Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.514 Starstrike Blast

Today started like they all do. I got a visitor in the Factory, he told me about an upcoming fissure, and I began to make plans for how to deal with it.

The one this time was luckily happening in the middle of nowhere, so I was able to do it my way. And that way today was letting Einar and Eline take on the fissure monsters.

They have been at the level cap, LV.99, for a bit now, and while I did consider just spawning S-rank monsters for them to fight inside HomeBase, I decided to just wait for the next fissures.

But sadly, the last fissure was the one in the Crystal Empire, so I decided not to take them there, and the one before that was the one with the demon, so sadly the cat-folk didn’t get a chance to fight an S-rank then.

But this time, nothing would get in the way.

So with the cat-folk loaded up in a ship, we took off.

The fissure itself was nothing special. I popped it open, summoned Exodia to fix it and watched over Einar and Eline, while making sure they didn't get overwhelmed.

Luckily the fissure came with three S-rank monsters, so there was one for Einar and Eline, while I kept the last one stun-locked with Dark Chain and Restraining Sword Barrage.

Then, when I spotted a few A-rank monsters coming out of the fissure late, I decided to quickly deal with them myself. So drawing out Errelitea, I used Time Accel on myself and quickly cut the monsters to pieces.

After Einar and Eline dealt with their S-ranks, I stopped my stun-lock combo on it and let the two cat-folk take care of that one as well.

And yeah. As I said last time, these fissures are really not as special as they used to be. I suppose when you know the strategies in dealing with them, they become simple.

But we got what we wanted. Einar and Eline got their Limit Breaks and I got a new set.

Since the two cat-folk got their limit breaks, here are their status.

Now, onto my new set. That set is Starstrike Blast

And a new set means ten packs, so let’s get to it.

Spoiler

Scrap Crash is too situational.

Red Screen prevents attacks, so it is amazing. And the maintenance cost isn’t that bad, and I probably don’t even have to pay it, thanks to Health Conscious.

Powersink Stone is interesting. As it stands, it isn’t that good, but I have a good relationship with stones that hold counters, so maybe I can do something interesting with it.

Mirror of the Ice Barrier is way too situational. But it looks cool, so maybe if I start turning HomeBase guest rooms into themed rooms, I can make an Ice Barrier themed room and it can have a mirror that looks like the Mirror of the Ice Barrier.

Karakuri Spider is too weak for its effect. Or at the very least, it needs a ‘cannot be destroyed by battle with Dark monster’ or something like that. Or the effect should trigger before damage calculation, not after it.

Koa'ki Ring is just a trashy Ring of Destruction replacement.

Swift Scarecrow is great.

Heat Wave only really restricts me.

And Tuning is really cool. Maybe I should even install it into myself, because I could probably get some sort of music related skill.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Karakuri Strategist … I don’t like it. It says a ton, but doesn’t really do anything.

Vanity's Emptiness is great… not really. It should prevent Summoning Magic, but that is such a niche skill in the first place that I really don’t need a counter to it.

Wightmare is good to have, even if I don’t generally use Skull Servants.

Attack Gainer is a liar. It says it is an attack gainer, but it removes attack instead.

Two Watthoppers can cause the Watthopper lock, so that is kind of cool.

Scrap Searcher is okay at most. I still have unlimited summons, so I don’t really need it.

Mirror Ladybug is the same as Scrap Searcher. It is good for the TCG, but I don’t need it.

And Blackwing - Abrolhos the Megaquake is fine. You wouldn’t use it in the TCG, but for me, it has its uses.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Blackwing - Boobytrap is too situational.

Axe of Fools is an interesting idea. Because if someone holds it, they should be unable to use their skills, and they even take damage while holding it. But they do get the attack boost.

Reed Butterfly is fine, but again, unlimited summons.

Medallion of the Ice Barrier is a generic search card, so I can get additional copies of Ice Barrier monsters. So yeah, it's fine, but Ice Barriers aren’t that good. Except the Synchros.

Wattdragonfly is actually really nice. Just special summons a Watt when it is destroyed, and it doesn’t matter how it gets destroyed.

And Gravekeeper's Recruiter is fine, but I don’t really use Gravekeepers.

Next pack.

Spoiler

White Elephant's Gift makes Pack tokens.

Star Siphon makes a token with a high level, but that isn’t really all that worth it.

Cursed Bill is super situational.

Naturia Pumpkin can get me other Naturia monsters.

Scrap Lube is a sucky Monster Reborn replacement.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Unknown Crusher is okay. Banishment is nice, even if it is after damage calc.

Wattkeeper sucks. I have better cards for that.

Karakuri Trick House is too situational.

Naturia Stag Beetle is super specific, but it has decent attack.

And Formula Synchron is amazing. … Well, at least it is good. I’ve kind of been needing a low level Synchro Tuner, and now I finally have one. And it even makes Pack tokens. So yeah, I really like it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Half Counter is fine, but I have better battle traps.

Extra Veiler is somewhat cool, because it can reflect effect damage.

Karakuri Anatomy makes Pack tokens, so that is nice.

And Karakuri Bushi is kind of meh, but better than the previous Karakuri monster.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Rescue Warrior is kind of cool. Sure the battle damage protection is not that needed, but if it dies, I get to take control of the monster that killed it.

Droll & Lock Bird is not that good, because people don’t draw cards. … but then again, it might prevent mana recovery, since cards in hand and mana seem to be related. So requires testing.

And Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana is fine. The effect to double its attack is nice, but sadly without it, it isn’t that strong.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Darkfall is way too specific, and I still don’t know what counts as special summoning. I know regular Summoning Magic counts as a normal summon, but what is special summoning? Maybe demon summoning? Spirit summoning?

Darkworld Shackles is a great card to install into criminals. … except for the part where it will slowly kill them.

And Wattsquirrel is cool, but just doesn’t have the attack stat for its effects.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Barkion's Bark is nice. No traps for a bit.

Needle Soldier gives a Synchro it was used as a material for piercing damage.

And Lancer Archfiend can once per turn give a monster piercing.

Last pack.

Spoiler

Vice Berserker has such a cool effect. Because a 2k attack boost is great. … but it is only until the end of the turn. If it was permanent, I’d actually really like the card. But it isn’t, so I don’t care.

Defenders Intersect is situational, but not bad. It does prevent defensive tactics, and seals all skills. So that is really good.

Necro Linker is trash. Why would I resurrect a Tuner I can’t use as Synchro material?

And Gravity Collapse is actually quite good. Sure you have to tribute a Synchro for it, but it prevents all summoning for the rest of the turn.

… was it ever used? Because I feel like it should have been. Or is it just too inconsistent to set up? Because preventing your opponent from summoning, even if you have to sack a Synchro monster for it, is amazing.

But yeah. That was the first ten packs of Starstrike Blast. One super rare and one ultimate rare. Not amazing, but not terrible either. Just kind of average.
