CHAPTER 327: Reminisced and War Situations

“All right, I’ll wait for her,” Lu Ming said with a smile, taking out his smart communicator.

“By the way, Brother Wang, let’s add each other as friends. You go ahead and take the exam, and we can chat after you finish.”

Wang Xiong nodded immediately, also retrieving his smart communicator.

After they exchanged contact information, Wang Xiong turned and made his way to the examination hall. Lu Ming, turning to Jiang Weiquan, said, “Teacher Jiang, please look after him.”

Jiang Weiquan smiled warmly. “Certainly, certainly,” he replied.

As Lu Ming headed back to Boshi Tower, his smart communicator suddenly rang. It was a push notification from Wang Xiong, sending him contact information with the name "Zhang Chengcheng" on it, accompanied by an emoji stifling laughter.

Lu Ming chuckled and sent back a simple, “Thank you.”

Upon arriving at his residence in Boshi Tower, Lu Ming barely had a chance to take a sip of water before the smart communicator rang once again.

At the top of the notification bar was a message:

[Zhang Chengcheng requests to add you as a friend.]

Lu Ming paused, caught slightly off guard. After a brief hesitation, he tapped the notification, accepting the friend request. His communicator made a series of cheerful “ding ding” sounds.

Zhang Chengcheng:
—[Brother Lu?]
—[Is that really you?]
—[Did Wang Xiong push your contact info to me as a joke?]

Zhang Chengcheng’s rapid succession of messages suggested she believed Wang Xiong had been teasing her. Neither side responded immediately after her messages. After a brief pause, Lu Ming finally reacted by initiating a video call. The call was promptly answered.

For the first time in three years, their faces met—albeit through the digital screen.

“Brother Lu?” Zhang Chengcheng’s voice wavered, her eyes clearly moist.

Lu Ming grinned. “Didn’t you recognize me?”

On the other end, Zhang Chengcheng's eyes brimmed with emotion, but before she could respond, several female voices chimed in from the background.

“Brother Lu? Is that Brother Lu? Let me see!”

The camera jolted as Heluo and Ivy squeezed their faces into view on the small screen.

“Me too!” Another face appeared above Heluo and Ivy’s.

It was Wei Lan.

Lu Ming smiled again, “Are all of you together?”

“Yes, we’re all here!” The girls’ chatter was non-stop as they excitedly shared how they had been doing and how they had been looking after Zhang Chengcheng.

After a long, lively conversation, the communicator was returned to Zhang Chengcheng. The voices of the other three girls faded into the background, leaving only Zhang Chengcheng visible on the screen.

Their eyes met again, and after a brief silence, Lu Ming spoke softly, “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Everything is well. How about you?”

“I’m doing well too. I’m currently at Three Elements Academy, apprenticed to Master Jiu Han. In short, all is well.”

"By the way, about the war in Plain Field Province..."

"It hasn’t affected me much, thanks to Heluo. We’ve been stationed in the rear, mostly handling paperwork."

“That’s good to hear.”

In truth, Lu Ming and Zhang Chengcheng were not naturally talkative people. Despite their longing to reconnect after so long, they found few words to exchange. Yet, somehow, their quiet connection felt more than sufficient.

“Chengcheng, you’ve lost weight,” Lu Ming remarked.

“No, I haven’t… But Brother Lu, you’ve grown stronger again.”

“Muscles mean strength—remember, that’s my motto. But can you really see any changes, even though I’m in the Self-Limitation State?”

“Of course! Even the slightest change in you wouldn’t escape my notice.”

The two of them continued chatting, smiles on their faces, about nothing in particular—trivial matters, random updates. Ordinarily, Lu Ming might have considered such idle chatter a waste of time, but at that moment, it brought him an unexpected sense of satisfaction and contentment.

After about forty minutes of conversation, a knock came at Lu Ming’s door. The door opened automatically at his silent command, revealing Yan'er, who bowed slightly.

“Senior Brother, Master has an urgent matter for you,” Yan'er said.

Lu Ming nodded, turning back to Zhang Chengcheng. Before he could say anything, she spoke up.

“Go ahead, Brother Lu. We’ll talk again soon.”

“You can call me anytime,” Lu Ming said with a smile. “I’ll always be free for you.”

After leaving with Yan'er, Lu Ming stepped into the teleportation array. In an instant, he arrived in Jiu Han’s cultivation room.

There, Jiu Han’s clone awaited him. Upon sensing Lu Ming’s presence, the clone turned to face him.

Upon seeing Jiu Han’s face, Lu Ming couldn’t help but frown.

“Teacher, what happened to you...?”

“Oh, this?” Jiu Han raised his hand to touch the dark purple-black mark on his face, resembling a poisonous scar. “It’s a remnant of my encounter with the Corpse God.”

Jiu Han quickly shifted the subject.

“The situation on the Qinghe Province front is worsening. Just last night, the Corpse God appeared on the battlefield. I exchanged two moves with him and sensed something wrong.”

“To address the situation, I must withdraw over half of Boshi Tower’s defensive forces.”

“This will include my clone, most of the Divine Origin within the tower, and even the Tower Spirit that resides here.”

Jiu Han paused momentarily, then asked, “How is your progress with the array formations?”

“My progress has been slow, but I have not been idle,” Lu Ming replied modestly.

Jiu Han nodded in approval. “Good.”

“In short, I am entrusting the core control of Boshi Tower to you. If there is anything unfamiliar to you, you may ask Yan'er for assistance.”

“While I’m away, help me watch over Three Elements Academy. Don’t let anyone steal my home.”

Although Jiu Han spoke with a light-hearted tone, Lu Ming detected a hint of gravity in his words. Taking a deep breath, Lu Ming nodded solemnly. “I won’t disappoint you, Teacher.”

“That’s all... Be cautious. The situation is becoming increasingly troublesome.”

As Jiu Han’s clone gradually faded from sight, a golden light descended, forming a tower-shaped mark on the back of Lu Ming’s hand—the core control array formation of Boshi Tower.

Through this array, Lu Ming could now perceive and control nearly all the functions of Boshi Tower. He also noticed the rapid depletion of Divine Origin energy within the tower, as most of it was transferred to Jiu Han’s primary form. Only a faint trace—approximately one percent of the original amount—remained.

“The Corpse God…” Lu Ming murmured under his breath, narrowing his eyes. It was clear that the Corpse God posed a formidable threat to Jiu Han, forcing him to marshal all available resources.

After a long silence, Lu Ming sighed deeply.

“I hope everyone will remain safe.”
