The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 454: Lies

454 Lies

"Brother Mo..." For a long time, Mia Chen stared at Morris Liu and his usual cold front. Nothing changed in his expression yet, she felt his words.

It struck her heart that triggered her eyes to permit the tears she had been suppressing while hearing Lexi's advice about love.

Did she really fail? But her intention was pure... for him. She just wanted him to be happy as she could not bear to think about his usual long nights, alone. No matter how eager she was to fill the void in his heart, Mia Chen knew she could not as the only person who could was Lexi.

"I shouldn't have dragged you in it before because, in the end, I destroyed you as well." Not breaking his gaze away from her, Morris Liu uttered.

For some reason, Morris Liu felt that Mia Chen also deserved an apology. Although her participation in their fake relationship was a mutual agreement, still he needed to say sorry.

Perhaps he carried bad luck to people that lead them to their brink of self-destruction. Regardless, Morris Liu knew deep down that Mia Chen also deserved a sincere apology from him.

However, that doesn't mean he would let this matter slip. After all, the consequences of her plan would be dire if they didn't prepare for it. Not to mention, she used Kevin Woo, who only sees the good in her.

"No... no..." Mia Chen profusely shook her head to the side as she mustered her strength to stand up. As she does so, Nico Zhuang was about to place her back to where she should be.

Alas, he stopped as Lexi slightly raised her hand, before she shook her head as a gesture to let her be. Thus, Nico Zhuang could only retrieve his foot back and let Mia Chen desperately made her way to Morris Liu.

"Brother Mo, you don't have to apologize. No, I did it because I want you to be happy so you don't have to be sad anymore." Mia Chen held tightly on Morris Liu's suit, creasing it as she looked at him and uttered her words in desperation and reassurance. She forced a smile on her lips as she continued.

"I know you understand that I am only doing this for you. But, you don't have to apologize to me!"

"Why…" Staring at the delusional and helpless eyes looking up at him, Morris Liu creased his brows as he coldly muttered.

"Don't worry, brother Mo. Whatever happens to me, the news about you and Lexi was already out in the public! She—" As Mia Chen entered her delusional state, she brightly smiled as that fact couldn't be undone even if they caught her.

However, just as she turned and pointed her finger at Lexi, the rest of her words were stuck in her throat as she saw two new figures at the entrance of the room. There, stood Ethan Lu and Kevin Woo. Ethan Lu was nonchalant at the words that welcomed him, but Kevin Woo, he was too overwhelmed that his face went pale.

"Why did you have to drag Kevin in it as well? Of all people, you know being dragged into someone else's problem will not lead to any good, so, why did you have to drag him in as well?" Continuing what he wanted to ask, Morris Liu glanced at Kevin Woo's conflicted front before he shifted his gaze to Ethan Lu who just gave him a brow raised as a greeting.

"Brother Kevin, what are you doing here? I thought you and—" Shocked at Kevin Woo's sudden appearance, Mia Chen murmured. Alas, when she was about to mention Ethan Lu's name, she felt a strong force wrapped around her neck as Ethan Lu glanced at her.

Although Ethan Lu said nothing, Mia Chen sensed his silent threat of not calling his name using her disgusting mouth. How could he do this? Right, she was a former mercenary that had tons of life and death experience. Hence, her subconscious mind could easily detect a person's level of threat and Ethan Lu's was way higher than Nico Zhuang.

No wonder she automatically shut her mouth.

"I thought so too until hours ago." After swallowing a mouthful of saliva, Kevin Woo balled his hands into a fist as his shoulder trembled. However, he maintained a calm voice as he responded.

"Mia, have you been lying to me all this time?" Through his gritted teeth, Kevin Woo asked. "From the time you held your hand out to support me, or all those times I thought I made you happy and satisfied, were all those lies? They are, right?" Recalling the start of how he totally pursued his current career with Mia Chen on his side, Kevin Woo asked and also answered them in a bitter tone.

"That aside, even before I believed there was us, during the time I didn't know that your relationship with brother Mo was a big lie as well, should I assume that your kindness back then was also fake?" No one aside from Kevin Woo spoke the moment he came. They respected that the person who was truly hurt by all this was him and not Mia Chen.

Mia Chen bit her lower lips as she turned to look at Morris Liu's icy pair of orbs before she returned them to the most genuine eyes that bore nothing but pain staring back at her. Hence, for some reason, all she could do was hang her head low.
