Harpia Harpyja

Wolfkin Acquired

Aaaagh sorry for the slow releasing and short chapter! My schedule got a whole lot busier so I'll be slowed down for a while, but I don't have any plans on pausing.

-Nara-

I burst into my small apartment, locked the door behind me, and then flopped onto the couch.

My heart felt like it wanted to burst out of my chest. My breath was uneven and shaky.

Was this what it felt like to be in love?

Ugh, this was so difficult.

I knew that Evelyn was already in a relationship with the two she went around with, the dragonkin and catkin. I was pretty sure that they had Essence Bonds as well.

That night, I cried myself to sleep.

-Evelyn-

During the next few days, our lives slipped into a strange sort of rhythm.

Each day, we woke up and would attend a variety of classes, including sparring, alchemy, and blacksmithing. We were slowly improving each day, and our techniques were becoming better and better.

Also, I hardly ever saw Nara. There was one time when I saw her from a distance and another time that she walked into a classroom I was already in, but she left once she saw me. She was clearly avoiding me, which made me a little sad.

One morning, I decided to find her.

After telling Scarlet and Kathyrine where I was going and what I planned on doing, I left, determined to at least talk with her.

I spent at least a half hour searching through the hallways and classrooms of the school. I checked all the classrooms I'd been to and even looked inside a few that I hadn't. I didn't see Nara anywhere.

Eventually it hit me.

She was hiding in the library.

I immediately took flight, using my magic to accelerate me to speeds I'd never reach while using my legs. I turned a corner into a courtyard and ascended into the sky. There were a few others moving around in the sky, but not many.

I spiraled around the imposing structure of the school before landing in another courtyard. From there it was only two short hallways to the library.

From there, I headed to the upper floor so I could look from above.

It didn't take long before I spotted her. She was sitting in a large bean-bag chair, holding a book.

I slowly glided down, landing behind her.

Then I walked up and leaned over her.

"Hey," I said. "I've been looking for you."

Nara froze, pausing in the middle of turning a page.

"I'm sorry if I came on too strong and scared you away," I told her. "I wanted to get together with you. If you don't want to, that's fine."

"N-no, I do," Nara stuttered.

"Great," I said, turning her head and giving her a deep kiss. When I pulled away, she was staring into my eyes. "Come on, let's take this somewhere more private."
