Batman in the MCU

Are you worthy?

Sam and Steve spoke to one another as they made their way through the party. "Sounds like a hell of a fight, sorry I missed it", Sam spoke up after hearing Steve's story.

"If I had known it was going to be a firefight I absolutely would have called you" Steve added giving Sam an apologetic look. "No, I'm not actually sorry. I'm just trying to sound tough", Sam piped up immediately.

"I'm very happy chasing cold leads on our missing person's case. Avenging is your world. Your world is crazy." A smirk grew on Steve's face after hearing Sam's words.

"Be it ever so humble."

"You find a place in Brooklyn yet?" Sam questioned as the arrived at the destination and looked down at the party below. "I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn", Steve spoke up as a sad smile made it's way to his face.

"Well, home is home, you know?" Sam added on oblivious to Steve's expression.

Down at the party Rhodey told the exact same story he told Stark and Thor to a group of people at the party, "I fly it right up to the General's palace, I drop it at his feet, and I'm like, 'Boom! You looking for this?' " His audience burst out laughing causing a self satisfied smile to sprout on Rhodey's face.

At a counter Steve and Thor placed shot glasses before themselves, with Thor pulling out a flask to pour out it's contents in both their glasses.

"I gotta have some of that!" A veteran guest says after witnessing them, Thor immediately turns to him after hearing that. "Oh, no, no, and no. See this, this was aged for a thousand years, in the barrels built from the wreck of Grunhel's fleet, it was not meant for mortal men.

The veteran scoffs at that, "Neither was Omaha Beach, blondie. Stop trying to scare us. Come on."

Thor turns to Steve, the both of them sharing a look before he relents, "Alright". Thor poured out the wine for the veteran and in but a few minutes the veteran was being carried out by two men as he sang out, "Excelsior".

At a corner of the party Tony and Jeff stood with glass at hand as Jeff observed Maria who was hanging out with Rhodey. "So you and Maria, I didn't see that coming".

"Neither did I. It just sort of happened" Jeff spoke an involuntary smile forming as he spoke about her. "I'm happy for you" Tony took a sip from his glass, "I really am... although you put yourself in more and more danger".

Jeff turned to Tony at that, "you are friends with me, everyone knows of your financial donations to the Avengers-"

"I'm not the only billionaire to do so" Jeff cut in with a chuckle. "Now you are dating a former Shield agent. All this puts you in the eyes of many dangerous people buddy"

"Don't worry Tony. I can handle myself really well" Jeff gave Tony a knowing smirk.

At the bar, Natasha was in the process of fixing herself a drink when Bruce up to her.

"How'd a nice girl like you wind up working in a dump like this?"

"Fella done me wrong." Natasha played along, "You got a lousy taste in men, kid."

"He's not so bad. Well, he has a temper. Deep down he's all fluff. Fact is, he's not like anybody I've ever known. All my friends are fighters. And here comes this guy, spends his life avoiding the fight because he knows he'll win." Natasha spoke up as she stared into Bruce's eyes causing Banner to be flustered," Sounds amazing".

"He's also a huge dork." The sudden words caused Banner's expressions to go from flustered to embarrassed.

"Chicks dig that. So what do you think, should I fight this, or run with it?" Natasha continued pushing a drink to Bruce.

Completely flustered Bruce attempted to string his words together, "Run with it. Right? Or, did he... Was he...? What did he do that was so wrong to you?"

"Not a damn thing. But never say never." Natasha leaves Bruce with those words with her drink at hand.

Bruce remains still watching her leave when Steve comes up to him "It's nice."

"What, what, what is?" Bruce completely caught of guard turned to Steve, "You and Romanoff."

"No, we haven't. That wasn't..."

" It's okay. Nobody's breaking any by-laws. It's just, she's not the most... open person in the world. But with you she seems very relaxed." Steve had a small grin as he spoke to Bruce.

"No, Natasha, she... she likes to flirt."Bruce tried to explain but Steve just shook his head and responded. "I've seen her flirt, up close. This ain't that. Look, as maybe the world's leading authority on 'waiting too long', don't. You both deserve a win." with those words Steve walks away.

Bruce remains silent thinking about Steve's words when he realized, "wait, what do you mean, 'up close'?"

Majority of the guests had left leaving just the Avengers plus Dr. Cho and Maria Hill sitting around a table ; Thor's hammer sits on the table between them.

Jeff had left earlier after telling Maria of an alert he had received.

"But, it's a trick!" Clint pointed at  Mjolnir with a drumstick he had at hand.  "Oh, no. It's much more than that", Thor responded with a relaxed look.

"Uh," Clint gained a mocking tone as he continued " 'Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!' Whatever man! It's a trick."

Hearing that Thor simply gestured to Mjolnir, "Well please, be my guest." At this point the others had tuned in to the conversation with  Tony speaking out, "oh, come on".

"Really?" Clint questioned as he sat up,  "Yeah!" Thor confirmed causing Rhodey to burst out laughing, "Oh this is gonna be beautiful."

" Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up." Tony quipped causing the others to laugh.

Clint Barton speaks up after he arrives next to Mjolnir, "You know I've seen this before, right?" he gripped the hammer and began to pull but no matter what the hammer remained where it was without any movement whatsoever "I still don't know how" Clint admitted defeat as he turned to Thor.
