ChordVoicerPro: Official Walkthrough & User Guide
ChordVoicerPro is an intelligent MIDI FX plugin designed to take the simple notes you play and spread them across the keyboard, instantly producing professional, complex voicings.
This is not a generative plugin—it doesn’t write the music for you. Instead, it enhances your musical ideas, making whatever you play the best possible version of itself.
1. Visual Feedback: The Dual Keyboards
When you first bypass the plugin, you will simply hear the normal notes coming from your keyboard.
Turn the plugin on, and you’ll instantly see its intelligent routing in action.
The interface features two visual keyboards:
- Top Keyboard: Displays your raw input.
- Bottom Keyboard: Displays the processed, expanded output.
2. The 12 Voicing Styles & Key Switching
We’ve designed 12 distinct preset voicing styles—because you don’t need more than 12 notes to craft even the most complex harmonies.
These algorithms can arrange your input notes into everything from wide, cinematic orchestral spreads to tight jazz drop voicings.
To stay creative without touching your mouse, ChordVoicerPro includes a Key Switch feature:
- Choose a starting key (e.g., C1).
- Use the adjacent keys to switch between the 12 voicing styles on the fly, even while playing live.
3. The Expand Option
Add extra color or fullness to your chosen preset using the Expand toggle:
- Expand ON: Expands the played notes based on the current voicing style, creating a fuller, wider chord.
- Expand OFF: Produces a tighter, more focused voicing.
4. Scale Quantization (Never Play a Wrong Note)
If you hear complex harmonies but aren’t confident on the keyboard, Scale Quantization saves you.
- Choose from one of 16 professional scales (e.g., C Minor, Dorian).
- If you hit a wrong note, the plugin auto-corrects it, transposing your input and all expanded voicings into the proper notes of the selected scale.
5. Managing Your Keyboard Real Estate
Take full control of how your keyboard and voices are divided:
- Input Split:
Set a split point to separate your hands. The left side can trigger processed chords while the right remains dry for lead melodies.
Use the Invert option to flip this arrangement instantly.
- Register Split:
Define how voices are distributed. For example, set C3 (Middle C) as a divider—placing notes below it in the bass clef and those above it in the treble clef.
- Limit Range:
When composing for an instrument with a physical range (e.g., C0–C6), set exact note limits to prevent unplayable output.
6. Processing Modes: Buffered vs. Stream
Adjust how the plugin reacts to your playing style:
- Buffered Mode:
Adds a small, configurable latency window (5–100 ms) to group staggered notes into one cohesive chord.
Ideal for sustained harmonies and natural chord rolls.
- Stream Mode:
Processes every note instantly with zero latency. Perfect for fast arpeggios and clean, rhythmic playing.
7. The Preset System
You don’t need to start from scratch—ChordVoicerPro ships with 9 factory presets, including:
- Piano Chords
- String Section
- Brass Section
- Cellos, and more
Access these from the Preset Browser, then save your own custom setups as User Presets for easy recall later.
8. Input Transpose
Shift all incoming notes up or down by up to 3 octaves before processing.
For example, play comfortably in the midrange and transpose up two octaves to simulate a soaring flute section.
9. Real-Time Hardware Control (MIDI Learn)
Performers and producers can enjoy full tactile control using MIDI Learn:
- Assign knobs, faders, or pedals to control any plugin parameter.
- Example: map your expression pedal to Expand for real-time control, letting you swell chords dynamically during performance.
10. Important UI & Safety Features
The interface includes several key workflow tools:
- Chord Display: Shows real-time names of both input and output chords.
- Bypass Switch: Instantly A/B compare processed sound vs. raw input.
- Panic Button: Sends an “all-notes-off” command to stop stuck MIDI notes—essential for live situations.
- Help & Walkthrough Toggles:
- Help Toggle (?) — Enables mouse-hover hints for quick parameter info.
- Walkthrough Button (i) — Launches an in-plugin guided tour of all controls.
