Chapter 42: - Yui's Consultation

The next day, because Yui contacted me asking for a consultation, we’re meeting at a shopping mall in the center of the city.

As I waited for a while because I had arrived earlier than the agreed time. Yui, who was late, finally came.

“I’m sorry Rin-san. Did I make you wait?”

“Yup.”

“Hey, isn’t this the place where you say I’m not waiting at all?”’

Is that how it's supposed to be?

I didn’t know that because I had never gone out with any other girls except for my sister.

“Of course, I’m just kidding. I am grateful for just having you accompany me today. Did Rin-san have any other things to do today?”

“Hmm? Well, I just conquered…captured Yunagi Dungeon yesterday, so it’s okay to take a day off today.”

“If that’s the case, I am glad… Then, let’s go to a cafe for the time being.”

Then, we entered a nearby cafe following Yui’s invitation.

Yui ordered something that I didn’t really understand which was a seemingly very sweet drink with cream on top of it while I reflected on the previous incident and ordered milk tea because I can’t drink bitter black coffee.

Then, after both of us took a sip of the drink we ordered when it arrived, I opened my mouth and said.

“So, what do you want to consult? If you’re specially consulting with me, then it means it was related to the dungeon?”

“Yes, it’s like that. I don’t have any adventurer acquaintances around me…thereupon, I remembered Rin-san.”

Then, after taking another sip of her drink, Yui informed me.

“Actually, I was invited to join a certain guild the other day.”

“Hoo…”

When I first met her, Yui’s level should be around 50. No matter how much effort she has put in since then, I think her level shouldn’t have surpassed level 100 yet. That’s why it’s quite amazing to get invited by a guild with her current status.

It’s because guilds are divided into large, medium, and small guilds. And the difference between them was whether they could afford to train low-level adventurers or not. Because of the mechanisms of the dungeon, even adventurers who weren’t talented could become strong as long as they have the time.

For example, rather than an adventurer who has overcome many dangerous situations for a year, an adventurer who has been normally capturing dungeons once a week for 10 years would have a higher level and ability.

Therefore, small and medium-sized guilds that didn’t have surplus funds would be looking for the latter.

Only a large guild that has a large number of funds could enclose young and talented types of adventurers like the former. And of course, Yui who was still below level 100 was categorized as the former.

Which means…

“Can I ask what’s the name of the guild that invited you?”

“It seems to be a guild named Yoizuki.”

“Yoizuki…?”

“Yes. This was the business card I got when they invited me.”

It’s a name that I may or may not hear somewhere.

I borrowed the business card from Yui to see what’s written on it. In addition to the guild name, a logo of a half-moon and a katana lying on top of one another on the business card. Looking at the mark, the word “Ah!” leaked from my mouth.

“I remember it now. I’m sure it's a guild that has entered the top ranks in Japan in the last few years.”

“The one who invited me also said that. He emphasized on how that guild is one of the few elite guilds in Japan and recommended me to join it as the guild will continue to grow in the future. And it seems they want a talented healer as every guild basically lacks them.”

“Well, of course, it would be like that…”

Because healers are valuable, HP recovery pills are sold at a high price. However, even if there are HP recovery pills, healers are still necessary because if there is a healer, a party will be able to handle various situations. That’s why people definitely want a healer at their party.

After listening to Yui’s story, I somehow realized what Yui wanted to ask me.

“This means, you wanted to consult with me about whether you should join this guild or not, right?”

“Yes, it’s like that…”

“I see. However, I’m not that familiar with the guild. Even so, are you fine with that?”

“Yes, of course!”

Yui leaned her body and vigorously nodded.

Wait, too close too close.

"*Cough* Well, although this might be similar to what you’ve heard from the guild's scout, once again I will talk about the merits and demerits of joining a guild."

"Please!"

"First of all, about the merits. As expected the best merit would be the support you could get in various aspects. If it's a large guild, they will provide you with equipment to some extent and there should be plenty of information about dungeon capture too. That is quite a big merit as with that, obtaining information that you had to get yourself until now would become easier because they will do that for you."

I took another sip of the milk tea before continuing.

"And the other merit is how the guild will choose your party members. If you join their guild, they will definitely organize an appropriate party based on the compatibility and ability of the adventurers with their members. With this, you don't have to make a party with people you don't trust. And I think you are the one who understands the most about the importance of this, right?"

"Yes…"

Yui shrank as if she remembered something unpleasant which was likely the incident where she got betrayed by her party members when I first met her.

"Then, next is about demerits. As expected, joining a guild means your freedom will be restricted to some extent."

"Restricted freedom?"

"Yes. If you become a part of a guild, the guild can make a dungeon capture plan for you. Well, this part is the same if you have a party and are going to challenge a dungeon regardless of whether you have joined a guild or not, though… then, the problem with being in a guild is, the requests from the Adventurer Association."

When I said that, the word "Ah!" was spilled from her mouth.

"I got a little explanation about this too. The scout said, in exchange for having a lot of privileges, being in a guild also has its obligations."

"If you know that much, then it will be easier to explain. When various problems regarding dungeons occur, the Adventurers Association can order a guild to deal with that problem. And without any special circumstances, that guild needs to comply with the order of the Adventurer Association. That's why it seems that guild members have to personally go to dangerous places sometimes."

Although I've never come across those kinds of situations, it is a well-known story that many adventurers choose not to join a guild because of such demerits.

"Well, to summarize, if you want to get stronger quickly then you should join a guild. But if you want to cherish other things besides getting stronger, you should just steadily get stronger without entering a guild. However, why did Yui decide to become an adventurer in the first place? If I'm not mistaken, you said you wanted to earn money for your life at college later but, is that all?"

"The reason why I decided to be an adventurer, huh…"

After a while, Yui slowly told me about her reason.
