Chapter 71: The Unexpectedness of Count Engel

Chapter 71: The Unexpectedness of Count Engel

The banquet at Eagle Ridge commenced swiftly.

The feast was lavish.

Rachos Assad and Thor recounted their journeys on the trade routes over the past few months.

Thor also spoke of the recent outbreak of the expansion war.

With both of them taking turns to speak, the banquet was filled with a lively atmosphere.

"My friend, congratulations! You are now the true uncrowned king of the Maine Valley!"

"I think naming our trade association 'Eagle Trading Company' would be an excellent choice!"

Rachos Assad exclaimed in admiration, seemingly struck by a thought, and suddenly suggested.

"Eagle Trading Company!"

"Indeed, that seems like a good choice!"

"But this trade association is not just mine; it's yours too, Rachos Assad. How about we call it 'Rachos Eagle Trading Company'?"

Thor, noticing Rachos Assad’s slight nervousness, smiled and responded.

"This!"

"My friend, thank you for your generosity!"

Hearing Thor’s words, Rachos was visibly delighted and quickly responded.

"No, as I said, the trade association is mine and yours, isn't it? My friend."

Thor smiled.

He didn't care too much about the name of the association.

What mattered more was solidifying Rachos' alliance.

Rachos had proven his capabilities through the last two trade missions, and Thor was not about to miss out on such a talented individual.

Adding a name was no big deal.

After all, it wouldn't change the profit distribution.

What was most important was binding Rachos Assad firmly to his cause.

"Yes, it's ours."

"My friend!"

Rachos Assad nodded with an excited expression.

"To tomorrow!"

"I believe the Rachos Eagle Trading Company will have an even brighter future."

Thor smiled, raising his glass.

"To tomorrow!"

Rachos also raised his glass.

The banquet concluded.

Three days later.

Rachos set out once again.

This time, there were no silver armors.

However, there were over three hundred black iron armors and some other items they had acquired recently.

Additionally, Neil Morton left with Rachos Assad.

Thor didn’t know where they were heading.

He only knew that Neil Morton seemed to need to leave for a while.

Naturally, Thor didn’t try to stop him.

Even though he was losing a powerful Sky Knight, his territory was now strong enough that there was no need for concern.

After bidding them farewell, Thor refocused his attention on the development of his territory.

Especially on planning the fertile lands in the Maine Valley.

The land here was incredibly fertile, but no one had chosen to develop it due to the frequent flooding.

For Eagle Ridge to be stable, this problem had to be solved.

However, solving it wasn't easy.

Even with some ideas in mind, it would take considerable time to perfect them.

While Thor was absorbed in refining his plans.

Thousands of miles away.

In the Frostmoon Province, on the Dresrosa estate, Count Engel Dresrosa received a letter from his son, Thor Dresrosa, several months later.

"Honorable Father, this is your son, Thor Dresrosa. May the Goddess of Life bless you. Your son has been somewhat successful in his territorial expansion, but has encountered some minor troubles. Eagle Ridge now has over three thousand people, with many affairs to manage. Your son feels increasingly weary and hopes to receive your assistance."

The words gradually came into view, and Count Engel Dresrosa’s expression was one of surprise.

"Hahaha, it seems my son is doing quite well!"

Count Engel Dresrosa put down the letter with a satisfied look on his face.

Thor Dresrosa, his ninth son, hadn’t been someone he paid much attention to.

First, because his son's knightly talent was only average.

Second, because he hadn’t shown much information.

But unexpectedly, before reaching adulthood, his son had given him a surprise.

Not only did he break through to become an apprentice knight before coming of age, but he also won the allegiance of a highly promising guardian knight.

And he resolutely chose to become a Pioneering Knight.

Given this, he decided to support him.

A substantial gift.

Second only to what he had given his second son when he became a pioneering lord, and more than what he had given other pioneering lords.

It was an investment, one with uncertain outcomes.

After all, this was the Northern Province.

In his generation, aside from Thor, three other sons had become pioneering lords, but within a few short years, only one remained. Whether Thor would survive was uncertain, even to him.

But less than a year later, Thor Dresrosa sent him a letter.

Asking for assistance with some administrative officers.

Although it was just administrative officers he needed, Count Engel Dresrosa could tell that Thor Dresrosa must have completed the basic expansion.

Perhaps even done an excellent job.

Only then would there be a need for many administrative officers.

"Charlie!"

After pondering for a moment, Count Engel Dresrosa called softly towards the door.

"My lord!"

The butler, Charlie, entered, bowing respectfully.

"Go and summon the administrative officers from the town of Dresrosa."

Count Engel Dresrosa ordered.

"Yes!"

Charlie nodded and quickly withdrew.

In the afternoon.

A middle-aged man entered the Dresrosa castle.

"My lord!"

The administrative officer greeted respectfully.

"Oliveto, I need you to gather some administrative officers, ones proficient in handling affairs. How many can you allocate?"

Count Engel Dresrosa looked at the middle-aged man and asked.

"Administrative officers?"

"My lord, I should be able to allocate a dozen or so."

The middle-aged man pondered for a moment before replying.

"Alright!"

"Select five. I need to send them to my fledgling Thor Dresrosa."

Count Engel Dresrosa nodded and gave the order.

"Yes!"

The middle-aged man was slightly surprised but quickly agreed.

"Charlie!"

After giving the order, Count Engel Dresrosa turned to the butler, Charlie, again.

"Gather some carpenters, stonemasons, and workers—select a hundred!"

Count Engel Dresrosa instructed once more.

"Yes!"

Butler Charlie promptly responded.

Soon, the personnel began to gather quickly.

Since Count Engel Dresrosa knew his son had completed the basic expansion, he decided to send a second batch of support.

This time, he not only prepared five elite administrative officers but also a large number of craftsmen.

At the same time, he added another group of knights.

Although this time there weren't as many official knights, only ten to serve as guards along with over a hundred apprentice knights, he did provide a Grand Knight.

This was originally intended to be given after Thor Dresrosa became a baron, but now that Thor's progress was promising, he decided to give it earlier.
