Infinity in the Void – Freedom in the Abyss

Records

Sul smiled in amusement, using their power they spotted the one they were looking for.

Through the eyes of the bricks, the paints, the road, and even more, they saw Charlotte running around through what can be described as a maze, created by the ever-growing city.

"Interesting, is it good that we meet our target so soon?", Sul chuckled.

"Akasha has yet to develop fully. Should you not wait further?", Olivia asked.

"No, I don't think I will. The appearance of the Records of Human also indicates the resurrection of the other Records."

Olivia frowned, "What do you mean by that?"

Sul lay on the car seat, putting their head onto Olivia's thighs. Much to the annoyance of the woman.

"You know, this isn't exactly what I imagined when we made our deal.", she said with a frown, but she still caressed their face like her own children.

"Heh, we are alone, are we not?"

"Answer my question, will you?", Olivia grumbled.

"Of course, of course. The Akashic Records is the name of the Records of Human, but it's not the only Record. When one Records shows up, the rest will follow soon."

In their hand appeared a statue of a beast, bearing the body of a tiger, the hind legs of a wolf, the paws of a bear, the wings of an eagle, the Maine of a lion, the eyes of an owl, and many more different animals.

"The Records of Beast contained the power of the entire animal kingdom. What they represent and what they are capable of."

"Does it contain humans?", Olivia asked.

"Fortunately no, humans are too far removed to be considered animal."

Sul continued, changing the statue into a different form. An amalgamation of plant, water, fire, wind, and earth.

"The Records of Nature, holding the ability to control and manipulate the natural elements. Though iron and many other meteoric metals are not in this category."

Olivia nodded, signaling them to continue. The statue changed again, this time into the shape of a star.

"And finally, the Records of Cosmo. I am sure you know very well what it can do."

"Create gods...", Olivia spoke in a low voice.

Sul shook their head, "By combining the natural forces, it can give sapience and power to concepts."

Sul gets up from the lap pillow, "Like Akasha, they all have a general name. For the Records of Beast is Pan, the Pannic Records. Nature is Shar, the Sharic Records. And for Cosmo, Chaos, the Chaotic Records."

"So what are you going to do, Sul?"

"I will meet her and warn her about the future. If only she doesn't run away from me.", Sul tapped his finger on Olivia's thigh, "Can you track her down?"

"Only if I have her smell.", Olivia sighed, "And I won't be going around sniffing her stuff. Not with the strongests of Hell there."

"Lucifer and Zagreus? Hm... they might be a problem.", with a tired sigh, Olivia stood up, "Alright, I'll do something about it."

"For the fate of the world?", Sul asked with a smile.

"For the fate of the world...", Olivia rolled her eyes.

"Heheh, might as well stretch sometimes.", Sul shrugged.

They looked over to the driver's seat, where a burly man carefully maneuvered around the chaotic street of Las Vegas.

"Vulcan, find a place to drop off Olivia.", Sul commanded.

Vulcan nodded without replying, he drove for a couple more minutes. He parked the car at an empty parking lot, a strange site in this City of Sin.

Once the engine stopped, Olivia walked out of the door, leaving her tablet in the car. She stretched a bit before her eyes glowed a dangerous golden color.

And she was gone, followed by a strong gust of wind blowing the papers and knocking over trash cans.

"Haha, she is strong.", Sul laughed, turning to their drive, "Don't you think so, big guy?"

Vulcan grunted in agreement.

"That's the spirit!"

Something is coming close.

Charlotte kept running, while also taking the scenery around her. She got out of the maze-like alleyway a long time around, now on a street with vibrant colors.

This street was brighter and more lively. Lively as in there is a robbery happening, beside a car chasing that Charlotte saw before still happening. People move away from the crimes by just a bit and continue on their way enjoying the City of Sin.

Charlotte noticed something about the people here. They smelled like a human, but also not human, there were smells of oil, metal, and other non-organics.

