CHAPTER 318

Chapter 318: Holy Son

Origin power flowed through the transcendents' bodies, much like blood coursing through veins. This was a natural, instinctive process, requiring no conscious control. With just a thought, transcendents could manipulate Origin power to perform various techniques.

However, for Lu Ming, the Divine Origin was different. It was sluggish, like excess fat sitting inert in his body, moving at a snail’s pace. Though he could command it, the speed at which it responded was agonizingly slow—almost stagnant.

This made the Divine Origin useless in combat scenarios. His enemies would never give him the time needed to mobilize it. Lu Ming felt that even if he took 10 or 20 minutes to summon the Divine Origin, the result would likely still be unsatisfactory, whether for offense or defense. It was like having a lazy, unreliable subordinate—could he really count on it to complete any task?

Jiu Han fell into deep thought, silently considering the problem.

After a moment of reflection, Jiu Han finally spoke. “The issue lies with transcendence. Without achieving a transcendent state, you cannot fully command the Divine Origin.”

Lu Ming recognized the term "transcendent" from his attribute panel and, without hesitation, asked, “Teacher, what exactly is transcendence?”

Jiu Han responded, “Transcendence is the ultimate reward bestowed by the Supreme God upon reaching the summit of the Heaven Ascension Stairs…”

Jiu Han’s voice trailed off as if his mind had wandered elsewhere. He paced back and forth in the classroom, lost in thought for nearly ten minutes before he turned back to Lu Ming.

“You’ve done well, but the challenges ahead are beyond your current abilities.”

He continued, “Leave the rest to me. I’ll find a way for you to properly use the Divine Origin… though it will take some time. There are other matters I need to resolve first.”

After a brief pause, Jiu Han added, “I have to leave to take care of something. In the meantime, find Yan'er and have him escort you to Area Three. I’ve arranged a new training ground for you there.”

With that, Jiu Han vanished without a trace.

Back in his courtyard, Lu Ming immediately sought out Yan'er, who was already aware of his purpose. Yan'er led Lu Ming to the front gate without delay.

Opening the door, a vortex-shaped portal appeared before them. Yan'er stepped through first, with Lu Ming close behind.

They emerged in front of a towering, ten-meter structure. The tower appeared to be made of crystal, and void energy swirled around it with intense, terrifying force. Lu Ming inhaled sharply at the sight.

“What is this?” he asked, unable to hide his awe.

“This is the cultivation resource Teacher has prepared for you,” Yan'er replied.

He pointed to the tower. “A cultivation tower, constructed entirely from Eternal Stones.”

Before Lu Ming could respond, Yan'er continued, “And inside are treasures imbued with the power of space and time, all meant to strengthen you.”

“There are other items as well,” Yan'er added. “Senior Brother, follow me.”

The tower was ten meters tall and divided into three levels. Upon entering, Lu Ming saw scattered Eternal Stones and other valuable artifacts imbued with Void Power—Flameheart Stones, Eternal Stones, and other treasures radiating immense energy.

Though Lu Ming had no real concept of wealth, even he could tell that the items within the tower could purchase dozens, if not hundreds, of ancient cities.

They ascended to the second floor, where more treasures awaited, though nothing particularly remarkable stood out beyond the sheer quantity of resources.

On the third floor, the space was different. The room was simple but luxurious, exuding a quiet elegance. The floor, a pale blue-green, radiated a faint coolness beneath his feet. A woven straw mat covered part of the floor, emitting a refreshing fragrance. Overhead, a glowing pearl bathed the room in warm light.

In the corners of the room, four incense burners released fragrant smoke, though it was difficult to determine whether the scent was pleasant or strange.

Lu Ming immediately sensed the extraordinary nature of the room.

Yan'er’s voice broke the silence. “The floor is made from Celestial Jade, which enhances cultivation. The futon is woven from iron sprout divine grass—a tool once used by Teacher himself. It helps with focus and greatly accelerates cultivation.”

He gestured to the pearl overhead. “That’s the Morning Dragon Pearl, which alleviates fatigue and sharpens insight.”

Pointing to the incense burners, he continued, “What’s burning is the root of the Dao Sourceflower, a priceless item for cultivation.”

Yan'er swept his hand around the room. “And the formation arrays you can’t see? They were set up by Teacher himself—eighty-one layers in total.”

He paused for a moment before adding, with a hint of envy, “This place can increase your Body Forging Technique cultivation speed by a hundredfold.”

Lu Ming stood in silent awe. He couldn’t help but murmur, “Please thank Teacher on my behalf.”

This was a space fit for Holy Sons and Daughters.

Yan'er chuckled softly. “Teacher holds you in incredibly high regard. In all the time I’ve served him, I’ve never seen him invest this much in a disciple.”

Yan'er’s voice carried admiration. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Teacher so enthusiastic.”

After a bit more conversation, Yan'er tactfully excused himself, leaving Lu Ming alone in the cultivation room.

Lu Ming took a deep breath, sat on the futon, and closed his eyes, entering the Void Space.

Far away, in the capital of the Eternal Clan, Tian Du, Jiu Han found himself at Coldwater Prison. Walking alongside him was Reynolds, the prison warden, as they made their way toward the deepest cells.

When they reached a large iron gate inscribed with dark runes, Reynolds spoke quietly, “Teacher, this is where the prisoner is held.”

Jiu Han nodded. “I’ll be taking him with me. The formalities can be dealt with later. I assume that won’t be a problem?”

Reynolds smiled obsequiously. “Of course not.”

As a Divine Realm expert with numerous disciples and grand disciples, Jiu Han commanded considerable respect. Even without an official position within the Eternal Clan, his reputation rivaled that of its highest-ranking officials.

Reynolds deactivated the array sealing the door, and Jiu Han stepped into the cell.

Faint murmurs drifted from within, though Reynolds couldn’t make out the conversation. After about thirty minutes, Jiu Han emerged from the cell and departed the prison without a word.

Curious, Reynolds looked into the cell, only to find it empty.

Jiu Han returned to the Boshi Tower in under half an hour, arriving just as Lu Ming began his training in the cultivation tower. Ignoring his disciple’s progress, Jiu Han entered an empty room. With a wave of his sleeve, a figure appeared at his feet—a middle-aged man, unconscious.

Jiu Han gazed down at the man and murmured, “Qing Jue, Divine Realm. Former deity of the Qing Clan. Captured 100,000 years ago during the Great Battle of the Gods. Imprisoned ever since.”

He studied the man for a moment before speaking again, his voice calm. “You’ll make an ideal experimental subject.”
