Perfect World: Dream of the Immortal Era

Chapter 80: Ascending the Celestial Mountain

Wang Heng snapped back to his senses, trailing behind Immortal King Wuzhong along with the Black King. In the blink of an eye, they swept past the grand city gates.

The ground was a grayish-brown stone, and the road stretched endlessly.

This was one of the immortal realm's strongholds, a mighty pass linking the immortal realm with the outside world. Even the city gate passage seemed unfathomable. A mortal attempting to walk through would likely spend a lifetime without reaching the end.

However, in the eyes of an Immortal King, it was merely a step away.

The grand bell tolled slowly, cleansing through time, announcing the return of a supreme existence to this vast world.

The celestial beings guarding Mixingtian Gate dared not show disrespect, all arriving in advance at the end of the city gate road to welcome Immortal King Wuzhong's arrival.

“Welcome, Lord Wuzhong,” they respectfully intoned, veiled in immortal light.

The name "Wuzhong" carried immense weight even among the oldest and most powerful factions of the immortal realm. No one dared neglect or offend him, for even in the immortal realm, known as the "Hometown of Immortals" and teeming with supreme beings, Immortal King Wuzhong reigned supreme, overlooking all. He was a genuine colossus.

This "colossus" was unlike those titled "colossus." While kings like the Pan King or Ao Sheng were revered for their dominion over the immortal realm for countless ages, Immortal King status, in reality, remained distant.

But Wuzhong had crossed into that level of the Immortal King colossus. Even in the vast immortal realm, such colossi were few, each a taboo-like supreme being, held in the utmost reverence.

Thus, the celestial beings guarding Mixingtian Gate were exceedingly respectful, voicing no complaints.

Wuzhong lightly nodded, acknowledging their presence. His gaze alone made all the celestials bow, none daring to meet his eyes.

The Black King, however, walked behind Wuzhong with head held high, looking down on the bowing True Immortals with an arrogant gaze, as if they were there to welcome him.

Wang Heng remained silent but thought of a saying, refraining from speaking it out loud.

Though he hadn't known the Black King long and the original text had little description of him, Wang Heng had an instinctive sense that this great black dog must be quite sensitive to any idioms related to "dogs."

Before long, Immortal King Wuzhong, along with the Black King and Wang Heng, left Mixingtian Gate, journeying deeper into the magnificent world of the immortal realm.

At the end of the path leading through the Mixingtian Gate, a gathering of celestial beings watched as two figures and a black dog departed. Once they were sure the group had gone, the True Immortals began to discuss amongst themselves.

“Lord Wuzhong typically travels with only his black dog, but this time he’s brought along a young man with exceptional talent. Could this youth be his descendant?”

“Unlikely," another replied. "This young man’s aptitude is extraordinary, surpassing even the heirs of Immortal Kings in every aspect, especially in divine spirit capabilities. If my suspicions are correct, he is likely the progeny of the Immortal King who wielded the Spirit Sword Technique to slay the Undying King in the Primeval Imperial City.” A well-informed True Immortal voiced the identity of Wang Heng.

Although Wang Heng had never visited the Immortal Domain nor roamed its lands, to its cultivators, he was a stranger in appearance.

“A Wang family Immortal King, you say? Once deemed a forsaken child from the Immortal Domain's Wang family, it was thought his path to greatness was hopeless. Yet, he defied fate, overcoming formidable adversaries and emerging from that era as a mighty Immortal King.

Due to past grievances, he refused to return to the Wang family in the Immortal Domain and established his own sect in the Primeval Ancient Realm. What a pity that such a brilliant and powerful figure did not remain in the Immortal Domain. His presence would have further strengthened our domain,” lamented another True Immortal.

“Considering he is indeed the child of the Wang family’s Immortal King, possessing such potent divine spirit power is understandable. However, what is his purpose in visiting the Immortal Domain? Could he be searching for a worthy challenger?

The Immortal Domain is vast and has no shortage of prodigies. The long-standing Immortal King families, the secretive and taboo clans, and the ancient sects—all these have dominated the Immortal Domain’s top ten for ages.

When these ten beings appear, they shake the world. Who can oppose them? Even the progeny of the Wang family Immortal King from the Primeval Ancient Realm would likely find it hard to prevail against them,” proclaimed a True Immortal with confidence in the Immortal Domain’s ten mythical beings.

