Truth Of The Forgotten Age

"Damn this thing! Cass, can you use a fire spell?" Veronica asked, just barely dodging away from the Hobgoblin's attack.

"Yes! Give me a second!" Cassidy answered, focusing her mind on the spell, memorizing the feel of magic coursing through her body. With great accuracy,  a ball a flame shot through the air and hit the Hobgoblin, forcing it away from Veronica.

A quick retreat allowed Veronica to be healed up by Eleanora while Aviris was tagged in.

The general plan was to have Cassidy in the back, shooting off ranged attacks, especially to make sure everyone can gain some distance. Veronica as the main frontline fighter during single enemy battles, with Aviris tagging in whenever Veronica disengages. And the Princess, although trained with the sword, stays back to heal the others, and only engages directly if necessary.

Luckily, the Hobgoblin wasn't too dangerous at the moment. It's axe wasn't too powerful, and the girls were decent enough at combat to not get terribly injured from low level creatures.

Sadly, the Hobgoblin itself was quite durable. Veronica was quite weak, so her attacks practically bounced off. Aviris' blades, although they did pierce through it's skin, they didn't cut very deeply and the Hobgoblin's natural regeneration made sure that her cuts were barely scratches by the time she's ready to setup another combo.

Of course, it didn't help that boss monsters are normal monsters with enhanced stats. Meaning a naturally low level monster can easily wipe out a group of adventurers if it is a boss.

Back to what's at hand, the Hobgoblin wasn't going down easily.

'Think, Veroncia! What can you do...? Perhaps... that could work... let's try it.'

"Avi! Disengage! Cass, hit it with the hardest thing you have!" Veronica ordered.

Both girls understood and did just so. Aviris was able to successfully disengage, and Cassidy was able to utilize a hard hitting void spell.

A mutter from Cassidy's mouth and a wave of her hand, three large, pitch black spears appeared, and with another hand movement from Cassidy, the spears were launched towards the Hobgoblin.

The spears pierced right through the Hobgoblin, and the girls were pretty excited. However, the spears didn't hit anything fatal enough to kill it. Once the spears disappeared, it's wounds started to heal.

"Avi, Elly, attack it at the same time!" Veronica barked out another order.

The two nodded and charged the creature, Aviris running around it to flank and Eleanora charging to it's front. At once, the two girls synchronized their attacks, Aviris inflicted two large, deep slashes to the Hobgoblin's back, and Eleanora thrusting her sword deep into the monster's gut.

"Disengage!"

The two quickly backed off as Veronica rushed in. The Hobgoblin seemed fed up at swung for her head. Veronica was quicker though, ducking underneath just in time and swinging as hard as she could into the monster's arm. With loud crunch both Veronica's club and the Hobgoblin's arm broke.

Veronica to the opportunity to quickly grab the axe the Hobgoblin dropped and, once again, as hard as she could, she swung the axe and connected it with the Hobgoblin's head, embedding the axe and killing it. Blood splattered all over Veronica's face and upper torso.

With the Hobgoblin slain, Veronica dropped to her knees and breathed a sigh of relief.

"We did it!" Cassidy exclaimed.

"Very well done girls!" Tisha applauded as they all gathered together.

"That was aggravating... but we finally got it! Let me see... Yes! I leveled up!" Aviris stated after checking her status.

Veronica, Eleanora and Cassidy all did the same.

Cassidy leveled up with some extra experience leftover. Eleanora also leveled up with a very small amount left over. And Veronica, was one singular point away from leveling.

"Are you kidding me!? One point!? Ugh... Well, at least I can get it on the way out." Veronica sighed in defeat this time. "Whatever. Let's grab the loot and get out of here. I need a shower."

A chest spawned at the back of the room, as well as a doorway that led to stairs leading down. Since they weren't going down any further, they just simply opened the chest.

First item out was an enchanted wand, which slightly increases magic capacity and magic effectiveness. Obviously for Cassidy.

Next was a ring, which gives the wearer some extra strength to their surprise attacks. Goes to Aviris.

A necklace with a holy symbol on it, enchanted to make holy spells, abilities and items have more effectiveness. Eleanora gets that.

And lastly, a long sword. Sure, it was low level, but had some decent stuff for what it was worth. With a small, temporary sacrifice of magic, it can act as a catalyst for any spell put on it. As it is currently empty, an enchanter would have to put spells on it. However, it was quite heavy, even conpared to other long swords.. Eleanora refused, as it would be too heavy for her to practically use. Cassidy was out of the question, as she doesn't even know how to use a sword, plus it does what she already does naturally. It didn't fit Aviris' combat style either. Tisha already had a much better sword, so clearly not her.

Which means it goes to Veronica, who could barely lift it.

"Well, I most certainly can't use it properly. I guess I could sell it for a decent amount though."

And like that, the group left the boss room, and headed out of the dungeon. Veronica did gain her last point on a bug after using her newly acquired sword like a hammer.

Outside they were, and back to Academy grounds. On the way back, a lot of people stared at Veroninca, which was understate, as she was covered in monster blood.

Once they got back to their dorm, everyone put their things down and got ready to take a shower. Thankfully, they all agreed for Veronica to go first.

After grabbing a towel, Veronica made her way to the shower.

A nice, hot shower. The relaxing pitter-patter of the water hitting ground and the warm embrace of the hot water on her body was desperately needed. All the dirt, grime and blood that was on her skin and in her hair came off and out with a little water, soap and scrubbing.

Freshly cleaned and in comfortable pyjamas, Veronica went back to her room to just simply lay there.

'I'll take a look at it all later. Just gonna rest for now.'

Roughly an hour passed before someone knocked on her door.

"Who is it?"

"It's Aviris. Can I um... come in?" Aviris' voice was clear, but she also sounded... off, in a sense.

"Sure! Door's unlocked anyways." Veronica agreed, sitting up on her bed.

Aviris entered the room, and the immediate thing thay Veronica noticed, was that she was wearing some rather risqué nightwear.

"What's... what's up?" Veronica tried to say, staring at Aviris' body. This was perhaps the first time she could actually see the rest of Aviris.

She was pretty fit, and her darker skin made her muscles stand out a bit more than lighter skin. And, as opposed to her muscles, her skin looked rather soft and delicate. She was a very nice mixture between strong warrior, and a lovely model.

"W-Well, I've been thinking... for a while. Ever since you told us about your um... skills, back in the dungeon. And I though that m-maybe... I could help with them as well." She stuttered on her words and fidgeted around. With Aviris acting like this, Veronica was only able to think of one word.

"Cute..." Veronica accidentally said out loud, causing Aviris to blush.

"Does... Is that a yes? Or...?"

"Y-Yeah. Y-You can. How uh... how do you want to...?"

Unlike with Cassidy, Aviris being less straight forward made things feel a bit more awkward. Which, Veronica assumed, was supposed to be the natural way to act in this situation. Cassidy is just... lewd, for lack of a better word.

Aviris shyly sauntered over and sat on the bed, nearly shoulder to shoulder with Veronica.

"I guess we can just... start of with the um... oral part?" Aviris thought aloud. "Or... perhaps a kiss? Or do I...?" She tried to think of what to do.

However, Veronica was already stiff as a stone column.

'Come on Veronica, take control of the situation!'

Amping herself up, Veronica leaned in a planted her lips on Aviris', who shared the kiss with no hesitation. Veronica led Aviris' hand to her nether-reigons.

When one thing led to another, Veronica was now laying on the bed, her pyjama bottoms completely off of her and set aside, and her shirt lifted up just under her breasts. Aviris was down at her legs, staring at the throbbing polearm in front of her.
