Reincarnated As Shiba Clan’s Heir! (Bleach-Gin)

Ch68- Hohō

Kazuki's footsteps echoed lightly as he approached the academy for advanced training. The sun was still low on the horizon, casting long, golden shadows on the stone path. He could make out the silhouette of a familiar figure waiting just outside the gates. Yoruichi, with her agile stance and a relaxed aura, nodded in acknowledgment as he approached.

"Early bird gets the worm, huh?" Kazuki remarked with a playful grin, adjusting the straps of his training gear.

Yoruichi smirked, her gaze momentarily drifting towards the horizon. "Or the best training partner. Ready for today?"

Kazuki laughed, feeling a surge of adrenaline. "With you? Always."

As the gates to the academy opened, the pair stepped onto the training grounds. The atmosphere was thick with energy, the future members of Onmitsukidō already busy with their morning drills. Kazuki took a moment to absorb the scene: the precise movements, the soft sounds of fabric rustling, and the determined faces of his peers.

Yoruichi’s grandfather had specifically recommended this advanced training for her, but Kazuki? He'd taken the unconventional route and enrolled in all the available courses. This meant he'd be training in Stealth and Shunpo alongside Yoruichi, among other skills.

While other trainees were split into specialized groups, Kazuki and Yoruichi found themselves side by side in a spacious area marked for Hohō training.

Kazuki and Yoruichi stood at the edge of the expansive training ground, the hushed energy around them a stark contrast to the rising sun. While others practiced their moves in various pockets, the space dedicated to Shunpo training beckoned the duo with its emptiness.

From the entrance of the academy, a tall woman with an air of authority approached. Her skin glowed in the morning light, betraying scars of numerous battles. Dressed in traditional training robes, she walked with purpose, her shoes barely making a sound. Her name was Master Hikari, known throughout the academy as the pinnacle of Shunpo training. Her raven-black hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, and her piercing eyes scanned the trainees, stopping momentarily on Kazuki.

"Good morning, students," Master Hikari began. Her voice was clear and resonated with a sense of command. "Today, we will return to the basics. Hohō is not just about speed. It's a culmination of precision, timing, and technique."

Kazuki and Yoruichi exchanged glances, a mutual understanding passing between them. Both had seen the value of fundamentals in their previous training.

"We start with stance," Hikari said, positioning her feet shoulder-width apart and sinking her weight slightly. "Your stance is your foundation. Too wide, and you lose speed. Too narrow, and you lose balance."

As Kazuki mimicked her, Yoruichi's attention was focused intently on the instructor, her body subtly adjusting to the correct posture.

"From here," Hikari continued, "envision your destination. Hohō is not a leap; it's a transition."

Master Hikari then disappeared from her spot and reappeared a few meters away, her movement so fluid it seemed like she had glided. The entire motion was seamless.

The sun's rays began to intensify as Yoruichi and Kazuki stood side by side. They were both accomplished practitioners of Hohō, but each had a unique relationship with the technique.

Kazuki settled into the stance that Master Hikari had demonstrated, a quiet confidence evident in his posture. It was uncanny; he displayed a mastery of Hohō that was equivalent to Yoruichi's, who had it practically imprinted in her DNA due to her family's lineage with the Onmitsukidō.

Yoruichi watched him from the corner of her eye, subtly adjusting her own posture. She had often wondered about Kazuki's innate skill. Their conversations over tea were filled with tales of her family and upbringing, but Kazuki's past remained a mystery, a blank canvas. However, it wasn’t just Yoruichi who pondered this. Even the venerable Isshin, who had found and introduced Kazuki to the Shiba family, was at a loss. But despite the unanswered questions, Kazuki's talent was undeniable.

Yoruichi's thoughts were interrupted by Master Hikari's commanding voice. "Yoruichi, demonstrate the initial Shunpo transition for the class."

Obliging, Yoruichi took a deep breath and vanished, only to appear several meters away. Her movement was sleek, a testament to her legacy and hours of rigorous training.

"Excellent, Yoruichi," Hikari commended. "Now, Kazuki."

Without hesitation, Kazuki followed suit. The transition was smooth, his landing quiet, drawing nods of approval from some of the watching trainees. The similarity in their proficiency was palpable. Yoruichi might have trained since she could walk, but Kazuki’s skill was innate, as if it had always been a part of him.

Hikari, noticing the pair's obvious talent, decided to raise the stakes. "Pair up. We’ll run drills with a partner. The goal is to track your partner's movements while executing your own Shunpo."

Yoruichi and Kazuki naturally gravitated towards each other. They settled into positions, their faces inches apart, the silence filled with tension and concentration.

"Begin!" Hikari shouted.

Yoruichi and Kazuki danced around each other, transitioning from point to point. The fluidity of their movements was mesmerizing, each trying to outdo the other. There were moments when Yoruichi would get a step ahead, and then moments when Kazuki would surprise her with an unpredictable move.

They were a whirlwind of motion, drawing the attention of all the other trainees. Every transition was an unspoken challenge, every landing a silent agreement of mutual respect.

As the exercise concluded, both Yoruichi and Kazuki were panting slightly, their energies spent but spirits high. They looked at each other, acknowledging the thrill of the challenge without words.

As the class ended, Master Hikari motioned for Kazuki and Yoruichi to approach her. The morning sun warmed the ground beneath their feet as they made their way towards the instructor, casting playful glints on the surrounding fields where other trainees practiced diligently.

"You both excel far beyond the capabilities of the others in this class," Master Hikari began, her tone firm yet understanding. "To remain here would be both a waste of your talents and may inadvertently discourage the other students from pushing themselves further."

Kazuki looked towards Yoruichi, but before he could form a response, the instructor continued, "I believe it's best for both of you to have private training sessions. This way, we can delve deeper into advanced techniques without constantly adjusting the pace."

A hint of excitement lit up Yoruichi's eyes. "That sounds like an opportunity we shouldn't pass up."

Kazuki nodded in agreement. "I appreciate the consideration, Master Hikari. I've always believed that one can only truly gauge their progress when tested against their own limits."

Master Hikari smiled, sensing the enthusiasm in both of their voices. "We'll begin tomorrow morning. Come prepared, as I intend to challenge you both in ways you might not expect."