These ten beings aren’t simply the top ten geniuses within a single realm but are scattered throughout all realms of humanity. They are acknowledged as the ten strongest beings in the Immortal Domain and are considered the most likely to become Immortal Kings in this era. The selection of the Immortal Domain’s top ten is based on entire epochs, and the replacement of one among these ten always stirs great waves within the Immortal Domain.

The ten are like ten suns eternally shining above the broad land of the Immortal Domain, dazzling and unreachable, earning the intense devotion of this True Immortal.

“Indeed, even the descendants of Immortal Kings struggle to enter the Immortal Domain’s top ten. They embody the pinnacle of human endeavor. Replacing one of them is not easy for the Wang family Immortal King’s progeny.

However, the youth’s divine spirit is certainly extraordinary, a rarity through the ages. At least at his age, there is none to compare, even across the vast expanse of our history, unless there is an Immortal King reborn in a borrowed body.”

The celestials continued to chat among themselves but did not take this matter too seriously, believing Wang Heng’s chance of breaching the Immortal Domain’s top ten was slim to none.

Regarding how Wang Heng entered the Immortal Domain without following the standard procedures, none mentioned it. Generally, entering the Immortal Domain requires a check for any dark matter within, followed by complete purification to confirm it wouldn’t pollute the domain before being granted passage.

Wang Heng traveled with the Wuzhong Immortal King, bypassing routine checks. The True Immortals wisely refrained from challenging him, as it would insult the Immortal King himself.

Deep within the Immortal Domain, Wuzhong, the Black King, and Wang Heng were unaware of the discussions amongst the True Immortals. They sped through the glorious lands of the Immortal Domain, traversing one vast universe after another. During this journey, Wang Heng caught sight of several colossal Immortal Cities, grand and boundless, suspended in deep space. In comparison, stars seemed like mere dust.

He knew these were cities where the True Immortals resided. Each city governed a different universe; where there were True Immortals, there was a universe they ruled. Naturally, some lands remained unclaimed.

The Immortal Domain was vast, a result of countless original domains merging together over time, forming its current state.

Its sheer size was so overwhelming that even an Immortal King could not reach its edges. There were mysterious uninhabited zones where even powerful Immortal Kings dared not tread—once, beings of their magnitude vanished there without a trace.

As Wang Heng traveled, he was dazzled by the spectacle, recognizing that the Immortal Domain surpassed the Primal Ancient World in size. Both shared a common origin, perhaps with a linked past, but eventually, they diverged onto different paths.

One absorbed the universes, drawing in strong individuals; the other became the eternal Thirty-Three Heavens. Maybe that's where their differences began.

“We are near, Hunyuan Immortal King's residence,” murmured the Black King, gazing into the dark expanse of space ahead.

Wang Heng looked forward as well.

Suddenly, a tiny point of light appeared in the dark cosmos, swiftly expanding until it stretched beyond sight.

This was due to the Immortal King's incredible speed, which made it hard for the eyes to keep up. Even though the Wuzhong Immortal King intentionally slowed down, otherwise, Wang Heng could not have seen any of the True Immortal Cities along the way.

The Black King remained composed, clearly accustomed to such displays of Immortal Cities.

As the son of an Immortal King, Wang Heng was similarly unfazed, his family's manor no lesser than Hunyuan City.

Still, Wang Heng marveled quietly at the enormity of such a structure.

Suspended in deep space, it appeared as the center of the universe itself, with endless stars orbiting Hunyuan City. Even the sun and moon seemed like mere fireflies, mere embellishments before the immense city.

Additionally, it exuded an overwhelming aura of invincibility and eternal endurance, like a titan gazing across the ages, forever enduring.

Black King pointed to a towering peak rising above the city of Hunyuan.

Wang Heng looked in the direction he indicated and saw an awe-inspiring mountain, wreathed in ethereal mist, exuding an aura of supreme, immortal presence as if a colossal being were gazing down upon the world. The extraordinary majesty was unforgettable, leaving a deep impression on him.

“What mountain is this? It's so magnificent.” He was astonished, sensing that this mountain was not as simple as it seemed on the surface. At the very least, its height might be folded, or his sight was interfered with, such that what he saw was not truly the ancient peak.

The Black King was pleased with his reaction and explained with a smile, "This is the Heavenly Mountain, said to have fallen from the heavens, boundless in its wonder. It is now the retreat of the Hunyuan Immortal King."

“The Heavenly Mountain!” Wang Heng murmured to himself.

