The owner wasn’t exactly unhappy to get rid of him."

"Of course they weren’t. It’s forbidden to possess dragons, and they’re extremely dangerous. Now you’ve inherited someone else’s problem."

"But Norbert wouldn’t hurt a fly."

"He’s a dragon, remember? Even if unintentionally, he could hurt us. In about a month, you won’t have a house left because he’ll destroy it."

"But what can I do? I can’t just leave him out in the wild; he’ll die. He’s just a baby after all."

Hagrid had a sad look in his eyes, but he understood the situation.

"I can see that you’re very fond of him, but you need to let him go before you become responsible for any unintentional harm caused by Norbert."

"If I remember correctly, one of Ron’s brothers studies dragons. You could ask Ron to send a message to his brother and see if they can take him."

"That’s a possibility, but I don’t want to part with him too soon."

"We need to do this before it’s too late. I’d love to help you because you’re kind and different, but there’s nothing I can do in this situation."

I felt bad for not being able to help him, especially when his intentions were good, but the blame for any harm caused by the dragon would fall on Hagrid. Having a dragon and allowing it to hurt someone would only make things worse for him.

I promised myself that I would help him with something else in the future.
