Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 114: Growing Golems Pt1

Shelli let me carry her as we flew back to the island where the Crystal Cavern was. During the trip, I explained everything about Daryle.

"I guess it is for the best that he goes, but wouldn't it have been better if he stayed and trained with you first?" Shelli asked as we sat down in front of the cave, but I shrugged.

"While I do agree with you, Daryle needs to figure his class out first. The whole point of him taking Misty's virginity was to give me more time to train. What I never expected was Daryle to have to start all over again," I sighed, and Shelli patted my shoulder.

"I am sure that you will be able to figure this out," Shelli said with a smile and I nodded, opening my inventory.

"We will see. I created some golems last night, so I am curious to see how they do in battle. I fought alone yesterday and was able to make it to the 6th cave. today I would like to be able to complete it," I explained, and tried to bring out my first golem, Alexia, but I got a message.

[Requires Soul]

Frowning at this, I looked through my menu until I found my Soul Inventory, but there was nothing in it.

"This is slightly frustrating," I growled, and Shelli touched my arm.

"What's wrong?" Shelli asked, and I pointed to my empty Soul Inventory.

"I need souls to make the golems work," I sighed, but Shelli smiled.

"Why don't you ask Ashagan?" She asked, and I smiled. I hadn't thought of that.

'Ashagan?'

The shadow form of a cat appeared and looked up at me with defiance. "I refuse!"

The cat and I stared at each other for a long moment before I let out a long sigh, and pinched the bridge of my nose.

"And why is it that you refuse?" I asked, trying to let my annoyance tinge my voice, but it was hard.

"They are tiny bodies, really a joke, and you expect me to inhabit one of them?" Ashagan demanded, and I nodded.

"Yes, two of them are epic rated, and then the other is a Unique Rare. I would think that you would want to get out of me and try out a new body, no matter the size," I explained, but the cat shook her head.

"I would be a useless soul inside of them anyway. Don't you know anything about Soul Resonance? None of those dolls you call golems have any of my skills, so I wouldn't even know how to use them," Ashagan explained, and I nodded.

"I have a skill that makes every soul I bind have perfect resonance, so that isn't a problem, but I guess your soul is different from a monster's soul?" I asked, and the cat nodded.

"I already have an Ego, so placing me inside of one of those dolls would have disappointing effects. You are better off to go kill some monsters and use the souls from them. If you do that, they will gain the Ego that is programmed into your golems," Ashagan explained, and I sighed.

"Fine, hop back inside, and I will fight some monsters," I groaned, and Shelli smiled beside me.

"I am sure it will be fine," She said, and then the two of us headed into the cave.

After a short walk, we reached the first area, and my three rabbit friends were waiting for me.

"Those are cute-looking rabbits! I really like the green on them!" Shelli exclaimed but thankfully didn't run forward.

"I kind of hope I can get at least one soul from these guys. The first golem I created was made with the Epic drops I got from one of them," I explained, and Shelli smiled.

"Good luck," She said, touching my arm with a confident look. I had to admit, I liked having her with me more than Daryle.

I leaned in and kissed her before turning to walk into the cave. As soon as I did, the three Martial Emerald Monk Rabbits came for me, but I didn't even need to draw my weapon. Each strike was soft, and I could track their movements easily.

I deflected the first series of attacks, but then killed one of them with a single kick that sent it into the far wall. I deflected the other strikes as I waited, but then clicked my tongue when nothing appeared in my Soul Inventory. I backhanded the next one and finally got what I was looking for.

[Soul Acquired: (Rare) Martial Emerald Monk Rabbit Soul]

Rather than killing the last one, I hoped back to where Shelli was waiting in the tunnel.

"Did you get one?" Shelli asked, and I nodded.

"I had hoped it was going to be Epic, but it was already hard enough to get one soul. The chances of me getting an Epic Soul from one of these is pretty unlikely, even if it was the monster that gave me the Epic material," I explained and opened my inventory.

[Would you like to use Soul Surgeon to bind the: (Rare) Martial Emerald Monk Rabbit Soul, to the golem, (Epic) Emerald Sun Striker Alexia?]
