I Don’t Want To Court Death!

Chapter 3: The Smitten Second Princess (Remastered)

Within the throne room of the imperial palace, the Ivory King sat on his throne while his chief adviser knelt before him.

“Your majesty, although he will be serving as a butler for our house, he is the son of House Lord Yang Wushan. I do not believe that we can keep him as a butler,” The chief advisor said politely. Although his demeanor was calm, his heart was in great turmoil when the king had told him to come and explained the situation to him.

“I believe so as well. I met that child years ago, and I liked him a lot. I was planning to select him as a candidate for being Little Jasmine’s fiance, yet, now this has happened. Although, I’m now considering him as the only marriage partner for her.” The Ivory King smiled.

Although Yang Yang was the son of his best friend, he would be someone who directly serve the royal house. To marry a servant was shameful, especially for the women of the house. Though, when your servant was a god’s scion, exceptions may be applied.

"Your majesty, in regards to the son of the House of Yang, it is best that we still send him to the Second Princess," The chief adviser said.

"Hm... Yes, she should be quite lonely as of late." The king thought for a moment. "It would be best to send him to the Department of War and Justice as well. He can be trained by the War-Justice Minister and become a valuable fighter. After all, he's a scion of a god, and Brother Yang does want him to be able to defend himself. Beside me, there's no one as strong as the War-Justice Minister."

"Indeed, your majesty. However, that boy awakened the Rank 9 Life Essence Grimoire. He is innately gifted in Life Magic. All people that are born with Life Magic are gentle by nature, so training him as a fighter does not seem appropriate. Only the Minister of the Department of Medicine and Health, Chief Doctor Stone Cliff, can train him appropriately."

"Perhaps, but the chief doctor is a quite eccentric. He may be the best Life Magic magus in our kingdom, but his philosophy doesn't align with Life Magic at all. In contrast, the War-Justice Minister can train him how to fight and protect him."

"No worries, your majesty. I am sure that the chief doctor will exercise restraint. As eccentric as he is, he will understand the severity of having a Rank 9 talent with us."

The king furrowed his eyebrows. "So be it. Assign him to be the chief doctor's student. However, I also want him to be assigned to my second daughter. As the Scion of Life, his presence would surely bring good fortune and life energy to her as well."

"As you command, your majesty." The chief adviser exited the throne room.

The king laid back on his throne and contemplated. "My good Brother Yang, worry not. As long as I am here, I'll make sure that your son is safeguarded from those demons in the eastern frontier."

The king turned his head to the east where the House of Yang was located. He closed his eyes and murmured other things to himself.

......

Yang Yang rolled around in his bed and giggled to himself.

"Yes! After millions of years, my plan worked out for once! That crazy chick is definitely using secret magics to find me, but definitely doesn't know what else I had in store for her."

He got up from the bed and began examining the room.

"Hm? In this life, I am the son of the Lord of the House of Yang, one of the 108 Noble Houses of the Ivory Kingdom. It seemed my father sent me here because of a war against demons in the east. Damn. I chose a planet to reincarnate into a couple millions of years back because there were no demons on this planet. Although a couple millions of years is quite a lot of time for change, huh?"

After receiving the inheritance of the God of Life and becoming the Scion of Life, Yang Yang was immediately hunted by the Scion of Death, Fei Fei.

In his previous life, he was a paramount expert of Life Magic which was allowed him to obtain the Jade of the Life God and gain near-divinity. However, Fei Fei was the Scion of Death and a similarly powerful expert, but in Death Magic.

When they first met each other, she knew that she had to chase him down and he knew that he had to get away from her. As scions, their intrinsic nature align with the magical law they embodied. Life naturally avoid Death; Death naturally come to Life. Life negates Death; Death ends Life.

Thus, their chase lasted for millions of years until Yang Yang spent that time to create spells and preparations necessary to reincarnate somewhere far away from her. Now that he had time to himself, he had the opportunity to focus onto godly ascension.

Although he was the successor to the God of Life, he was unable to ascend to godhood, and Fei Fei was in the same situation.

"This life will be different! I will become a god! And once I do, I'll seal her up for all eternity!"

People born with Life Magic were indeed gentle by nature. However, being chased by a powerful deity that wanted to kill you will change anyone's nature; his personality took drastic turns and changes over the eons. Yang Yang also could not kill her either, or else another Scion of Death will appear.

Footsteps could be heard outside the door. Yang Yang quickly jumped back onto the bed and put on a blank expression. An old butler with a large nose walked in.

“Youngster, what do you know?" The old butler asked.

"Excuse me, sir?" Yang Yang was perplexed at the old butler's question.

"Good, let me explain. You were a slave that was purchased at a nearby slave market and selected because of your magical aptitude. Now, with your old life and memories abandoned, you are reborn as a butler to the Ivory Royal House." Yang Yang knew that the large-nose, old butler lied, but kept his thoughts to himself.

"Now then. It's time to get you ready." The old butler's eyes were gentle as he led Yang Yang outside the door for grooming.

......

Within the royal palace, a child was running across the garden while several maids chased after her. The child wore a floral-designed purple dress and seemed around ten years old. Every now and then, a spell circle would appear below her feet and she would accelerate, much to her maids' distress.

"Your highness, please stop!" One of the maid cried. However, a spell circle appeared below her feet as well to accelerate her speed. Clearly, the maids were feigning distress to entertain the little girl.

The little girl giggled, but only increased her speed as she ran. However, a large-nose, old butler caught her by holding onto her arms. She looked up and smiled even brighter.

"Grandpa Reed!" The little girl jumped up and hugged the butler.

“Princess, your new butler has arrived.” Old Butler Reed kneeled down and placed the little princess down.

“Butler?” The princess tilted her head.

“Yes. Your father has given him to you. Generally, no regular, young male servants are allowed to be assigned to you until you reached adulthood, but this youngster is quite special.” Old Butler Reed stepped out of the way and allowed her to look behind him.

Before her was a boy of similar age, with inky, black hair who wore a beautifully-crafted butler attire that was as of the same color. However, what attracted her the most were his eyes that were greener than emeralds, gorgeous as jade, and vibrant like the trees of spring under the morning sun.

Her purple eyes continued to stare deeply into the boy’s eyes. She would inched closer to him, while he would stand still. She would looked with increasing interest, while he would stare back with indifference.

She could feel her heart beating faster and the blood inside her getting hotter. It was as though more energy were flowing inside her, as though her life was expanding beyond centuries, as though she found the meaning of existence, all just by looking at this boy.

For what felt like eternity was no less than a minute. She blushed and blinked. “Hey, I’m Ivory Jasmine. What’s your name?”
