I suddenly became the villain and I liked it

“This is definitely the final door.”

Red hair and I arrive in front of an ornate door. It is bigger and fancier than the previous doors.

“Yep, but how are we supposed to clear this?”

The sign says, “Join together as one”

“What do you mean, red hair? It seems simple to me.”

“It does? Tell me then.”

“We have sex.”

Red hair blushes as she stutters. Her mouth opens and closes as she does not know what to say. How cute.

She tries to punch me but stops herself in the last moment.

Red hair thinks for a few minutes and she finally looks at me.

A voice within my mind speaks to me. A voice that I cannot remember but comprehend. A voice that guides me to my path. Yes, this is the path I have chosen. There is no need for this weakness. My future is already set, my goal is already set, there is no need for this.

“I suppose you have a passing grade in being worthy of my name. I am Athena Eterna, daughter of duke Eterna.”

I place my wrist on her hand. She looks in confusion.

“You have not gained permission to hold my hand. I shall let you grab my wrist instead.”

She is so accommodating.

“Yes, Lyn.”

I use her name for the first time and Lyn looks shocked.

Lyn grabs my wrist and walks to the door. Surprisingly, the door opens and a bright flash occurs around us. I open my eyes and look around. It is pure white. I am alone. I cannot see Lyn anymore.

“Where am I?”

“Hello, Athena Eterna.”

A voice speaks to me. It was an unusual voice. It was an amalgamation of different voices from varying degrees of age and gender.

“You are still within the formation. We have brought you here to speak to you momentarily. No need to worry about your companion, she is fine.”

“Who is this we?”

“We are vestiges of the creators of this place. We have come to speak with you for the difference of your fates.”

“Our fates?”

“Yes. This place was built to test those whose fates can change the world. Although it is limited in power and can only be accessed by a limited amount of people per time.”

“I see. So, why have I been brought here? If what you say is true, I should not have the right to enter this trial.

“We have allowed you special access for we have glimpsed on a future that even we did not know of. This place is removed from time and space. As such, everything is already known. Your companion’s future is already set. There are multiple ways but the end is already pre-ordained.

I know. I already know all of that.

“However, you were different. You are not qualified to be here. We already know of your end. You are directly against that of which will save the world but a new path has chosen to show itself to us.”

A new path?

“Let me guess, is this the path where I take her hand and defy my destiny?

“Yes. We have seen the future that will happen if you take her hand. It-“

“Stop. I have no desire to know about this future. I have already decided on my path.”

“Are you sure? We believe you already know which path you should take. The path that gives you a chance.”

“No. I reject this new path you speak of. I have no desire for it. Now, let me leave this place.”

“We understand. We wish you luck in your future.”

Why would this place wish me luck? No matter, what I will do does not change. I spread my arms wide and speak to them.

“Remember this, vestiges of the world!”

Right before I disappear, I say.
