I no longer want to be a part of this triangle

Chapter 12- Wife

Kohta brought Katori back to her home. She was devastated and was crying on the way back home. He tried comforting her but she was not ready to listen.

Once they reached her home, Kohta prepared a cup of hot chocolate for her since he knew what could calm her down.

It might be the first time Kohta has seen her in such a pitiful state.

...that makes him feel even more agitated at Kazuki. What could he have possibly said to make Katori this sad?

Did he misbehave again? No, if that had happened, Katori would have been furious rather than sad. Then what?

"Are you fine now?" As she sipped on the hot chocolate, Kohta wiped her eyes with wet wipes to not hurt her tender skin. Just by weeping, the side of her eyes became red, and so did her small nose.

Katori slowly nodded before apologizing, "Sorry for making you worried."

"You don't need to worry about it. Rather, tell me what happened with Kazuki back then. Do I need to talk to him?" Despite her answer, Kohta already had decided to have a conversation with him. Kazuki has been behaving weirdly a lot, and if his behavior was causing grief to Katori, then...

"Please don't make that face, Ko-kun," Suddenly Katori cupped his cheek and pleaded. Her eyes turned moist again as she added, "I was being a nuisance to him. Pestering him to talk things out. But Kazu-kun firmly rejected me."

Kohta frowned, "But why did you want to talk to him?"

Katori's head leaned down as she encircled her thumb on the cup and slowly muttered, "Don't you think...we misunderstood him?"

Katori had no option but to land this seed now. Canonically it would have been revealed through video footage that Kazuki was innocent. But things have diverted from canon a lot, and now she couldn't have Kazuki stray away anymore.

Kohta's frown deepened, "But we both saw that he was the only one standing nearing the mist fan."

"Yes...but do you think Kazu-kun would ever do something like making a fool out of me in front of the whole school?" Her response didn't allow Kohta to instantly retaliate. Rather he was forced to contemplate.

Surely, Kazuki was flirtatious, but he never went to such an extent where Katori had to get ashamed in front of others. Rather, he saved her from humiliation back then when she got drenched by the bullies. He gave her his shirt and escorted her to the infirmary while being shirtless.

Now that Kohta thinks about it, he also made a quick judgment based on Katori's slap. He thought that since Katori deemed him guilty then Kazuki was guilty.

"Ko-kun, should we go and talk to him? I think if he had been at fault, Kazu-kun would have tried to apologize. But when I met him earlier, he just wanted me to leave and told me to never show my face to him again."

Katori accepts that she exaggerated things a little, but who cares? All she wanted from Kohta was to bring Kazuki back where he was. She couldn't let go of him. And especially not when they haven't reached the conclusion of this story.

Kohta shook his head, making Katori nearly frown, but his following words helped her maintain her facade,

"I will go and talk to him. But I will go alone. He has already hurt you plenty, so stay here and wait for me."

Kohta spoke before he got up. Just as he was about to leave, he turned around, and after bending slightly, he planted a soft kiss on her forehead.

Katori was genuinely stunned as she heard him saying, "I forgot to tell you previously, but you look adorable even while crying."

Her face became red hearing that. More so when Kohta flashed that dazzling smile that only a shoujo male lead could possess.

Soon Kohta turned around and left. He wanted some answers. And only one person could provide them.

*******

Kazuki currently was feeling like some sort of prince.

No, he wasn't being narcissistic here while looking at himself in the mirror. That feeling arose because of the treatment he was receiving from his junior.

She first transported him to his bedroom, turned the AC to the perfect temperature, and draped a blanket over him. She gave him a plushie to hold and put his phone away. After giving him a warm cup of honey water she went to the kitchen to prepare food.

'Seriously if I live like this for even a week...I might get addicted...' While holding the plushie deep in his arms, he smiled foolishly.

Not so long after, "Dinner is ready!"

She chimed from the doorstep. Her face was full of smiles as she invited him to the dining table.

Kazuki got out and walked towards the dining table.

His eyes sparkled seeing the hot pot waiting for him at the table

"Sukiyaki?! Did you prepare all this?" Although he already knew the answers Kazuki couldn't help but ask in excitement.

God knows how long it has been since he had a hot pot.

"Yep. Ah...I might have ended up emptying your chicken stock and vegetables."

"In exchange for this hot pot, you could have taken even my house, Kohana-chan." An excited Kazuki replied.

Kohana giggled as she urged him, "Now get seated. I will serve you."

Kazuki wanted to say that he could serve for himself, but remembering what she said earlier, he obediently listened to her.

When Kazuki requested her to stay here tonight, Kohana had only one condition.

'Let me spoil you for tonight, Senpai, without objection.' He foolishly nodded and now he was feeling like he actually was getting spoiled.

Kohana took out some vegetables and meat from the boiling broth before putting it in his bowl.

"I have cooked some rice too. Do you want some?"

Kazuki nodded with a big smile as he picked up the bowl.

Picking some spinach leaves and chicken between his chopsticks, he blew over it, letting the steam blow away before he finally put it inside his mouth.

The perfect flavor of ingredients he liked assaulted his taste buds and made his mind numb for a moment. The broth, the tender chicken, the cooked spinach...just melted on his tongue and made Kazuki close his eyes to enjoy this unreal sensation.

"Did you like it?" Kohana asked as she arrived beside him with a bowl of rice.

Kazuki nodded as he finished chewing, and after turning towards her, he said, "I never had any specific preference for a wife, but after meeting you, I don't think I could settle for anyone less than you."

Kohana halted mid-path and stared at her Senpai wide-eyed. The word 'wife' just dealt boss-level damage.

Kazuki also didn't shy away from what he said and looked at Kohana with a soft smile on his face.

*Ding* *Dong*

To ruin the sweet moment between the two, suddenly someone knocked on the door.
