Chapter 27.1: Nightmares (SS)

Chapter 27.1: Nightmares (SS)

In the middle of the day, surrounded by countless trees. One petite and dignified girl stood in the middle with sweat all over her body. The atmosphere around her was shrouded by constant spells, encircled by debris and holes in the ground. Trees barely standing to their roots a silent mutter then followed out of the girl’s mouth.

“Wind Burst”

BANG!!!

A scream of trees being shattered to pieces resonated as the girl’s purple eyes glowed in resonance with her fluttering white hair. However, her face was pale followed by shallow breathing. Her left knee then fell to the ground. Continued with a ragged breath she nevertheless tried to chant one spell again. But her eyes were heavy, and her brain was telling her to move but her body couldn’t do so.

“Alice”

A voice of a familiar boy sounded. The white-haired girl’s eyes then slowly turned as the image of Alfonso emerged. “Lord brother…” Alice weakly muttered before she blacked out

…….

Alfonso’s POV

When I saw Alice suddenly collapse, I immediately caught her as I checked her pulse. At that same moment though, my skin felt like there was some shit crawling on me. A little nauseous from touching her, my eyes then narrowed as I contemplated how it came to this. These past few weeks, I’ve been training with Alice. Overall, things were good and at the same time, my progress with my magic ability and my relationship with her improved.

However, Antelmo… That fucking guy… Always looked down on Alice’s progress and even increased the pressure on her. Witnessing this, no wonder Alice also deeply hated Antelmo. Just how much Alice suffered in the game? She was only just a child. My only speculation as to why she became such a strong mage in the game even though she’s a side character was because of Antelmo’s continuous pressure on her to improve. Because of pressuring her, Alice’s reason for the current collapse is due to overworking herself. Fortunately, I’m here to help her with the assistance of Mary.

“…”

Deliberately realizing things, I deeply sighed. Before I and Mary took Alice to some near physician. It didn’t take that long to take Alice to a room for her to rest because of how fast Mary ran as she carried us. The only concerning thing now is that Alice, in the middle of the night seems to be having a nightmare.

“Mama… Papa…”

The little girl muttered while I, who was sitting right beside her on a chair with a book on my thigh, pitifully watched her. As I’m reminded of my past self. However, I quickly shook my head as I tried to analyze her nightmare. Alice is probably grieving and misses her parents a lot. Especially when she saw her father commit suicide… Without being given time to grief, she distracted herself to improve her ability to prove something to Antelmo as a way for her to vent her grief. With that thought in mind, I then dragged the wooden chair closer as I removed my white gloves.

With that, my left hand slowly approached Alice’s hand and Alice quickly gripped mine. My right hand then patted her head followed by a whisper, “It’s alright now…” While doing these though, I felt my stomach knot, my head fuzzy as I felt like I’m going to vomit out of disgust. But… This time… It was manageable. No, I rather tried to endure it just to comfort Alice.

“Please don’t sell me…”

The little girl muttered in her dreams while her hands tightly gripped the warmth of my hand. As her uneasy face slowly turned peaceful. Soon after, I patted her head once again and this time a faint smile appeared on her face. However, my heart began to race as I felt my disgust pace. Knowing that if I removed my hands, Alice would probably go back into her nightmares again. So… I endured the nauseating feeling.

“…”

‹I think I could last for probably 15 minutes…›

I inwardly muttered and distracted myself with my thoughts

Just as I drowned myself in thinking, only after I realized that I fell asleep when I felt Alice wake me up from her movements. My hand that was touching her hand then immediately moved as quickly as I stood up.

“!!!”

The chair that I was sitting on was then sent backwards. With brief frazzled eyes, my sophisticated face quickly returned.

“You’re awake…”

I said as silence followed. “I’ll be going now there’s no more reason for me to stay here” I continued before I turned my back to Alice and started walking. But as my steps echoed, “Thank you…” Alice said, however, I didn’t respond to her anymore and just quickly opened the door.

The nauseating feeling of wanting to clean my hands was eating me up that’s why I had no time to even react to her thanks.

‹Fuck!!!›

I inwardly cursed. Little did I know… The girl who I left behind was left staring at my back and in deep thought.