What is it that made these humans so different than normal? They have no Gem, no supernatural ability.

They are augmented humans, my dear.

Euphoria's calm and charming voice broke the ice for Charlotte.

Augmented?

They have limbs, and organs, replaced by machinery to make daily life easier, or to enjoy the fun a little more.

Is... it painful?

Of course, pain is a part of the process. Fufu, but what a day of pain compared to a lifetime of euphoria?

Why... would someone willingly do that? The trade-off is... good, but doesn't it introduce new problems?

Fufu, humans are not ones to think about the future, only the present. Your kind thinks more about what to do next, rather than what to prepare, my dear.

Charlotte could not think about replacing her body with metal and fueling it with oil. It made Charlotte uncomfortable. The only things with metal in Charlotte's possession are her phone, some metal bits on her sports shoes, and her knife. Everything else is all organic.

Then again, is Reverie organic?

100% semi-tangible unknown substance! Organic and nonorganic included!

Where did the Reverie goo come from?

Goo?! You are calling my precious manifestation goo?! How rude, I would like to officially call my black, inky, abyssal mess of creativity 'sludge'~!

Why is naming it correctly so... important?

Because it is~! Do you know how many things would've gone right if people just called things correctly?

I see... I'll still call it goo.

Damn you, Charlotte Silvi, damn you, my owner.

Charlotte took back control from her auto-pilot mode, trying to find someplace to hide, to get rid of the feeling of being watched. But the more she is exposed to the constant gaze, the more Survive pieces together how this scrying ability works.

Everything was watching Charlotte, the bricks, the pavement, the neon signs, even the people, everything was watching her.

"Dammit.", Charlotte muttered.

Who was this unknown seer? Charlotte has no idea. She let Survive control her body, making expert-level movements, and dodging the people with the most efficient steps humans could make.

Running through her memory, recalling everyone she saw and met today. The people she annoyed, were the homeless, Storm, Autumn, and... Sul Umor.

Sul Umor said they found something interesting.

Charlotte took back control and made a left turn to an alleyway. With the Reverie goo covering her hands, Charlotte used her momentum to just from one wall towards the other, using Reverie to give her some more time to plan her next jump to the other one.

Jumping from side to side, Charlotte eventually made it up to the rooftop of an apartment. This one was one of the higher ones, but its height was still no match for the hotels and casinos in the distance.

Hm?

Charlotte spotted something in the distance, the direction of the Illumination Hotel. What could be described as a gate of Hell, letting out a horde of astral demons - demons with a translucent tint to them - going around everywhere.

"Silla...", Charlotte muttered in disappointment. She has not had her fun yet.

Might as well make good of the situation...

Taking a deep breath, Charlotte sent out her hostility against the demons. They are only projections, they are bounded by Silla. But their chains are a bit long, they can attack and kill anyone provoking them.

And Charlotte provoked every last one of them.

Hundreds of demons came flying at Charlotte. That did not scare Charlotte at all, because she had to Survive with her, all knowledge of humanity's survival skills, and some of those skills happened to be related to demon hunting.

Information about demons came to Charlotte like breathing. How to defend against them, how to defeat them.

All Charlotte needed was their True Name. And their True Names were written on their body, in the Primordial Tongue. Survive's translation ability was perfect for this.

"Ixor.", a demon vanished.

"Belis", another one followed.

"Carle" "Rom" "Rreu" "Frark" "Jue" "Latyx" "Laplus" "Kenra" "Shiri" "Hena" "Darm" "Yxa" "Thern" "Fewa" "Dimo" "Lexa"

One by one, the demons are banished to whatever realm they came from. Still, even bashing them is not enough because of their sheer number.

The only way to fight the demons was by sheer brute force. Fight. Charlotte likes that word. Nothing is more human than fighting, combat is the rawest form of entertainment after all.

Fufu, quite the battle junkie. Good, I will give you one part of my power.
