Mark of the Multiversal Pretender

Ch. 72 – The Daredevil and the Sentinel!

Not knowing that a certain someone is following him, Leo successfully arrived at the gates of the Duke's manor.

"You! This is the Duke's property! Unless you have permission, please step out." Being noticed by one of the guard knights, the said person kindly shooed him away.

"Don't you hear what I just said? I said, this is th- kukh!" After seeing the unmoving figure of Leo, the guard turned slightly hostile and was about to push him away when Leo suddenly made a move.

With a swift strike, the guard was knocked out of his consciousness, falling down on the ground like a puppet that had its strings cut.

Quietly stowing the unconscious body away from the public eye.

Once that's settled, Leo started to spread his senses all around the manor, quickly marking everyone's position inside.

'This Duke is really cautious. Having around almost 50 guard knights all around his Manor, it's as if he's preparing to go to war, which is unlikely as the last war between kingdoms was almost 100 years ago according to the world's history.'

After finding a blind spot after memorizing the guard's patrolling pattern, Leo successfully sneaked inside.

***

"Who is that. Why is he entering Uncle Neil's manor?" After arriving and witnessing Leo swiftly and smoothly knocking out the guard, Elsa knew that Leo was up to no good, especially after seeing his weird get up like who in their right mind would wear an all red suit in the middle of the night.

As the protector of Arendelle, she must keep watch on this unknown person in weird get up and if he proves to be hostile to the innocents, she would use her powers to stop him!

Vowing to stop the man in red tights, what Elsa didn't know that the man she vowed to stop was the man who saved her parents and also inspired her to become a hero of Arendelle.

***

"Andddd I'm in, just like Lupin." Smirking to himself, Leo whispered in victory.

*Step!*

Hearing the footsteps of the guard who patrols around here, Leo's figure slowly mixed in with the dark.

Right as the guard turned in the corner and passed by the dark spot, a pair of hands suddenly found themselves in his mouth and before he could voice out his surprise, he was taking in along in the dark.

A few seconds later, Leo stepped out of the dark.

'I've always wanted to do that. I feel awesome.' Leo smiled to himself, before proceeding to walk towards his next target.

His goal for now is to knock out or eliminate all the guards around the manor, leaving him alone with the Duke.

As for what he's gonna do to the Duke? Only time will tell, perhaps he'll know what to do after gathering the necessary evidence against him

***

In the Duke's room, the Duke can be seen writing a mail on his table.

The contents of course contain the plan that he'll submit to the bandit leader. A plan of how they'll secretly enter the walls of Arendelle under the guise of guests from a nearby town.

The Duke has already sent the weapons that he bought from the Fisk Industries or more specifically the underworld side of Fisk Industries to the bandits and he's sure that the bandits definitely liked them. After all, he himself tested the famous Colt gun and felt like he's invincible, especially its unique property of it's bullet capable of piercing through the metal armor of a knight.

After ending the mail with an introduction of his name, the Duke rolled the paper and stored them in a small container.

*Whistle*

Whistling, a pigeon flew towards his messy table and landed.

"Deliver this to Argon, now go." Attaching the small container on the pigeon's legs, he then grabbed the pigeon and opened the window.

Watching the pigeon fly outside, the Duke smiled to himself.

Finally, the success of his plan is nearing.

All it takes now is time and patience.

***

Oblivious to the happening, Leo only sensed a bird flying out of the Manor's vicinity and ignored this, assuming that it is just a normal bird looking for its natural habitat.

So far, his progress of knocking out guards has been noticed by several guards, courtesy of his sharp senses sensing them getting agitated and started looking around the manor, breaking down their supposed patrolling.

'They're gonna warn the Duke. I gotta hurry up.' Sensing a guard rushing towards the Duke's room, Leo decided to skip all the guards and directly go to the Duke.

He can take care of all the guards once the Duke is knocked out. After all, it'd be quite troublesome if the Duke somehow ran away or called for help outside the manor premises.

