The Third-Gen Chaebol Becomes a Genius Actor

Chapter 112: What did you investigate?

Chapter 112 <What did you investigate?>

Yoo Yeon Seo, covered in blood, was rushed into the emergency room.

It was late at night, and there weren’t many people around.

Lim Seunghyun and Yoo Eunho quickly followed behind him.

A quick-witted nurse swiftly drew the curtain to block the view of others.

“What the hell…”

A doctor ran over as soon as he saw the arrival of the VVIPs. They busily treated him and then wheeled him to bed away for further examination. As things calmed down for a moment, Yoo Eunho felt his strength drain from his body.

(Kim, the secretary) Director, you need to see this.

His secretary had sent him a link with the title ‘Witness account of Yoo Yeon Seo’s secretary’. How did this get filmed in the meantime?

“Tsk.”

His brother’s admission had already been reported to the hospital director. That meant it was inevitable that their grandfather would hear about it. But it would be troublesome if this photo got out.

“What’s going on?”

“A photo has surfaced.”

Lim Seunghyun’s expression hardened as he looked at the screen. Just then, Itaegyeom also texted him that he had seen the photo and asked where he was.

“Someone recognized me.”

He hadn’t expected this. Lim Seunghyun sighed.

Yoo Eunho pressed his eyes tiredly. There was nothing he could do about what had already happened.

“Let’s keep it a secret from the other family members that Yeon Seo vomited blood like that.”

“······I’ll go and silence them.”

“Go ahead. Oh, Mr. Lim.”

“Yes?”

“Thank you.”

He had acted swiftly when he was flustered and prevented it from escalating.

“I was just doing my job.”

Lim Seunghyun nodded briefly and left the curtain. Yoo Eunho turned around and went to do his own work.

“Are you the attending physician?”

“Yes, Director.”

The doctor assigned as the attending physician was sweating profusely as he watched Yoo Eunho’s mood.

“If any other family members come, just make up something plausible, like post-traumatic stress or overwork.”

“What? But…”

“I’ll take responsibility, so just do as I say.”

The doctor rolled his eyes nervously. He hadn’t become Yoo Yeon Seo’s attending physician by choice, but by being pushed into it. It was a lot of pressure to take care of the owner’s family.

Especially since he had witnessed how much of a fuss Yoo Chairman had made when Yoo Yeon Seo was hospitalized for a car accident. He was even more careful.

Seeing the doctor hesitate, Yoo Eunho crossed his arms and stood defiantly.

“How old are you?”

“What? Ah… I’m forty this year.”

“You’re still young.”

There was a lot of meaning behind his casual answer. Who would you see more often as a doctor at Juseong Seoul Hospital? Yoo Chairman or me?

“······I understand.”

The doctor understood his words and turned his head to avoid Yoo Eunho’s sharp gaze.

“Then, I’ll leave it to you.”

“Yes, Director.”

The attending physician was taken care of, and luckily the camera quality was poor enough that it was hard to tell if it was blood or not. He thought he could get away with it by passing it off as a nosebleed.

‘I remembered…’

And he had to keep it a secret from the other family members that his brother had regained his memory.

If Yoo Yeon Seo had seen the culprit, and if the person who ordered the crime was one of their close relatives, then all the more so.

He closed his eyes and immersed himself in his thoughts for a moment, when someone opened the door of the emergency room and ran in urgently.

“Are you here?”

“Yes, is it serious, hyung? Don’t tell me it happened again…”

“Shh.”

Again? Yoo Eunho stopped in his tracks.

Come to think of it, Lim Seunghyun had been strangely calm even though Yoo Yeon Seo had vomited so much blood. Even the manager seemed to have heard the news for the first time… Could it be that those two already knew? Is that why they told him to watch?

“I brought what you asked for. Let’s clean the blood stains off your body first.”

“Okay.”

“And…”

“Should I erase everything at home?”

“Yeah. Go ahead.”

He remembered the gruesome scene at home and Itaegyeom looked like he had a lot of questions. But he did everything Lim Seunghyun told him to do without a word and left quickly.

