Chapter 23: A Month’s Time

Chapter 23: A Month’s Time

The two bottles of intermediate life potions had made Thor quite anxious. Over the next few days, he closely monitored the elderly man’s condition. Fortunately, the old man’s condition did not continue to deteriorate but rather began to improve noticeably, with an increasing amount of life energy emanating from him.

It was clear that he was likely to survive.

Thor finally felt a sense of relief. As mentioned earlier, he had invested a significant amount in the old man. If he had died, it would have been a huge loss, which was something Thor did not want to see.

“Ryan, make sure he’s well taken care of!” Thor instructed after confirming the old man’s improved condition.

“Yes, my lord!” Ryan quickly agreed.

Having checked on the elderly man, Thor refocused his attention on the construction of his territory. His primary concern was the development of Eagle’s Nest.

Under his meticulous planning, the pace of construction accelerated. The liberation of a few more slaves had invigorated the remaining ones, driving them to work with newfound enthusiasm.

The month passed quickly.

During this time, Eagle’s Nest underwent significant changes. Farmlands were cleared, buildings sprang up, and even the crucial Eagle’s Castle began to take shape. It wouldn’t be long before the castle was fully constructed.

More importantly, the crops in the fields were thriving. Despite being planted later than usual, the wheat grew exceptionally well, surpassing expectations. In just a month, the wheat stalks had already reached an inch in height.

The smiles of the people working in the fields grew more vibrant. They were filled with hope for the future. There was no need for supervision, as many of the slaves took the initiative to work the land early each morning.

“My lord is truly remarkable! Applying manure has made the wheat grow faster!” one worker commented.

“Indeed, back in my homeland, it would take at least two months for wheat to grow this tall. It’s only been a month, and it’s already this healthy,” another worker agreed.

“Such an incredible lord!”

“Of course, our lord is favored by the Goddess of Life.”

“By the way, have you heard?”

“Heard what?”

“I heard from one of the knights that our lord will free another batch of slaves in three months based on their performance.”

“Really?!”

“Absolutely, I heard it too!”

“Wow!”

“Our lord is so benevolent. May the Goddess of Life be with him!”

“May the Goddess of Life be with our lord.”

On the land, conversations were filled with hope and excitement about the future. The previous numbness and despair had been replaced by a renewed sense of anticipation.

At this moment, Eagle’s Nest had transformed significantly compared to other Pioneering knight territories. And this transformation was just the beginning. The upcoming changes were expected to be even more substantial.

With his knowledge from a previous life, Thor’s planning and construction for his territory far surpassed that of many nobles of this era. Even the highest-ranking nobles and the kingdom’s elite could not match the knowledge Thor had as a time traveler.

Moreover, each daily update provided Thor with valuable information on resource points that supported his actions. The potential changes and benefits from these resources were substantial.

As morning passed and dawn approached, the familiar mechanical voice of the information system sounded.

“Ding, the information system has been updated!”

“Would you like to open it?”

Thor responded with a soft voice, “Open!”

“Buzz!”

[7: In seven days.]

The text revealed a wealth of resource points. Among the ten options, most were valuable resources. Several, like the large iron mine controlled by timid goblins, were particularly enticing.

Iron mines, especially large ones, were highly valuable in this era. Large iron mines often contained mithril, a magical material used to forge silver weapons. Even a count would be interested in such a resource.

Thor was no exception. Securing the large iron mine would provide his territory with a stable and long-term economic foundation, which was invaluable.

Besides the goblin-controlled iron mine, there were also the spectral dragon’s lair and the unicorns. Each of these held significant value.

However, achieving these goals would require time and careful planning. Most of the resource points were beyond Thor’s current reach.

For example, the spectral dragon’s lair was occupied by earth dragons, which were formidable opponents. Earth dragons of adulthood were at least third rank, with the dragon leader possibly reaching the fourth rank. Even Thor’s father would have to tread carefully in such a situation.

Dragons, even if only a fraction of their bloodline, were incredibly powerful and far beyond the capability of ordinary magical beasts. Only high-ranking sky knights stood a chance against them.
