The Villains I Taught Became Heroes

Chapter 21

Event-3

Ding dong!

Harvest Festival?

Is that the festival happening in a few days at the lord’s territory?

And you want to be my partner for that?

I was confused, and looking at Sowol, she seemed just as bewildered.

“A few days ago, I received a quest from the lord. He asked us to patrol to ensure that the citizens can enjoy the festival safely.”

“Oh. Really?”

There was something similar in the game too.

If you do these things properly, rewards can be pretty sweet, so why not?

“Yes. So, we warriors decided to move as one. I hope you can be my partner for that, Master.”

“Hmm. Well, if that’s the case, it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Since I was planning to let Sowol take it easy during the festival anyway.

I don’t really have anything important to do, so a little patrolling wouldn’t hurt.

“But can I munch on snacks while patrolling?”

“Haha… It might be hard for others, but for you, Master, it should be okay.”

Alright. Let’s go with that.

Having finished her words, Railla took Sowol’s luggage and headed inside.

“Are you going to be okay?”

“What’s wrong?”

“You’ll have to handle the training during the harvest festival too. Are you sure you can do the patrolling as well?”

“I’m thinking of taking a break during the festival. You should enjoy it too.”

“Isn’t that too much resting? You just rested last time too.”

“Don’t worry. I’m planning to teach the Moonlight Sword Technique before the harvest festival.”

“Huh? Already?”

It seemed she was surprised that I would teach the technique so soon after receiving it.

With her eyes wide open, Sowol stared at me, so I gently pinched her little nose.

“Wasn’t I busy preparing your medicinal potion for that?”

Once she’s had enough of the medicine, she’ll be ready for the instruction, so there’s nothing to worry about.

After sending Sowol back to her room, I returned to my quarters to find Serin getting ready to leave.

“Here. Holy Water.”

“Ohhh!”

Now all the materials are gathered.

While I was admiring the real holy water radiating a gentle holy power, Serin packed her belongings.

Seems like she was about to leave.

Thinking to see her off since she had a long way to go, I followed her out.

“I wonder when we’ll meet again?”

“Hmm… I don’t know.”

I guess it’ll be during the religious war event while progressing through the main story.

That event is a must-do if I want to achieve the true ending, after all.

“By the way, it might be wise to be cautious.”

Seems like she found something while investigating during her stay here.

Serin handed me a document she took from her bag.

Looking it over, it contained information that the Heretics were after Sowol.

“Recently, the financial situation of the Heretics hasn’t been good. So there’s a high possibility they might touch the Eastern Trading Company, which has gained a lot from trade with the east.”

So they’re planning to overthrow the leader of the Eastern Trading Company and brainwash Sowol, the next leader, to use the assets of the company.

It’s flowing just like I expected.

Of course, I have no intention of letting that happen.

“Then shouldn’t the church take care of this?”

“That’s why I’m leaving half of the Paladins behind. Plus, having you here is a good reassurance.”

Serin was right; with the strong power of the Paladins combined with me, we could prevent the assassination of Sowol.

But it’s not like I can always be by Sowol’s side, so it’s a bit concerning to rely solely on that.

“I’m thinking of joining forces with other church personnel to take down the Heretics around here. The secret seal you gave me indicates a gathering place for the Heretics, so we need to sweep that out first.”

A pretty face broke into a cold smile.

Sure. If you’re going to catch Heretics, give it your all.

“Is there anything I can help with?”

“Nope. Just come join the big fight later.”

That big fight would be the religious war… I guess I’ll have to participate for sure. I patted Serin’s shoulder in reply.

“Well, I’m off.”

She waved her hand lightly in farewell as she left with the Paladins.

Watching her disappear, I stuffed my hands into my pockets and returned to my quarters.

“Okay, let’s get to my own work…”

Having gathered materials through efforts, it was time to start making the medicinal potion for Sowol.

As for preparations, there wasn’t much to do. With all the materials gathered, all I needed was to synthesize them with my alchemy skill.

I laid the collected materials on the table.

Serin’s holy water, a healer’s essence, and various other materials. As I began placing them one by one on the table, it quickly filled up.

Looking down at it, I raised both hands, and a magic circle began to draw itself above.

“Synthesis.”

Gentle streams of light started to scatter from the magic circle.

As they touched the materials, one by one, they began to disappear and when all the materials had vanished, a large vial appeared on top of the magic circle.

This is the medicinal potion for Sowol.

Moonlight Essence.

If taken consistently for ten days, it boosts stamina, mana, and strength, and is essential for using the Moonlight Sword Technique, Moonlight Slash.

I picked it up and headed straight for Sowol’s room.

At the moment I was about to knock on the door I’m now used to, a voice came from inside.

“Hahaha~! Shouldn’t I confirm it? Who else will?”

“Why… do you have to do that? Ugh… do you really have to go that far?”

“Don’t worry too much. I won’t get involved. Do you think I would fight with missy?”

“… That’s not the reason for this!!”

A cheerful voice and a voice filled with confusion were mingling. Are they fighting over something?

Curious, I knocked on the door.

“It’s me. Can I come in for a second?”

“Kyaaaah! Master?!”

“Uh, when did you arrive?! I’ll open the door right away! Oops!!”

Thud!

What’s that noise about? It sounds like they fell over inside. With the groaning sounds coming from within, I hesitated to open the door.

“Ughhh… Ow… Welcome, Master.”

The door opened to reveal a messy Railla. Sneaking a glance inside, I could see a fallen chair.

“Oh, hahaha…”

Railla, who seemed awkwardly laughing as if she had created that situation, had her black bobbed hair a bit tangled, so I helped straighten it out.

She flinched when my hand touched her, but she didn’t particularly seem to mind and stayed quiet.

“Ah… th-thank you.”

“Did you fall? It looks like your knee is scraped.”

There was a fresh wound on Railla’s white knee that looked like it had just been made. If I leave it, it will turn into a scar.

I can’t just ignore it; I’ve got to heal it.

“Hey?! What are you doing?!”

“Just stay still. Ouch, that must hurt. What were you in such a rush for that you fell like this?”

“Ugh. Well…”

I placed my hand on Railla’s knee.

The startled girl tried to pull away, but I held her in place firmly.

“Heal.”

And I cast the recovery magic.

A gentle light swirled from my hand, healing Railla’s injury.

In an instant, the wound healed, and Railla was staring at her long, smooth leg in disbelief.

“Uhh… umm?!”

“Missy, what’s wrong?”

“My… my body feels strong…”

“This is something you can’t buy even with money, so make sure you take it regularly.”

“Is it really that precious?”

“Indeed.”

Considering how expensive the ingredients for Moonlight Essence are…

That’s were my entire salary went, plus I used rare herbs I gathered during the preparation work.

“You wouldn’t eat something this precious… without me.”

“No matter how precious it is, it can’t compare to you. So stop with those unnecessary thoughts and take it every day.”

Was she touched? Sowol’s eyes were a bit moist.

After giving her a gentle pat on the head, I looked at Railla.

“Do you think I’m capable enough to be a partner during the harvest festival?”

Honestly, thinking about what I can do or what I can offer, this situation could be considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Railla.

But just a partner request?

“Yes! That works!”

“Wow, you really don’t have high aspirations, do you? Alright. Let’s go with that then.”

If she says she doesn’t want it, what can I do?
