The Witcher: Wolf School’s Hunting Notes

82. How to Handle the Corpses?

"All... Allen? Who is Allen?"

Everyone turned their heads in unison to look at the speaking witcher, as if they were seeing some relic from a bygone era. The synchronized movement scared away most of the "relic's" drunkenness. He weakly asked, "Wha... what is it? Is Allen very famous?"

No sooner had he spoken than a resident witcher of Kaer Morhen began to enlighten him on the "common knowledge" of the ancient sea fortress: titles like "The Red Fox Witcher Apprentice," "Drowner Slayer of the Ancient Sea Fortress," "Slayer of the Drowner King," and "Witcher Master-to-be."

"Wait!"

"Allen is still a witcher apprentice?"

The "relic" grasped the key point, asking incredulously.

The white-haired witcher master smiled and said, "Allen passed the Trial of the Grasses today; he is now an official witcher of the Wolf School."

"What? So he really did all these things as an apprentice?"

The "relic" exclaimed uncontrollably.

"To be precise, he did all these things within a month..."

The resident witcher of Kaer Morhen paused, glanced at the chief, then at the abruptly placed monster corpse in the hall, and remarked, "And it seems he has done something even more remarkable."

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone saw the chief nod, acknowledging his words. Silence once again descended upon the castle hall. Even the witchers familiar with Allen couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and frustration at this moment.

"Wait!"

"So, this apprentice named Allen, just after passing the trial, is about to become a witcher master?"

Once again, the "relic" grasped the key point.

This time, the chief didn't immediately nod in agreement but looked at the other witcher masters. Seeing no objections from them, he nodded again, confirming, "Yes, within these few days, we will confer upon Allen the title of witcher master and send formal notification letters to other schools."

"Wow~"

After a moment of silence, the main hall of the castle suddenly erupted like boiling water.

"When did the youngest current witcher master receive the title?"

"If we don't count the period of the witcher order, it was Vesemir, I remember he was in his forties when he got the title of master..."

"Oh my! This record already seemed unattainable, and now this witcher named Allen, is he a divine child as the ignorant masses claim?"

------------

The exclamations of the crowd rose one after another, while the witcher masters merely smiled slightly, sitting composedly as if they were fishing. They had already experienced their shock on the way back.

"Could it be just luck? Or some other reason? After all, during the Trial of the Grasses, there was no witcher following him all the time..."

"Boom~ Boom~"

A burly man with a black beard carried two huge heads into the room. The frozen, stiff monster heads made a loud noise as they were placed on the ground, interrupting the witcher's doubts.

"The chief and I have both examined them. The black scorch marks on the necks were made by a silver sword, and the marks are exactly the same as those made by Vesemir's sword, Elsa."

The chief also spoke up, "A few days ago, Vesemir and Allen hunted an Drowner King together, and the marks on these heads are identical."

Pausing for a moment, he continued to explain, "Allen possesses the Eye of the Witcher. The cuts made during his monster hunts are very distinctive—smooth, clean cuts with neat edges, which cannot be faked."

With the chief and a witcher master vouching for it, everyone accepted Allen's hunting achievements. The witcher who raised the doubt was about to say something more.

Seeing this, the black-bearded witcher master glared at the witcher's shrinking eyes and said, "If anyone still doubts, they can wait until Allen returns and compare the sword marks themselves."

"As for whether it was just luck, do I still need to teach you this, Sally?"

"Without real skill, even if you had my silver sword, you wouldn't be able to cut off the head of an Old Speartip."

"Moreover, fortune's favor is the greatest weapon of a witcher."

"If you happen to find a griffin that crashes dead by the roadside, I'll apply for the title of witcher master for you as well."

The black-bearded witcher master's tone grew more severe because the one who questioned was his former traveling apprentice. He knew what kind of person he was.

Cowardly and jealous.

The scum of the Wolf School. If he remembered correctly, Sally hadn't taken on a contract for five years. Sally shrank his head at these words and fell silent.

At this moment.

"Clang~"

An orange portal appeared beside the pile of flesh.

Boom~ Boom~ Boom~

Under everyone's gaze, five figures emerged one after another from the portal, but their reactions varied. The most pitiful were Hughes, Bond, and Fred. As soon as they exited the portal, they fell to the ground, clutching their stomachs, retching incessantly.

Most of the witchers present felt a sympathetic pain in their own abdomens upon seeing this scene.

Allen and Letho, after multiple passages through the portal, seemed to have found some tricks. They were only slightly pale and somewhat weak in the legs.

Vesemir maintained the dignity of a witcher master, stepping slowly out of the portal. Only his slightly greenish complexion indicated he wasn't coping easily either.

Tap~ Tap~ Tap~

The sorceress stepped gracefully out of the light door, calm and composed.

"Snap"

With a snap of her fingers, the portal closed, and a bottle of potion, green as fresh grass and finely crafted like jade, appeared in her hand. Allen took the potion skillfully and drank it down in one gulp. His complexion immediately turned rosy.

"Thank you, Lady Vera."

The sorceress nodded slightly, ignoring Letho's expectant face. She glanced at the retching Hughes, Bond, and Fred on the ground. After a moment's thought, she conjured three more bottles of green potion and handed them to them.

Hughes and the others instinctively looked at Allen. Seeing him nod, they swallowed the potion in one gulp.

"Wow!"

Almost instantly after drinking the potion, Hughes touched his stomach in surprise. A warm current rose from his stomach, but it wasn't painful. Moments later, the warmth spread throughout his body, not only dispelling the dizziness and nausea from the portal but also making him feel lighter all over.

It felt like being reborn.

Bond and Fred were also shocked, touching their skin and muscles.

"Quickly thank Lady Vera!" Vesemir reminded.

Hughes and the others came to their senses, thanking her profusely, "Thank you, Lady Vera!"

The sorceress smiled and nodded. Her gentle expression and exquisite appearance left the witchers present staring.

"Ahem~"

A deep cough interrupted their daydreams, and the sorceress retracted her smile.

The chief of the Wolf School cleared his throat and said, "Allen, how do you plan to handle the corpses of the Drowner King and Old Speartip?"

The many witchers present turned their gaze to Allen upon hearing this.
