Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 52: A Casual Investment

"Boss, why did you suddenly become so generous?" The two people who had returned to the Disciplinary Committee headquarters looked at Li Donglu in confusion.

The remnants of Divine Realms containing traces of True God power were valuable to all of them, yet he had given them away so easily. It wasn't like his usual behavior at all.

"What do you think of Xu Luo?" Li Donglu didn't directly answer their question, instead asking something seemingly unrelated.

"Uh..." Hearing this, the other two didn't understand his intention.

One of them thought for a moment and shrugged, "Just average, I guess. Respectful attitude, not outstanding, not fawning. Pretty ordinary."

Hearing this, Li Donglu raised an eyebrow but just smiled without saying anything.

"I think his strength is quite good," the other replied after careful consideration. "After all, he got a seed quota. Even though it's from an unknown school like Tianhai Sixth High, getting a quota proves he has something special."

"Seems like you both missed it," Li Donglu sighed.

"He asked us for help after being invaded, but what did we see when we got there?"

"Knowing we were coming, those guys ran away early, right?" Liu Yong, who spoke first, asked puzzledly. "Isn't that normal?"

"It shouldn't be that simple," Zhang Song pondered. "It takes time for us to teleport there. Five senior students had enough time to destroy Xu Luo's Divine Realm, but when we arrived, his realm showed no obvious signs of damage. Moreover, the transfer channel of those five was gone before we arrived."

Hearing Zhang Song's words, Li Donglu nodded. "That's why I gave him those things."

"Just because of that?" Liu Yong still didn't understand. "Isn't he just a lucky kid who got a seed quota from a small school? There's no need to give him anything. Boss, if you had merged those realms yourself, you might have had a chance to make the school team with the power boost."

"The school team isn't that easy to get into!" Li Donglu sighed. He was already in his sophomore year. If he could have made the school team, why would he be in the Disciplinary Committee's combat group?

He knew what kind of monstrous talents were in the school team, so he had completely given up on that idea.

"Besides, that small boost wouldn't do much for me, but it can earn me a favor."

"What kind of strength could a seed from a small school have?" Liu Yong, as a student of the Imperial Capital Divine Realm University, naturally looked down on other schools.

It was the same with other universities, let alone Xu Luo, who was only in his first year of high school.

"Qi Ze and those four weren't weak. They went to invade a freshman together, but when we arrived, Xu Luo was clearly waiting for us. His Divine Realm wasn't badly damaged but showed signs of battle. Moreover, he didn't look pained about massive losses. Don't you know what this means?"

Li Donglu smiled faintly, not explaining further.

Knowing Xu Luo was strong was only part of the reason. What really made him decide to invest was another factor.

The principal of Tianhai Sixth High was Zhong Tianyue, a member of the Pioneer Corps.

He was a formidable figure who struck fear into many alien races. Eventually, the military department couldn't withstand the enormous pressure and had to transfer him to the Education Department, even giving him a strict order:

He must cultivate a student who could qualify for the inter-school competition.

Qualifying from Tianhai City's inter-school competition essentially meant qualifying for the entire district, able to participate in the global competition where talents from all regions gathered.

For all these years, Zhong Tianyue had never given out a seed quota. Li Donglu didn't believe he suddenly applied for one just because he saw a small genius.

More likely, Zhong Tianyue saw hope for qualification in Xu Luo, so he gave him the seed quota.

It was precisely because he knew this that Li Donglu said he looked forward to Xu Luo's performance in the competition.

Liu Yong and Zhang Song didn't know this information and couldn't see the whole picture. Li Donglu had no intention of explaining.

He was just being generous with something that wasn't his, doing a small favor without having to pay anything himself, and gaining the goodwill of a future talent. Why not?

Even if he misjudged and Xu Luo turned out to be just a small-town talent without much promise, he wouldn't lose anything.

"Alright, stop dwelling on this. We have a lot of work to do!" Li Donglu dismissed the two, not wanting to dwell on this matter.

He himself started writing an action report.

The Disciplinary Committee had great power but also many restrictions. They couldn't just do whatever they wanted.

They had to write reports for each action, and there would be special personnel to check afterward.

This time was relatively good; Xu Luo had ended the battle himself, and they just went to wrap things up.

Sometimes they needed to help with the fighting, and there wasn't much compensation for lost units. It was far less glamorous than people imagined.

If it weren't for the opportunity to enter the real-world Education Department, Li Donglu would have considered becoming a God Fighter to make money.

Far away on the Continent of Gods, True God Xu Fan, who had destroyed the Divine Realms of several Demi-Gods with one strike, didn't care about that at all. Instead, he was more interested in the person he had helped this time.

"Just two months into the school year and he's already eliminated so many alien races. Zhong Tianyue, this student of yours certainly has your old style. No wonder you were in such a hurry to apply for a seed quota for him!"

Thinking of how someone was so eager to upgrade his student's seed level, he couldn't help but smile.

That guy had been holding back for so many years, always being mocked at gatherings. This time, it was actually a form of showing off, wasn't it?

Not mentioning other planets, at least on the ancestral planet, among the tens of thousands of high schools and hundreds of millions of new students, Xu Luo ranked first in the number of alien invasions.

But thinking about how his old friend, at such an age, still wanted to return to the battlefield, he sighed.

More than ten years had passed in reality, but in the Divine Realm, it had been over a hundred years!

Zhong Tianyue was formidable back then, but after being away from the Pioneer Corps for so long, not being on the front lines, his development had surely lagged behind others. If he were to return to the battlefield now, he might not be able to match the new generation!

When the higher-ups made him retire back then, apart from facing huge pressure, wasn't it also to let him retire gracefully, avoiding the fate of being surrounded and killed one day?

Alien races were constantly producing new talents, and because of Zuo Tianyao's incident, they were very wary of humans, always paying close attention to human experts and the new generation. The Pioneer Corps was currently facing enormous pressure.
