Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 56: Long-Awaited Skewers

Mingfeng Building was the gathering place for the wealthy in Tianhai City, as well as a high-consumption area.

Here, you could find any conceivable luxury.

Ordinary people could hardly imagine what it was like.

On the landing platform of the 128th floor of Mingfeng Building, guests arriving and departing parked their flying cars and aircraft.

As security personnel were directing guests to park their vehicles in designated spots, they suddenly saw a wobbly flying board approaching. At first, they thought they were seeing things, but upon closer look, it really was a flying board.

"Captain, look!" A team member pointed in the direction of the approaching flying board.

"Should we park this too?"

Compared to other guests' vehicles, this flying board was extremely eye-catching.

It was like a bicycle among a group of million-dollar luxury cars.

"Remember your duty!" The captain sternly warned the team member, then went to greet the newcomer directly.

"What does that mean?" The new team member was puzzled.

"It doesn't matter what people arrive in, remember what you're here for!" A nearby colleague reminded him.

Their job was to help arriving guests park, regardless of what they came in. They just needed to do their job properly. In a place like this, the most taboo thing was to be overly talkative.

In such a place, looking down on others could lead to unforeseen consequences.

Their captain always reminded team members to know their place and not do anything unnecessary.

Don't think that just because you've seen all kinds of important people, you're on the same level as them.

A worker never has the right to mock a customer.

The young man nodded, seeming to understand, and went back to work.

Under the security captain's guidance, Xu Luo parked his flying board without encountering any mockery or condescension.

In such a place, the quality requirements for employees were very high.

After casually asking about Wang Xiaoling's private room, he was surprised that the staff knew her and directly had someone escort Xu Luo there.

Without paying attention to the luxurious decorations, he calmly walked to the private room door.

After knocking, the door opened automatically.

Seeing the situation inside, Xu Luo was momentarily stunned.

Several people were sitting inside, now looking at him curiously.

Though surprised, Xu Luo calmly entered.

The room's layout was somewhat like a KTV, but upon entering, he realized that the room wasn't entirely enclosed. One wall was missing, allowing them to overlook the scene below.

Seeing Xu Luo enter, Wang Xiaoling stood up to introduce him to the others.

"This is Xu Luo, my guest!"

Her meaning was clear: this is my person, be polite to him!

The others warmly welcomed him, their true thoughts known only to themselves, but they showed enough respect on the surface.

After all, Wang Xiaoling was a core figure in their circle and commanded this much face.

"This guy with the sly smile is Xiang Lu, from the Xiang family, but he's not on the same side as Xiang Xun. He's from First High."

"Xiaoling, is it okay to talk about me like this to my face?" The youth named Xiang Lu smiled wryly but stood up.

"Xu Luo! I've heard of you. Whatever happened between you and Xiang Xun is your business, it has nothing to do with me. Xiaoling and I are childhood friends!"

"Hello!"

One shouldn't hit a smiling face, and since the other was being polite, Xu Luo naturally wouldn't respond with a cold face. Besides, this was Wang Xiaoling's gathering, and showing a cold face would be disrespectful to her.

Whether Xiang Lu's words were true or not, Xu Luo decided to take them at face value for now.

Seeing that there was no conflict between the two, Wang Xiaoling breathed a sigh of relief.

Xiang Lu was her good friend, and Xu Luo was someone worth actively befriending. If they had clashed, she would have had to give up on this potential asset, which would have been regrettable. The current harmonious atmosphere was naturally the best outcome.

"This little beauty here is Zuo Jiaojiao, recognized as the prettiest girl in our circle. If you're interested, I can play matchmaker and help you get her contact info!" Wang Xiaoling introduced another girl in the room playfully.

"Wang Xiaoling, you're terrible!" The girl called out in mock anger, but she still stood up and introduced herself gracefully.

"I'm Zuo Jiaojiao, a first-year student at Third High. Nice to meet you!"

"Hello!"

Seeing this girl, Xu Luo was momentarily stunned. She was indeed very beautiful.

However, this had nothing to do with him, so he quickly recovered and calmly greeted her.

The young girl's pretty face bore a flowery smile, with no thought of surprise that he hadn't been utterly captivated by her appearance.

Besides these two, there was also Fang Xuan from First High and Zheng Qiao from Eighth High.

After introducing everyone, Wang Xiaoling quickly invited Xu Luo to sit down.

The private room was enormous, making their small group seem sparse, so they pushed the sofas together, sitting in a circle to eat barbecue while watching the match.

"Is tonight's match very important?" Xu Luo asked curiously, looking at the lively scene below.

Unlike their casual barbecue and drinks, below was a sea of densely packed seats, all occupied. In the center was a high platform, currently empty.

"It's alright. Today is a match between two Level 2 God Fighters, so it's attracted quite a crowd," Xiang Lu answered casually while munching on skewers.

With others present, Xu Luo didn't ask further questions and just ate along with everyone else.

Since coming to this world, the meal at the Wang family's place had been the best he'd had.

Now, seeing the familiar beer and skewers, he felt incredibly nostalgic!

He just hadn't expected that in such a technologically advanced world, these things would become luxuries.

These people naturally wouldn't use synthetic products, so these were all original ingredients, but the price... one meal could bankrupt an ordinary person.

Xu Luo wasn't constrained. It was just a barbecue meal, and he could afford it. There was no need to act like he'd never seen such things before.

The others weren't surprised by his behavior either. They didn't think it strange that someone from an ordinary background wasn't wolfing down the food at his first taste of such luxury.

Coming from big families, people without brains were the minority. Most received elite education and would become elites in various fields after growing up. This was the fundamental reason why financial oligarchies could stand firm.

Every family might have a couple of prodigal sons, but they were the minority.

Wang Xiaoling's own status determined that she wouldn't associate with those wastrels.

The people who could hang out with her were naturally of similar standing.
