Chapter 70: The Astonished Rachos Assad

Chapter 70: The Astonished Rachos Assad

Thor knew nothing of the events unfolding in the Lawrence territory, nor did he care. With the external threats to Eagle Ridge stabilized, it was time to focus on internal development.

The two battles had brought him a large number of slaves and many who had earned enough merit to become freedmen. After a fortnight of tallying, Thor announced the emancipation of 300 serfs and granted 20 individuals the chance to join the reserve knights.

This declaration filled both the freedmen and the serfs of Eagle Ridge with excitement and pride. The promise of rewards for hard work spurred everyone to greater efforts, accelerating the territory's development.

Two weeks later, in the stables, Thor observed a remarkably docile unicorn. He was pleasantly surprised; Allen had managed to tame the unicorn in just a month.

“Master, this unicorn should be ready to advance in about six months. It’s already safe to ride without any issues,” Allen reported respectfully.

“Good! You’ve done well. Go to Ryan for your merit points,” Thor nodded, smiling broadly. He immediately mounted the unicorn, which remained calm under his weight.

Thor rode the unicorn around, feeling the wind rush past. His smile grew. With a peak-tier second-level unicorn, he could even escape from an Earth Knight if needed. Soon, this unicorn would advance to the third level, making Thor formidable against most threats in the Northern Province.

“My lord, Rachos has returned. He’ll arrive at Eagle Ridge in an hour,” a knight reported.

“Rachos? Excellent. Let’s go meet him!” Thor nodded and rode out, followed by his knights.

On the road, Rachos Assad and his entourage were making their way to Eagle Ridge. Deep in thought, Rachos reflected on his recent profitable trade expeditions. His first trip had yielded over 500 gold coins, and this time he was set to make even more, with a profit exceeding 3,000 gold coins from selling silver and iron armor and other goods.

This was his most successful venture in the Northern Province, and he knew it was just the beginning. Through trade, he had learned of Eagle Ridge’s victories over the Lawrence, Valmy, and Graton territories, making Thor the undisputed ruler of the Maine Valley.

Previously, not all frontier lords respected Rachos, with some even considering robbing him. Thor’s knights had saved him from being plundered. Now, with Thor’s recent victories, the frontier lords treated Rachos with utmost respect, offering him better trade deals and ensuring his safety.

While profits were important, Rachos was more impressed by Eagle Ridge’s growth under Thor’s leadership. Thor’s strength and success inspired hope and excitement in Rachos.

“Maybe I really can achieve more,” Rachos thought, eyes gleaming with anticipation. As he pondered, Thor approached on his unicorn.

“My friend, you never cease to amaze. Is that a peak-tier second-level unicorn?” Rachos exclaimed, eyes fixed on the unicorn.

“Yes, a recent acquisition,” Thor smiled nonchalantly. “Welcome back, my friend. Your smile tells me this trip was successful.”

“Indeed. Your victories have made trading much easier,” Rachos replied, still amazed.

“That’s excellent news. Come, I’ve prepared a feast. You must be hungry,” Thor invited.

“Certainly! I haven’t eaten in six hours,” Rachos laughed, following Thor into Eagle Ridge.

In the past two months, Eagle Ridge had transformed significantly. Rachos marveled at the visible changes. He had seen many frontier lords’ territories, but none matched the vitality and development of Eagle Ridge.

“Your land never fails to surprise me,” Rachos commented, deeply impressed.