‘They’re too familiar with this…’

His brother must have firmly told them not to tell anyone else. Lim Seunghyun and Itaegyeom couldn’t have disobeyed him.

Yoo Eunho didn’t have the time to care about whether those two knew beforehand or not.

[Because of me.]

[Mom, please save me.]

He felt dizzy with anxiety, wondering what memory he had recalled that made her say those things.

“Eunho!”

“Are you here?”

Yoo Gun-min and Choi Yoo-jin rushed to the emergency room as soon as they arrived.

“What happened? How could he collapse like that?”

“I’ll explain.”

The doctor nodded slightly at Yoo Eun-ho, who was looking at his brother. Yoo Yeon Seo was taken to the VIP room for now. Yoo Eun-ho sighed and looked at the text on his phone screen.

“Yes, Grandpa.”

(Yeon Seo went to the emergency room. What’s going on?)

“It’s nothing serious. It’s probably a side effect of the car accident…”

Yoo Eun-ho lied to his grandfather, trying to sound calm.

‘What if he doesn’t wake up soon…’

As he feared, Yoo Yeon Seo didn’t open his eyes for several days. The doctor said it was a combination of the car accident and overwork, and tried to reassure the family. The test results were clean, so the family didn’t question it much.

‘But that’s the problem…’

He wondered if there was a new disease that the test didn’t detect. Yoo Eun-ho hid his anxiety and looked at the bodyguards in front of the room.

“Go and have something to eat.”

“Yes, sir. We’ll leave some people here.”

“It’s fine. Go together.”

They were more of a hindrance than a help. He watched the bodyguards get on the elevator and opened the door to the room.

“Yeon Seo…!”

The bed was empty, and the room was a mess. When he ran in, he heard the sound of water dripping from the bathroom.

“What the hell.”

Yoo Yeon Seo was bleeding from his nose and his hand, which was cut by a piece of mirror. He glared at his brother with a crooked look.

“Damn it…”

He looked so weak. He lost consciousness again after saying that. Yoo Eun-ho barely caught him before he hit the floor and pressed the emergency button.

***

“Well, it was a bad accident, right? It was a miracle that he woke up.”

“He went straight to filming an action movie after he was discharged. Geez, I thought he was fine because of that…”

“He should rest for a while.”

Yoo Eun-ho nodded slightly at the relatives who gathered after a long time.

“I’ll stay here for now.”

“Can you handle it alone, Eun-ho?”

“You’re all busy. I just need some people… And I’ve finished all the urgent work, so I’m fine.”

He didn’t expect them to be so worried about his nephew. They were too busy to keep visiting him.

“Hyung, I have a lot of time.”

“You go too. Aunt, please take him with you.”

Park Seon-woo, who had a unibrow, was dragged away by Yoo Seon-young.

“Father. Mother.”

“Hmm?”

“You should go too.”

“Sigh… Are you sure you’re okay?”

“I’m fine. I’ll call you.”

Yoo Gun-min and Choi Yoo-jin reluctantly left the hospital. The troublemakers were gone. Yoo Eun-ho entered Yoo Yeon Seo’s room and smiled awkwardly. His brother was under the blanket, not responding.

He sat on the edge of the bed and spoke softly.

“How’s your hand?”

“…”

“I have something to say.”

Yoo Yeon Seo lifted the blanket slightly to show his eyes. His frown showed that he didn’t want to talk to him.

“…Say it.”

“You came to me and said that Mom’s suicide wasn’t true, right?”

“Yeah.”

“To be honest, I didn’t believe you.”

What, are you picking a fight? Yoo Yeon Seo threw off the blanket and sat up. Yoo Eun-ho grabbed his dizzy brother and pressed the button to raise the back of the bed.

“So?”

“But I didn’t give up completely.”

Yoo Yeon Seo’s crumpled expression gradually returned to normal.

“I was curious about what you said, so I investigated it secretly, without the other family members knowing.”