Without making a sound, Leo disappeared in his place. His fast speeds quickly take him to the fourth floor of the manor, where the Duke's office resides.

He even surpassed the guard that was supposed to alarm the Duke of the happenings in the manor.

Of course Leo knocked him out on his way since passing through him, he might as well have let him join the others.

It didn't take long before Leo found himself in front of the Duke's office, two guards were quickly alarmed by his sudden appearance however before they could respond and unsheathe their swords, Leo's hands had swiftly knocked them out of their consciousness.

***

*Thud!* x2

"Huh? What's going on out there!?" Hearing the sound of metal falling on the floor just outside his office, the Duke, Neil, who was busy double checking his plan and making sure there are no holes that would bite his ass, turned cautious.

After hearing no response, Neil already knew that something was wrong. He's not an idiot. He has also heard of the so-called Daredevil that hunts corrupted nobles like him.

After all, the King, Agnarr himself announced the true faces of those nobles himself this morning. A Duke like himself would obviously grow cautious by that news. He himself is corrupt, he knows that, so the chances of him being on the target list is very high.

Opening the drawer to his table, Neil immediately grabbed the Colt handgun that he bought from the Legendary Kingpin himself in exchange for gold.

After making sure that the handgun is loaded as per the instructions manual that came in with the handgun, Neil then pointed the barrel of the gun towards the door, waiting until someone entered through the door.

"Come in." Neil shouted, pretending to be oblivious.

*Door creaking!*

Seeing the door slowly opening, Neil tightened his grip on his handgun and prepared himself to pull the trigger.

Once the door fully opens and he saw the face of his personal guard, Neil sighed in relief and brought his arm down.

"It's just you, Bax. Why didn't you speak when I called ou-." That's when Neil made his mistake as he didn't manage to finish his sentence when Bax's body slowly fell forward, revealing the figure in a red tight suit behind him, holding what seems to be a red cane.

When the Duke of Arendelle finally realized this, it was already too late as the Daredevil had rushed towards him and knocked the Colt gun from his hand using the cane.

*Slap!*

"What-!?" Shocked by the sudden turn of events, Neil was about to react when he felt a pain in his neck and his vision turned dark.

***

"I'll settle with you later after I deal with all of your guards." Leo muttered to himself before leaving the room after tying the Duke with a rope on his chair.

He then used the stairs to reach down back towards the ground.

For each floor he passes by, he cleared every single guard, like a death reaper that caused nothing but death on his wake.

Of course not everyone is killed. Only those he deemed worthy of killing. After all, his Life Sensor skill can also differentiate someone with heavy sins to those with small sins.

It's a feature that he only discovered when he first entered the Underworld as Kingpin, realizing that the people he encountered there had huge blackness in their life energies.

***

After finally reaching the ground and knocking out all of the remaining guards, he spread his senses and realized that there is now another life force in the Duke's office besides the Duke himself.

What confuses him however was the fact that this new arrival of life force was similar to Elsa's life force, it's as if they're the same person.

'But how could she be here? There's no way Elsa could go outside at night considering how dangerous she is, not to mention she could even sneak past me. Though I think I was just too immersed in what I was doing but nonetheless, either that's Elsa or I was wrong and people could have the same life force.'

Deciding to find the answer himself, Leo used the Thunder God mark he placed on the Duke's office to directly teleport inside, possibly to surprise the new guest.

***

After making sure that the Duke is just unconscious and is alive, Elsa sighed in relief and was about to untie Neil when a voice suddenly heard from her behind.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Widening her eyes in shock, Elsa quickly turned around and blasted the area with her ice magic, intending to freeze the source of the voice.

Meanwhile, behind her, Leo's eyes widened in surprise. Not because of Elsa's sudden attack but because it was indeed Elsa herself!

Just how much did he fucked up the entire timeline that even Elsa turned into some kind of weird lady in a robe with a mask roaming at night!?

Perhaps he shouldn't have saved her parents in the first place?
