The First King of Beasts

Chapter 100 A Second Trip

Even with his skill activated throughout the entire night, Dustin could sense a single thing. All the monsters really did leave for some clan meeting or something, it was just too weird.

The following day when everyone was up, Dustin led the whole team out of the volcanic region. Throughout the small journey, nothing very eventful happened. There was an attack from a monster, but it was just a D rank monster, and Dustin made quick work of it. After that, two more D rank monsters of the same kind attacked, and the same, Dustin took care of it easily.

After a day of travelling or close to it, Dustin brought the entire team out of the volcanic region safely without any extra casualties. From there they part ways, and Dustin returned back into the volcanic region. He could have used the wyvern, but for whatever reason, and with a little hope that maybe their large numbers would attract a monster or beast, he didn't. In the end nothing happened.

Kane made an effort to invite Dustin to join them back to the city where their guild was situated, but he refused saying that he had unfinished business. After a bit of time, they departed, and Dustin went back into the volcanic region. He did give them some food and water to carry them for sometime before they parted ways.

The moment he entered the volcanic region and was completely inside the covering of black clouds, he summoned the wyvern and took off deeper in, with his taming skill activated.

Dustin was a bit curious why all the monsters and beasts had suddenly gone missing, and the first place he was going to check was deeper inside the volcanic region. Maybe something had attracted the, there, and if that was the case then Dustin was intrigued. If he learnt anything from the games he had played, it was that whenever monsters of a certain start behaving like this, it signified that there was some kind of treasure nearby, or something important that could potentially become a gold mine had appeared.

'If it turns out to be some kind of boss monster that I can't handle, then I'll just turn around and run away, easy.' Dustin thought to himself. If not, then he would just fight all the monster, or find another way to achieve his goal. As for a boss monster, the wyvern is pretty fast, so Victor wasn't worried about anything, at least not as much.

After travelling about 10 kilo metres into the volcanic region, Dustin finally started sensing some monsters as they got within the region of space that he could scout. 'About time.' He said in his mind.

Honestly, he had decided to stick with it until he probably burst out of the other side of the volcanic region, which surprisingly turned out to be very wide spread. Something like this would normally happen within the centre of a region, or close to it, so escaping would require much effort if it turns out to be a boss monster that fast.

"Whatever, it's worth the risk." Dustin says in his mind as they continue onward.

.

As Dustin went further and further, he noticed a region in front that had cloud-like covering over a large portion of the land. While he was looking at this a curiously, he suddenly felt something getting closer to them, he and his wyvern, and before his wyvern could dodge perfectly, it was hit.

Dustin immediately turned off his taming skill for the moment as the information he gets from it would cloud his judgment and make him slower if he needed to fight, which it seemed like he would need to.

When he took a look at the monster that just attacked them, he saw that they were three, and they all had spike like formations on their backs in the form of scales. The one closest to them had lost some of those scales, signifying that he was the attacker, and from it Dustin could deduce that the scales did not regenerate, at least not immediately. 'Good news then.'

When Dustin checked what kind of monsters the draconic creatures were, he got the information from his system, and the most important thing was that these were B rank creatures. Seeing this, Dustin couldn't help but be revealed. If he had to battle another A rank or pseudo S rank creature, it would be a big hassle, and difficult, not to talk of four of them at once.

Activating his taming skill and taking out his sword, Dustin just took in a little deep breath and then breathed out before jumping towards the first draconic creature that immediately responded by shooting the spikes while manoeuvring in a way as to not allow Dustin land on it, and at the same time the wyvern also disappeared.

.

.

After some more minutes, and they must have travelled deeper by 2 more kilo metres, Dustin finally caught sight of something in front. He had taken care of the monsters relatively easily, and ever since then no other attack came, so he just travelled safely and unbothered.

If he was on land, from afar he would describe the place he was looking at as the edge of the world if the world was flat, as it certainly seemed so.

"That's either a potential trap, or a potential trap, no matter how I look at it." Dustin said to himself as he looked at it. Because of the sight before them, he and his wyvern, a couple hundred metres away, Dustin had ordered the wyvern to fly slower now. He hadn't noticed it from afar because of the cloudy mist covering the place, but now it was clear.

The landscape looked like, plainly, the end of the world, like that was where the land ended and from there it just went straight down over the cliff. Basically, if one was to reach the end of a the map in a game like minecraft, they would understand the picture. The only difference was that that was a game, and this was real life.

The monsters that approached the side of the cliff just flew downward into the sea of clouds and disappeared into it. Dustin wasn't quite convinced, so he waited to see what the other flightless monsters would do, and to his surprise, without any hesitation they all just ran off the cliff. Seeing this, Dustin wasn't sure if these animals had been controlled to have such a suicidal mind, or there was actually a way to land softly, somehow.

'Well, we'll have to find out then.'