“When?”

“Not long ago. I did it quietly with a friend.”

“Why a friend?”

“He’s a detective.”

A detective… Well, it would be easier to investigate a case if you had a contact in that field.

“Let’s meet up after you get discharged. You need to rest first.”

Yoo Yeon Seo nodded. He was exhausted from pushing his memory synchronization and automatic mode to the limit. Yoo Eun-ho ruffled his younger brother’s hair roughly.

“Sorry. I didn’t trust you.”

“…Forget it. Don’t treat me like a kid.”

Yoo Yeon Seo slapped his hand away and turned his head.

***

“Are you and my brother classmates? Just talk comfortably. I’ll do the same.”

His tone was slightly defiant. Baek Seo-joon glanced at Yoo Eun-ho. Hey, you said he was nice.

Yoo Eun-ho shrugged off his gaze. Why, he’s nice to me.

“Okay, bro. Let’s get to the point.”

“Yes, sure. Bro.”

Baek Seo-joon sighed and hesitated how to say it.

The three of them gathered at Yoo Eun-ho’s house in case someone took a picture of them.

“Why did you think he didn’t commit suicide?”

“Because I saw that bastard.”

“What?”

Baek Seo-joon flinched at the blunt remark. Yoo Eun-ho was the same.

“You saw the culprit?”

“Wait, Yeon Seo. Are you okay to talk?”

Yoo Eun-ho raised his hand to stop him, worried that he might have a seizure again like when he recalled that memory.

“Why, we’re talking about something important.”

Baek Seo-joon was frustrated because he didn’t know the situation.

“What can’t you say?”

Yoo Yeon Seo leaned his head back on the sofa and closed his eyes. He looked unusually tired. Baek Seo-joon opened his mouth with a troubled expression.

“So when was that…? Six years old?”

“Seven years old.”

Baek Seo-joon trailed off as he glanced at Yoo Eun-ho.

“Are you… sure it’s not a mistake? You were so young…”

“He has a good memory.”

“Like you?”

Yoo Eun-ho nodded. Baek Seo-joon changed his attitude. Then the story would be different.

“So? What did you do to suspect him as the culprit?”

“I…”

Yoo Yeon Seo, who was fiddling with his nails, let out a big breath and continued. It seemed hard for him to talk about that incident. Yoo Eun-ho looked at his brother with anxious eyes.

“I brought that person to mom.”

“What?”

“Wait, Yoo Eun-ho. I know how you feel, but don’t interrupt for now.”

Baek Seo-joon blocked Yoo Eun-ho, who stood up in surprise, with his arm. Yoo Yeon Seo waved his hand to signal that he was fine.

“Keep talking.”

“I think that person disguised himself as a bodyguard and came in.”

“How did you guess that?”

“His face was different from the bodyguard who was there before.”

“Are you sure you’ve never seen him before?”

“Park Yong-ho, Choi Sang-young, Lee Seok-woo, Go Jong-su…”

Yoo Yeon Seo recited the names of all the guards who were on duty at the mansion that day, looking straight at Baek Seo-jun.

“Do you want me to say more? I can even describe how they looked.”

“No, that’s enough.”

Baek Seo-jun stroked his chin and fell into thought. Yoo Eun-ho, who had calmed his mind, asked him casually.

“What do you think?”

“There’s a possibility. The case was concluded as a suicide, so there was no reason for the guards to change.”

After a brief silence, Baek Seo-jun asked again.

“Was there anything else?”

“He said he came as a substitute for one of the original guards, but he didn’t say who he was replacing. He looked very… uncomfortable.”

“And then?”

Yoo Yeon Seo clenched his teeth. The sound of his teeth grinding against each other was clearly audible.

“That bastard, he called me his son. It made me sick…”

“…”

“I feel like he’s a stalker who followed my mom around.”

He had said the main point. It was hard to tell the story of what happened then, as if he saw a phantom in front of his eyes. Yoo Yeon Seo tilted his head back.

“So, what did you guys find out?”
