Pirates: Check In From Mariejo

Chapter 103 The Wonderful Use Of Observation Haki

"Master Levi, are you mistaken? His name is Hody Jones. He is our guard. He is not an enemy." Neptune was still kept in the dark by Hody Jones and was still speaking highly of him.

"Idiot! This man is an absolute racist, and he was one of the perpetrators who assassinated Princess Otohime alongside Daken IX. Do you truly believe that these events were mere coincidences? The fishman guards were assassinated just after they left Princess Otohime," Levi scolded Neptune.

"How do you know this?" Although Jinbei's tone was very polite, Levi could sense his disbelief.

"My Observation Haki informed me. Regardless of what he conceals in his mind, he cannot evade my Observation Haki," Levi's words immediately stunned everyone.

"I never imagined you could perceive others' inner thoughts as clearly as the princess," Jinbei marveled at Levi's prowess. He had heard rumors above the sea that Observation Haki had reached the pinnacle of mastery, allowing one not only to glimpse into others' minds but also to hear the voices of all things.

"So it's in the coral forest!" Levi chuckled.

"You, you're such a monster!" Hody Jones exclaimed in shock. He was just a frog in the well on Fish-Men Island and had never heard of Levi's incredible abilities.

"Jones, the princess showed you kindness. Why would you want to assassinate her?"

At this moment, Jinbei was furious. This was his younger brother. Though he admired Arlong greatly, Jinbei believed in his inherent goodness. He never anticipated that he would commit the foolish act of assassinating the princess alongside an outsider.

"I failed you, Princess Otohime!" Jinbei lay on the ground, tears streaming down his face. He finally understood what Levi meant when he departed last time, but it was too late.

"I'll apprehend the princess's murderer first. Just wait for me." After Levi finished speaking, he prepared to capture Daken IX.

"Mr. Levi, wait for me. I wish to cleanse the shame from Fish-Men Island with my own hands. I implore Levi to grant me a chance," Jinbei bowed deeply to Levi.

"Very well, let's go together."

Levi and Jinbei ventured into the coral jungle. The corals here were incredibly dense and large. It was no wonder Daken IX chose to hide here.

"Mr. Levi, this place is vast. How shall we locate him?"

Jinbei was also perplexed. This coral forest had existed for countless years since Fish-Men Island's inception. Now, it was several times larger than Fish-Men Island itself. Many couples rendezvoused here, and numerous villains concealed themselves here as well.

Levi extended his Observation Haki, and in an instant, he located Daken IX.

"I've found him, follow me!"

Levi led Jinbei through the coral jungle.

"Boss, we've assassinated Princess Otohime, and now Fish-Men Island is under siege. What should we do?" The expressions of Daken IX's ten younger brothers were filled with concern.

"Fret not, we have an insider among the fish people. If anything happens, we'll be informed. Furthermore, I've uncovered a great secret. I fear the entire fish people won't have a chance to trouble us," Daken IX laughed maniacally.

Daken IX's full name was Van der Daken IX, captain of the Flying Dutchman pirates. He wore a small hat, sported curly hair, and adorned himself with many necklaces. Most notably, he had four legs.

"What have you done, boss?" one of his men inquired.

"After I assassinated the princess, I even laid hands on the mermaid princess. That girl named Shirahoshi has a significant background!" Daken IX laughed again.

"Perhaps you won't have that opportunity!" A deep voice suddenly resonated in his ear.

"Who are you? How dare you intrude upon our Flying Dutchman Pirates. Do you truly not fear death?" one of Daken IX's younger brothers exclaimed.

"Idiot, that's Fish-Men tribe's boss Jinbei!" A nearby pirate slapped the foolish green pirate hard on the head.

"Five thousand Wa Zheng Fist!"

Jinbei dispatched the pirates mercilessly, and in moments, the entire pirate group was sent flying.

Jinbei was truly the fishmen's foremost master. None in this pirate group could withstand even a single blow from him, and even Hiashi was rendered unconscious by him...

"Is this the man who assassinated the princess and sent a love letter to my daughter?" Neptune looked upon him with disdain.

"Yes, this man is a Paramecia Devil Fruit user. If touched by his hand, no matter where one is in the world, they cannot escape the user's attack," Levi briefly explained to them the function of the target fruit.

Presently, Daken IX had only reached the stage of sending love letters and had not progressed to using weapons to coerce Shirahoshi into the Hard-Shell Tower.

"Jones, what have you to say now?" Neptune shouted loudly at the bound Hody Jones.

"Why? As far back as I can remember, humans have slaughtered us fishmen and sold us as slaves. We're also members of the World Government. Why must we pay tribute every year while the government turns a blind eye to us?" Hody Jones questioned Neptune angrily, leaving Neptune speechless.

"We're also a member country of the World Government. Why do we, the fish people, suffer discrimination from humans wherever we go? The most absurd thing is that we're a member country, yet now we require Whitebeard's protection. We're a bona fide member of the World Government. Our country now relies on pirates for protection. Isn't this a colossal irony?" Hody Jones laughed bitterly.

"Jones, do you comprehend what you're saying?" Jinbei interjected. "Because of your prejudice, you murdered Princess Otohime. What wrong had she done!"

"Until she perishes, the fishmen will forever harbor illusions. Brother Tiger is a case in point. He nobly saved those human slaves. In the end, it was not those humans who betrayed Brother Tiger, but rather he'd prefer death over conceding to humans. Despicable," Hody Jones sneered.

"The fish people can rely solely on themselves and human mercy to strive for so-called equality. That, truly, is a colossal irony!"

Hody Jones' words silenced all the fishmen.

Levi sighed and departed from the fishmen's palace. Now, it was the fishmen's family affairs, and he could no longer interfere.
