CHAPTER 302

CHAPTER 302: Confronting the Gods

In a flash, Jiu Han returned to his residence from the examination hall. His destination: the tallest structure in Xuanshui City and the entire academy—Boshi Tower.

Standing on the top floor, alone in the vast open space, Jiu Han could no longer contain his excitement. The emotion surged through him, unrestrained.

“Hahahahaha!”

Laughter exploded from his mouth, growing louder with each second. His voice turned into a force of sonic energy, shaking the entire Boshi Tower. The tremors rippled through the structure, threatening to topple it, but the tower held firm under the protection of its powerful array of formations.

Finally, after releasing the full extent of his joy, Jiu Han wiped away the tears that had formed in his eyes. His expression slowly calmed as his thoughts shifted, though a spark of elation still danced across his face.

“At 27 years old, with three exotic silver patterns… and already on the path of Primordial Pattern Awakening…” he murmured, more to himself than to anyone. “Such talent… such incredible talent! How could I ignore this?”

Despite what he’d said earlier about Lu Ming’s abilities being somewhat common in the Black Mist Zone, deep down, Jiu Han knew the truth. His earlier words had been hasty, spoken in excitement. To compare Lu Ming’s talent to those of other gods or even the Corpse God was a stretch. In reality, Lu Ming’s potential rivaled even the Eternal Divine Master.

If nothing interfered, Lu Ming was destined to ascend the Heaven Ascension Stairs. And if he reached the top? He could become a god of the Eternal Clan.

“But the Heaven Ascension Stairs…”

The thought of the Heaven Ascension Stairs gave Jiu Han pause. It was because of those stairs that he had sworn, long ago, never to take on another disciple. That vow had been the result of a deeply personal decision—one closely tied to the Heaven Ascension Stairs. Jiu Han had once vowed never to guide another disciple to godhood.

Yet here was Lu Ming, a talent so great that Jiu Han found himself forced to reconsider.

After a long sigh, Jiu Han finally made up his mind.

If he possesses such talent… perhaps that path can still be traversed...

Having resolved his inner conflict, Jiu Han turned his attention back to the examination hall, where Lu Ming was preparing for his temperament test. Suddenly, Jiu Han slapped his forehead.

“Ah! I got so excited, I almost forgot!”

With a quick flick of his fingers, a small blue light shot from Jiu Han’s hand. In an instant, it flew across the distance and arrived above Lu Ming’s head. The light entered Lu Ming’s body through his Crown Chakra.

A wave of cool energy coursed through Lu Ming’s body. The chill was refreshing, and the energy flowed quickly within him, its potency undeniable.

Moments later, Lu Ming exhaled, and the blue light emerged from his mouth. This time, the light was accompanied by a twisted, pale gray rune—its shape distorted and foreign.

Jiu Han’s voice echoed within Lu Ming’s mind.

“I’ve removed the Moonlight Curse Seal within your body.”

Lu Ming took a deep breath, the tension leaving his body. Well, that saves me a Divine Origin point, he thought, relieved.

From afar, he bowed respectfully in the direction of Boshi Tower, and Jiu Han’s voice came again.

“I know about your grudge with Moonfiend Yue. But now, as my disciple, a mere diety like Moonfiend Yue is nothing to concern yourself with.”

As a seasoned educator, Jiu Han was intimately familiar with nearly all of the gods in existence. He had recognized the aura of Moonfiend Yue’s power within the seal. More importantly, Jiu Han’s strength was more than enough to protect Lu Ming from any revenge Moonfiend Yue might attempt.

This had been Lu Ming’s plan all along. He had no intention of being Moonfiend Yue’s puppet forever. In fact, he wanted revenge.

To stand up to a diety like Moonfiend Yue, Lu Ming knew he needed the backing of another god. The simplest way to gain that protection was to attract the attention of a powerful Divine Realm expert. Jiu Han and the Hundred Schools of Philosophy had been his targets from the start.

But even with his plan, Lu Ming hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly. Jiu Han had accepted him as a disciple without hesitation, even saving him some Divine Origin points in the process.

Just then, a sudden burning sensation spread through Lu Ming’s chest. He reached into his robe and pulled out the token Moonfiend Yue had given him. It was ringing once again.

Lu Ming infused it with origin power, and Moonfiend Yue’s voice immediately burst from the token, filled with fury.

“Where is my Moonlight Curse Seal?! How did you lose it?!”

“Lu Ming! What the hell are you doing?!”

Lu Ming’s grip tightened on the token, but his voice remained steady. He inhaled deeply, then spoke loudly for all to hear.

“I’m messing with your mother. You deserve it!”

Moonfiend Yue: “…”

Jiu Han: “…”

The surrounding crowd: “???”

From inside Boshi Tower, Jiu Han burst into laughter again. He hadn’t expected this. Most people in the crowd had no idea who Lu Ming was talking to, but Jiu Han knew exactly who. And to hear an Ancient Realm expert cursing a god in public? That was something Jiu Han hadn’t witnessed in his long life.

On the other end of the token, Moonfiend Yue was left speechless. She had been insulted before—Shufang and Hao Jun had done it often enough—but she never expected to be insulted so brazenly by an Ancient Realm cultivator.

For a long moment, she was too stunned to respond. But then, her voice returned, sharper and more venomous than before.

“What did you just say!?”

Lu Ming, now calmer, repeated, “I said I’m messing with your mother. Did you hear me this time?”

Moonfiend Yue’s rage surged through the token. “I’ll teach you a lesson, trash!”

Lu Ming’s response was cold and direct. “That’s no way to treat your subordinates. Ever heard of sincerity? If you don’t treat others sincerely, how do you expect them to return the favor?”

His voice softened, but his words cut deeper. “I never wanted to be your subordinate. You forced me into this. And frankly, working under a god like you isn’t embarrassing for someone like me. But look at how you’ve handled things. You let yourself be humiliated by stronger gods, and instead of standing up to them, you take your frustration out on the weak.”

He paused, narrowing his eyes. “With someone like you, even if I were willing to serve, your ancestors would be rejoicing in their graves. But you don’t even know how to value loyalty.”

“Who do you think you are?”

“Do you even have a brain?”

On the other end, Moonfiend Yue was so enraged that she could hardly form words. The sound of her teeth grinding together came through the token.

After what felt like an eternity, she finally managed to speak. “Fine… Lu Ming. You’re good… very good.”

Lu Ming smirked. “I know. I’m great. What, are you going to bite me? Come on then.”

“I’m at the Three Elements Academy. Do you dare to come here?”

“I bet you don’t. You’re good at tormenting your subordinates, but when it comes to facing real enemies? You’re spineless.”

He took a step forward, his voice dripping with scorn. “It’s said that bitches are heartless and actors are unjust. You, Moonfiend Yue, are both. I’m flattering you by even calling you a bitch. Go hide under your blanket and think about what you really are.”
