Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 118: Better Teamwork

That only made me slap my hand over my face, and Shelli burst out laughing. "The girls, Lila. Don't hurt Cynthia or Isilda with whatever you have planned."

Lila's eyes widened, and she quickly put Cynthia and Isilda back on their feet. "I wouldn't hurt them! I just want to give them a good toss at the monsters," she said defensively.

Cynthia and Isilda straightened their outfits, looking a bit disheveled but unharmed. I shook my head with a smile. "Alright, as long as it's all in good fun. Let's head to the next cave and see how well you all work together."

The group continued their journey through the Crystal Cavern, with Lila eagerly bouncing ahead, and Cynthia and Isilda following closely. As they reached the next cave, the same two minotaur were waiting that I had faced the day before.

Lila wasted no time grabbing Cynthia and Isilda, one under each arm and approached the monsters with a determined expression. I watched with amusement as Lila hurled Cynthia and Isilda into the first minotaur, but I activated my Time Dilatation Stance and focused as hard as I could.

The girls and monsters slowed down, all except Lila, who casually walked past the hurtling girls. She went over to wait beside her target and tapped her foot as she waited with crossed arms. Just before the girls were about to spear the minotaur, Lila grabbed both girls and lightly tapped them into the monster.

"Boop," Lila said, and then threw the girls at the other one, before punching the minotaur where the girls would have hit.

The same scene unfolded again as the first minotaur was sent flying in slow motion, and Lila casually walked past the girls to wait for the second minotaur.

"Boop," She said again after catching the girls and tapping their foreheads on the monster, then she walked back over to me, still holding the girls.

[Lila, Cynthia, and Isilda have defeated 2 (Rare Unique)Brute Captain Minotaur. You gain 300% of the experience]

I gasped for air as my Time Dilatation Stance gave out, and I couldn't hold my focus any longer. Shelli had to support me after so I didn't fall to my knees. It was like my entire body felt sore just from trying to watch that all happened. My eyes also felt really sore.

"I think that we should rest now," Shelli said, but I shook my head, slowly getting my breathing back to normal.

"The girls are doing all the work, and I am reaping the rewards. I just got a little bit ahead of myself trying to keep up with Lila's movements," I said, but Shelli shook her head.

"I still think you should sit down for a moment and have something to eat. Even though you are not fighting, I can tell you are getting stronger. I also don't think this fatigue is from using your skills. You probably hit level 90, and now your body will start preparing for the changes at level 100," Shelli explained, and when I checked, she was right, I was level 91.

Shelli helped me sit down against a wall in the cave, and I took a deep breath. Lila, Cynthia, and Isilda gathered around, concern etched on their faces.

"Master, are you alright?" Cynthia asked, worry in her eyes.

"I'm fine, just a bit drained," I explained, waving off their concerns. "But you three did great. Lila, your throws were spot on, but next time I would like to see some actual teamwork? No more throwing the girls like that."

After taking a short break to recover, I decided to observe the interactions and teamwork among my golems more closely. Shelli handed me a snack, and I gratefully accepted it while sitting against the cave wall.

Lila, Cynthia, and Isilda gathered around me, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern. Shelli sat beside me, offering her support.

"Master, I'm sorry if my tossing wasn't what you wanted. I just wanted to help," Lila said, her bunny ears drooping slightly.

I chuckled and ruffled Lila's hair. "It's okay, Lila. Your enthusiasm is appreciated. But now, let's focus on working together more seamlessly. Cynthia and Isilda, how do you both feel about coordinating your attacks?"

Cynthia nodded. "I believe with Isilda's control over time and my command over frost and fire, we can create devastating combinations. Let's give it a try."

Isilda agreed with a serene smile. "I am open to trying different combinations of our abilities. Together, our powers could be more effective."

"Great. Let's start with something simple. Isilda, use your Frost Temporal Shift to teleport Cynthia into a strategic position, and Cynthia, follow up with a Frostfire Dragon Summon. Coordinate the timing," I suggested, watching as the two golems exchanged nods.

I looked over at Lila. "Just give them a good "boop" at the end," I said, punching forward, and Lila sighed but nodded.

She didn't look too happy about it, but the girls would get stronger over time. I made sure they could all grow, and when I got more souls, I could figure out if I could give them to the other girls. For now, we have 3 more caves, and then the actual boss.

I was excited to see what the boss would be, but it felt weird being the person who just sat in the background. Maybe I would try and help in the next cave, and see if I could increase my experience gained, but for now, I was just relaxing and eating some snacks.

Looked like I was going to hit level 100 today, and probably quite a bit past it with my golems help. Suddenly, the idea of getting strong enough in the next 3 days didn’t seem so far off. I was still a long way off from replacing Daryle’s lost firepower, but I would have to do a lot more than just replace him.

There was no point in counting my chickens before they hatched. I would just have to try my best and hope that the war didn’t take too long. That was the dream, but we would have to see what reality brought.
