Su Ziyun’s smile faltered, but she accepted the eye shadow box graciously. “Thank you, Jiayin.”
Tong Jiayin huffed, “No need to thank me. I won’t be using it anyway, so you might as well take it.”
Su Ziyun clutched the eye shadow box tightly, glancing over at Tong Jiayin’s elaborate makeup setup.
Seeing that Gu Yang and Gu Jin were not preparing any makeup, Su Ziyun breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed they weren’t planning to attend the ball.
That’s true. Knowing Gu Jin’s personality, she wouldn’t be inclined to join in the festivities.

Gu Yang nodded enthusiastically. “Yes!”
“As long as it’s pretty, it’s all good.” Qiao Manman flicked her hair back over her shoulder.
Su Ziyun couldn’t help but voice her concern, “Wearing such revealing clothes might attract unwanted attention and gossip, especially with people from outside the school around. You should be careful.”
Qiao Manman applied lipstick while looking at herself in the mirror. She disliked being lectured on her attire. “It’s not the Qing Dynasty anymore. I have the freedom to dress as I like.”
Gu Yang didn’t appreciate Su Ziyun’s comment. “Being cautious and dressing beautifully aren’t mutually exclusive. No matter how attractive someone is, it doesn’t justify any wrongdoing.”
Qiao Manman nodded in agreement, though she playfully pretended to reach for Gu Yang’s face with teasing intent. Under Gu Jin’s cool gaze, she quickly withdrew her hand, feeling slightly embarrassed.
“I’ve arranged to dance with a guy. I’ll see you later,” Qiao Manman bid farewell to Gu Yang and Gu Jin.
Once Qiao Manman left, Su Ziyun couldn’t help but sigh. “Manman is so lucky with guys. She’s barely started school and already knows all the boys in her class.”
During military training, Su Ziyun had also made efforts to integrate with the male students in her class, but she didn’t connect with them as effortlessly as Qiao Manman did.
