Chapter 275 - 275: Can You Not Be So Adorable

Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Can You Not Be So Adorable
Hearing the siren, Luo Ziling glanced at Lin Lan, who was seated opposite him, devouring her food with gusto.

This woman was eating the soup dumplings with none of the restraint and elegance of a lady, wolfing them down even faster than him.

He savored the taste of the soup in each dumpling as he ate them one at a time, but she was wolfing down two at a time.

In just two minutes, she had demolished a steamer of soup dumplings.

Seeing that two steamers of dumplings were far from enough for the two of them, Luo Ziling called the owner to bring two more steamers over.

The snack shop owner had witnessed the whole process—the man and woman fighting and the woman driving a Hummer ramming into a Toyota Camry—and felt an instinctive fear of these two, who didn’t flee after the collision and the altercation but instead brazenly sat in his shop eating breakfast. He kept his distance from Luo Ziling and Lin Lan while they were eating. When Luo Ziling asked for two more steamers of buns, he hurriedly brought them over, set them down, and scurried away as if Luo Ziling and Lin Lan were the plague.

Right when Lin Lan started on the second steamer of dumplings, two police cars arrived on the scene with sirens blaring.

A few police officers, accompanied by auxiliary police, got out of the cars. Seeing the unrecognizable wreck of the vehicle by the road with several people struggling inside, even the seasoned officers couldn’t help but gasp.

After briefly inquiring about the situation and extricating the unlucky souls from the car, they called for an ambulance, then two of the officers approached Luo Ziling and Lin Lan, who continued to eat and drink without regard. Their hands rested on their holstered guns, tense.

But before they could ask anything, Lin Lan, who was dealing with the dumplings, impolitely interjected, “Which unit are you from?”

The two officers, about to issue a stern questioning, paused when they heard Lin Lan’s impatient tone.

“We received a report of a serious car accident here with injuries and an altercation,” the leading officer said with a stern face as he questioned Luo Ziling and Lin Lan, “Was it you?”

“Which unit are you from?” Lin Lan raised her voice by an octave, and anyone could detect her dissatisfaction and anger.

Her words infuriated the police. They had never encountered such an arrogant woman who didn’t even give them a glance, only to demand to know their unit—a blatant contempt and provocation of police authority.

A malicious car accident, beating up the people in the other car afterward, and then leaving them hanging out the window—it was despicable and somewhat perverse.

What’s more, these two crazies, having caused trouble, didn’t flee but brazenly sat eating breakfast near the scene of the incident, indifferent to the arrival of the police. No one could stand such arrogance, let alone the police.

“Put your hands up,” one of the officers gestured as if ready to draw his weapon, “or we’ll take forced measures.”

However, the other officer was still calm, knowing that overly arrogant people must have some backing and might not be individuals they could afford to provoke.

So the other officer patiently repeated the situation: “We suspect you’re involved in the recent malicious car accident and assault. Please come with us to the police station for an investigation.”

Quite annoyed, Lin Lan raised her head and glared coldly at the two officers.

The officers felt a chill as her murderous gaze struck them.

Before they could recover, Lin Lan pulled out a credential from her chest and flashed it at the officers, saying, “I caused the car accident, and I beat those people. They were interfering with my official duties.”

Lin Lan’s movement in showing the credential wasn’t quick, pausing just long enough for the officers to get a clear look before she put it away.

Once the officers saw Lin Lan’s credential, their faces turned pale instantly, and the leading officer took a step back, saluting with his hand. “Commander, we will definitely deal with those who interfered with your mission accordingly.”

Perspiration of fright appeared on the officer’s face.

Good grief, those people were really unlucky to have messed with these deranged military personnel.

This officer was an ex-military man, once selected for special forces training, and had heard a thing or two about the elite special forces of Huaxia. He knew of a few Huaxia special forces units that terrified many.

The insignia on the woman’s credential belonged to the most mysterious of those special force units.

He just happened to know the symbol, which is why his face turned pale with fear.

Thankfully, he hadn’t been too impulsive just now, his words hadn’t been too risky, and he certainly hadn’t pulled a gun on anyone.

If he had pulled out a gun—he didn’t dare to imagine the consequences.

“Which unit are you from?” Lin Lan still looked unimpressed.

“Reporting, ma’am, we’re from Huding Police Station.”

“I will file a complaint with your superiors,” Lin Lan said, as she stuffed the last two buns into her mouth, slurped up the remaining soup, then stood up abruptly, signaling to Luo Ziling, “Let’s go!”

Without another glance at the two policemen, she put on her sunglasses and strode away with her head held high.

Luo Ziling hurried to keep up, looking every bit the loyal follower of Lin Lan, his heart still pounding with excitement.

Having a car accident, hitting someone, and still managing to carry such an air of authority; he was in complete awe of Lin Lan.

Once they were in the car, Lin Lan started the engine immediately, turned the car around, and drove off.

“You were so cool today,” Luo Ziling, fumbling to fasten his seatbelt, chuckled to Lin Lan, “That was the first time I saw you hit someone, and you did it with such style.”

Lin Lan completely ignored Luo Ziling.

Undeterred, Luo Ziling asked quietly, “Will you get punished for hitting someone after the crash?”

“I will, if they file a complaint.”

“Then will they report it?”

“You can go back and ask them.”

“…” Luo Ziling paused for a moment, seeing the sideways glance Lin Lan gave as she spoke; he really wanted to say, can you get any cuter?

“Don’t you want to know who’s behind those guys?” Lin Lan took the initiative to ask.

“Of course, I do,” Luo Ziling perked up instantly and nodded eagerly, then added, “Will you help me investigate?”

“No!”

Luo Ziling felt hurt immediately, and gazed at Lin Lan with a mournful look.

“That’s what you get for chasing girls recklessly,” Lin Lan added another blow.

As a result, Luo Ziling felt even more wounded.

The thought that Lin Lan had suddenly become adorable was quickly overturned; this woman was just as difficult as ever.

“Even if we investigated, we wouldn’t be able to figure out who’s behind it,” Lin Lan finally explained, seeing Luo Ziling’s indignant look.

“Alright,” Luo Ziling accepted her point.

Lin Lan said nothing more.