“Yes, and it's also our next destination,” Black King nodded.

With that, the Wuzhong Immortal King moved again, leading Black King and Wang Heng down into Hunyuan City.

As the giants descended, their supreme aura spread, prompting gasps of astonishment from the inhabitants of Hunyuan City.

Meanwhile, atop the lofty Heavenly Mountain in Hunyuan City, a majestic presence opened their eyes abruptly.

“The Wuzhong.”

……

In an alien realm, within a dense forest, a youth clad in dark beast hides emerged slowly. His hair was long and unkempt, several glowing bones hung around his waist, and he wielded a white bone cudgel upon his shoulder, appearing like a primitive man.

He was none other than Geng Jin, newly arrived in the alien realm.

Through an abandoned inter-realm passage, he managed to enter the alien realm undetected. With the help of Wang Gen's incarnation, he converted all order chains and Dao rules within his body to align with those of this realm, fully assimilating.

Thereafter, Wang Gen's incarnation dissipated on its own, leaving Geng Jin to journey alone, intending to approach a small tribe or community to learn the language and customs of this world.

Unbeknownst to him, the abandoned passage was extremely remote, and he ventured for a long time before emerging from the dense forest.

During his travels, ferocious beasts and predators within the forest occasionally launched stealthy attacks, attempting to devour him as a meal for their hunger.

Although Geng Jin has yet to embark on the path of cultivation and possesses no magical powers, his physical body is terrifyingly strong. From the outset, his foundation was extraordinarily gifted. Later, it was baptized in the true blood of dragon and phoenix beings of the Immortal King level, receiving immense blessings. Even without cultivation, he could single-handedly break through all barriers, his sheer physical prowess could dominate in all directions.

It's important to note that this wasn't ordinary Immortal King blood, but rather the extremely precious essence blood of Immortal Kings. Such blood is of great importance to an Immortal King, rarely given away. It was only because the dark curse within him was extraordinarily terrifying that the true dragon and phoenix would sacrifice their essence blood to dissolve his imminent catastrophe.

In short, Geng Jin is not an ordinary human without the strength to truss a chicken. Relying solely on the strength of his body, he has subdued all the fierce beasts that ambushed him along the way, many of which possessed cultivation.

Naturally, he gladly accepted the treasure bones within them and deliberately crafted a primitive outfit for himself. In time, this could help to disguise the fact that he doesn’t comprehend the ancient language of this alien domain.

Exiting the lush forest, Geng Jin orientated himself, seeking out a river, and began to follow it downstream.

Generally speaking, tribes and communities tend to gather by the water. Whether in the mortal civilizations of his past life or among the god and demon civilizations, rivers hold an irreplaceable significance.

Of course, the river Wang Heng discovered was unlike those in mortal civilizations. Here, the river water essentially contained spiritual essence, nourishing the land. Countless ancient herbs grew along its banks. Although they weren’t very old, the variety was remarkably diverse.

With ancient herbs flourishing, it was natural for living creatures to dwell there, and consequently, tribes and communities followed suit.

As expected, it wasn't long before Geng Jin discovered remnants left by tribes or communities—stone jars for concocting medicine, metal cauldrons, and tools engraved with peculiar symbols scattered about.

This proved that Geng Jin was not far from those tribes.

He continued his journey, moving downstream, and two days later, Geng Jin observed several small boats on the river. Creatures dressed in primitive clothing stood upright upon these boats, encircling and attempting to capture a specific river-dwelling creature.

Geng Jin initially intended to approach them and attempt communication, but after a few steps, he halted.

These beings were not human, though they were humanoid—they possessed four arms, bronze-colored skin, and a third eye on their forehead, resembling a race of demons.

Furthermore, these creatures radiated an ominous aura, indicative of accumulated killings.

Geng Jin frowned. Was it truly suitable to engage with such a fierce tribe to learn the ancient language and culture?

After hesitating, he decided to continue onward a little further.

Ultimately, all the tribes he encountered possessed humanoid forms but were not humans, showcasing distinct characteristics of alien races.

"The alien realm is not the native land of the human race. While I can conceal my bloodline within this body, I cannot change my inherent nature. Interacting with them as a member of the human race would surely lead to problems.

"

"However," he mused to himself, "the alien races revere strength. As long as one is powerful enough, their lineage isn't an obstacle, much like Mo Dao and his sister." Hengjin decided to stop searching and immediately approached an alien tribe to see how matters unfolded.
