The Witcher: Wolf School’s Hunting Notes

67. The Path to Destruction.

"Boom~"

After the red banner disappeared before his eyes, the witcher apprentice only heard a loud roar from above the water, as if the sky was falling. Following that, he saw the silt at the bottom of Drowner Lake being stirred up, instantly muddying the blue glow.

Countless undercurrents surged at the bottom of the lake, but the witcher apprentice felt nothing. It wasn't until moments later that the undercurrents reached the shallow layers of the lake, that he saw huge waves.

The witcher apprentice was like a lone boat on the sea, rolling with the waves, rising and falling. But the tremor had been greatly weakened after passing through the water. When the witcher apprentice was lifted to the surface by the undercurrent, he saw stones rolling down the cliff from the cave in the distance.

On the flat ground to the left of the cave, trees swayed wildly, and branches and leaves flew. The Cyclops, even closer, was also panicked and helpless due to the sudden tremor. Hugging his head with both hands, he curled up on the ground, shivering. The tremor gradually subsided after two or three minutes.

[Ding! Celestial Conjunction - Drowner completed!]

The witcher apprentice heard the prompt, moved his hands and feet, stabilized his body, and then stuck his head out of the water. He wanted to see what Celestial Conjunction looked like.

Would the exquisite door really appear?

"Huh?"

"Why is there nothing?"

Looking in the direction of the cave, Allen was somewhat incredulous.

Yes, the Old Speartip's home—the cave—was the place he chose for the Celestial Conjunction to occur. But there was not only no portal, there wasn't even the anticipated Drowner King.

"Wait!"

"There's something there!"

Allen squinted his eyes, focusing carefully. Several blue-skinned creatures were lying in front of the cave.

They seemed to be... drowners?

The witcher's face immediately darkened. Although summoning drowners after the Celestial Conjunction in the world of drowners was indeed normal.

But if that were the case, how could he hunt the Cyclops?

The Kaer Morhen defense battle could happen at any time; he needed to improve his strength as quickly as possible, and hunting large monsters was the fastest way. Although there were many large monsters in this world, none were as easy to find and suitable for a novice to hunt as the Old Speartip. Besides, Allen could only kill the Old Speartip during the mountain trial.

After passing the trial, if the witcher apprentice wanted to hunt the Cyclops again, he wouldn't find a suitable excuse. Just as the witcher apprentice was frowning in thought, there was change in the direction of the cave.

"Gwaa!"

A familiar roar suddenly sounded, and Allen's eyes lit up. Following the sound, a blue-skinned, muscular creature was slowly being squeezed out of a black vortex.

It was the Drowner King!

The vortex was almost identical to the one in the monster compendium, stuck at the Drowner King's waist, slowly "spitting" the creature out.

"Hmm~"

Looking at the portal that was almost embedded in the flesh, Allen instinctively touched his abdomen, sucking in a breath of cold air in empathy. So this is how the Celestial Conjunction summons monsters. No wonder the last Drowner King barely moved a step. It wasn't because the sorcerer didn't want to move; it was because he had a back injury and couldn't move.

"Roar!"

A furious roar suddenly came from Allen's left. The witcher instinctively ducked underwater, leaving only his nose above the water, and turned his head to follow the sound.

The Old Speartip had somehow already stood up from the ground. Seeing his home invaded, he vented his rage by smashing the oak tree in his hand into the ground.

Bang! Crack—

The thick trunk instantly broke under the immense force. After discarding the broken oak, the Old Speartip didn't rush over immediately. Instead, after looking around, he ran over to an unknown tree species several times thicker than the previous oak in just a few steps.

Grabbing the tree crown with both hands, he uprooted the entire tree. After skillfully stripping the branches, the Old Speartip nodded in satisfaction, seemingly pleased with the shape of the tree in his hands.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The ground rumbled, and the familiar tremors passed from the lake shore.

"That's right, that's how it should be. He's invading your home; go get him!"

Allen watched the massive figure excitedly, waving the thick tree as he charged towards the cave.

At this moment, The Drowner King had just been fully squeezed out of the portal. But the witcher apprentice wasn't worried that the Old Speartip would kill the Drowner King, who was still adapting to the Celestial Conjunction, with one swing. After all, from the incomplete identification attributes and the magical aura around him, Allen could sense that, the Drowner King was stronger than the Old Speartip. And not just a little stronger but much stronger.

"Splash~"

Allen slowly swam towards the place where Hughes and the others had previously hidden. The Old Speartip seemed to have completely forgotten about him, his bloodshot giant eye, larger than Allen's head, glaring at the blue creature hovering at his doorstep, seemingly only wanting to rush over and smash the Drowner King with a stick.

Closer, closer.

The distance between the two monsters was only twenty to thirty meters.

At this moment, the witcher apprentice also swam behind the cliff wall to the right of the cave, watching the imminent physical confrontation between the two massive monsters with excitement. Even more exciting was the prospect that both monsters might soon become his experience, attributes, items, and formulas.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The loud footsteps were like the sound of war drums. The Old Speartip, swinging the six-to-seven-meter-long tree trunk almost as tall as he was, approached the Drowner King and swung down forcefully.

"Whoosh!"

The sound of the giant tree cutting through the air was clear even from a distance.

Bang!

With a loud crash, the red fin on the Drowner King's head was instantly broken, along with the smooth blue scalp that rippled like the surface of the lake. Kneeling on one knee, the Drowner King, with a pained expression, was smashed awake instantly. His red eyes bulged as if they were about to pop out.

"Gwaa!"

Under the painful roar, a layer of blue light film appeared on the Drowner King's body.

The Old Speartip didn't care what changes were happening to the Drowner King, continuing his frenzied attack, "Bang! Bang! Bang!" repeatedly smashing down. The witcher apprentice saw that the blue light film on the Drowner King's body didn't last long, shattering instantly.

"Hmm~"

Allen sucked in a breath of cold air. He knew the Old Speartip's rage was truly overwhelming. It made sense. During his hibernation, his food suddenly vanished inexplicably. Finally, a little thing in clothes came to relieve his hunger, but it was more agile than a drowner. And now, his home was being invaded…

"Tsk, tsk~"

Even Allen, a witcher apprentice who made a living hunting monsters, felt a bit sorry for the Old Speartip. Of course, this thought only flashed through his mind. This Cyclops had long been on a path to destruction. Many witcher apprentices had died at the hands of the Cyclops; if it wasn't eliminated, more innocent children would die in the future.

With this thought, Allen focused on the raging Cyclops and the beaten but unyielding Drowner King, and activated his skill.
